- Jim Delligatti, a graduate of Michigan State University, "invented" McDonald's Big Mac. He originally named it the "Big Mac Super Sandwich" Delligatti was one of McDonald's original franchisees who, at the time, operated several restaurants in the Pittsburgh area.
