A guy from Jersey has magically transformed into a guy from Australia.
On Wednesday, Netflix released the first footage of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, the series lead role the Aussie actor has taken over from Henry Cavill, in “The Witcher” Season 4.
In the short clip, Geralt is leading his horse, Roach, through a dark and dreary landscape. We see the back of his iconic white-blond head. And as he turns around, he looks familiar but different.
Cavill departed the hit fantasy series after Season 3, and Hemsworth was brought in to replace him. It remains to be seen if and how Geralt’s new appearance is addressed.
“The Witcher” has already been renewed for a fifth and final season, which will shoot back-to-back with Season 4. Season 4 is in production in the U.K. now.

Up until 2023, The Witcher was one of the best book-based storylines ever transformed into a live-action series, and one of the biggest reasons behind its tremendous success was Henry Cavill’s effortless performance as the Geralt of Rivia. But then Cavill was replaced, with Liam Hemsworth becoming the new protagonist of the lore — though not without earning much backlash from fans.

The Witcher star Freya Allan is urging fans to give Liam Hemsworth a chance as he takes over from Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia for the fourth season of the Netflix fantasy drama. Hemsworth was announced as Cavill’s replacement in October 2022, and the recasting was met with mixed reactions. Some of the more hardcore fans weren’t happy with the change, especially after the awkward way Cavill left the series, with creative differences reported to be the driving issue. Cavill is a self-confessed fan of The Witcher book and video game series. In a recent interview with Collider, Allan, who plays Princess Cirilla of Cintra (aka Ciri), said she hopes viewers will go easy on Hemsworth as he steps into Cavill’s shoes. “I don’t want to speak for [Hemsworth], but from what I’ve understood, I feel like he’s really wanting to try and bring the heart,...

Geralt of Rivia’s story has an end date on Netflix.
On Thursday, the streaming service renewed The Witcher for Season 5, but revealed that it would be the last season.
The shocking announcement comes as production is finally getting underway on The Witcher Season 4 following countless setbacks.
“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate Season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” showrunner Lauren Hissrich shared in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”
Saying goodbye to the hit fantasy drama will be tough, but at least we have two seasons that will help soften the blow.

Henry Willson’s behavior was protected by other powerful players in the entertainment industry who depended on him for a steady stream of fresh, young talent.

Willson, a closeted gay man, would lure dozens of handsome young men, or “beefcakes” as they would come to be known, to his Los Angeles home after wining and dining them and promising fame. “He seems to have insinuated himself into their lives,” Pattin explains. “He became their friend, the parent, the protector, and in many cases, their lover.”

The Witcher season 4 executive producer suggests an explanation for Geralt recasting is in the books
There are plenty of rumors about why Henry Cavill decided to step away from the Netflix series The Witcher after playing the character of Geralt of Rivia for three seasons, but there has never been an in-depth explanation. Whatever the reason may be, Liam Hemsworth will be taking over the role of Geralt in The Witcher season 4 – and during a recent interview executive producer Tomek Baginski suggested that an explanation for Geralt’s new appearance can be found in the source material, the series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
Inspired by the works of Sapkowski, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family — the story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.

For my money, the best episodes of "The Witcher" are the ones that focus on Ciri, the adopted daughter of Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg, and the powerfully magical crown princess of Cintra. Ciri was a favorite of readers of the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, as well as players of the video game adaptations, and is now beloved by the fans of Netflix's TV series. The character is imbued with mystery and surprises, and as a result you never quite know what to expect when "The Witcher" fully trains its focus on her.
Case in point episode 7 of season 3, "Out of the Fire, Into the Frying Pan." At this point, only a single episode stood between everything we'd come to know about "The Witcher" and a Henry Cavill-less future. Ciri, who played a critical role in the first season but was certainly secondary to Geralt...

The White Flame Who Dances on the Barrows of his Enemies. This is how Emperor Emhyr is known among those who both respect and fear him, as it is rumored that his ballroom in Nilfgaard is interred with the graves of his political enemies. Emhyr has always been a latent threat in "The Witcher," as his soaring ambitions include engulfing the Continent in chaos and getting his daughter, Cirilla, back at any cost. In the Netflix adaptation of "The Witcher" novels, Emhyr (Bart Edwards) was revealed to be Duny, Ciri's (Freya Allan) father, at the end of season 2, and this twist evoked confusing feelings at best.
As Duny had been propped up as a tragic yet noble figure in the show so far, his resurrection as Emhyr cast a shadow of doubt on his motivations behind coveting Ciri.

In the world of The Witcher, where betrayal and heartbreak are commonplace, trust is a precious commodity. This mysterious fictional realm has taught us that genuine connections can often be found with strangers, even more so than within blood ties. The relationship between The White Flame, Emhyr var Emreis, and his daughter Cirilla serves as a crucial example tainted by such betrayal and selfishness, even though they had a blood connection. In the third season of The Witcher, Emhyr comes closer to his aim of capturing Ciri and intertwining her destiny with his own. To achieve this, he suppresses all enemy factions, ensuring a smooth path toward his goal. However, with both Geralt and Yennefer still alive, capturing Ciri and controlling her future will be a challenging task for the White Flame.
In The Witcher season 1, we were introduced to Emhyr as a cursed hedgehog named Duny, who sought to marry Pavetta.

Despite the fact Geralt is the accepted protagonist of the franchise, The Witcher Season 3 Episode 7 shifts the focus nearly entirely to Cirilla, the Lion Cub of Cintra.

Before heading into the The Witcher’s season three finale, let’s recap.
Over the course of this season’s first five episodes, Geralt (Henry Cavill), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allan) are on the run — from, well, basically everyone on the Continent — as the warring factions battle for claim to the land. The key to winning the fight? Ciri, herself.
Yennefer has taken Ciri to develop her magic at the academy of Aretuza, while Geralt hunts the evil and dangerous mage Rience, discovering some disturbing developments along the way. Part two leaves only three episodes to tie up the various storylines at play, not to mention that it will also mark star Cavill’s last time as the titular witcher, before Liam Hemsworth takes over the role of Geralt in Netflix’s season four.

This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "The Witcher" and the source material.
It's been a few weeks since Volume I of "The Witcher" season 3 aired on Netflix, ending with a cliffhanger that anticipates the massacre after the Thanedd Ball. While the first two seasons have been pretty eventful so far, season 3 gets to the meat of the overarching story pretty quickly, making it fairly clear that Geralt (Henry Cavill) is not the sole protagonist of the series. In Andrzej Sapkowski's "The Witcher" novel series, there are many players that assume key roles, but Geralt and Ciri emerge as equally important in a tale about power, betrayal, and political upheaval. While Geralt still plays a crucial part in guiding Ciri (Freya Allan) in the right direction, the series will soon set up Ciri as the main character, as the fate of the Continent hinges on her actions.

Anya Chalotra is beautiful, even if we don’t count the violet eyes that she sports for the role of Yennefer of Vengerberg in the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher. The third season shows Yennefer seeking redemption for the sins she committed in the previous season and slowly overcoming an obsession that had sent her into a spiral in the past. Yennefer slowly grows into the role of a mother for Freya Allen’s character, Cirilla of Cintra, but it’s a process that takes its fair time. Here, we explore how Yennefer came to be a motherly figure for Geralt’s ward, the white-haired Ciri.
Perhaps the ugliest child in the town of Vengerberg was the hunchbacked girl with a misshapen jaw and a severely bent frame named Yennefer. Hated and sold like mere cattle to a mystical woman in exchange for a few coins by her father, Yennefer...

The superhit Netflix series The Witcher released the first half of the third season yesterday. Determined to keep the hype alive for their shows, Netflix has come up with a new charade of splitting their most popular shows into two halves so that the viewership lasts for more than a month. Even if this marketing move could have been excused, the treatment of Henry Cavill by the makers of the show has been completely inexcusable, leading to the actor leaving the show after Season 3 wrapped up. Therefore, this year will be the last time we see Cavill don the Witcher gear, and he will be leaving with half the viewership. Speaking of the first half of this season, we witnessed a lot of growth in Geralt’s character, so today, we delve into exploring just how far the white-haired Witcher has grown as a person while slaying monsters and going on missions.

Oh, well done. With impressive restraint, The Witcher Season 3 Episode 5 feeds us a few puzzle pieces at a time until the picture emerges.
In between, Geralt and Yennefer canoodle like new lovers in the first throes of passion as they examine the evening in hindsight from different perspectives.
The repeated telling of the same few hours with new details added with each visit is a creative narrative technique that draws viewers in as they are compelled to match the information up to the established timeline, even as they seek an explanation for the change in Geralt and Yennefer's relationship.
Revealing Vilgefortz is the sorcerer with Rience on his leash only spawns more questions.
If Stregobor had been the villain, the motivations would be simple to identify. Stregobor's hatred of elves is well-documented, and he is unapologetic for his extreme specism.
But Vilgefortz has been more subtle in masking his intentions.

Multiple reunions occur on The Witcher Season 3 Episode 3, and it's hard to tell which the title refers to or if it's meant to encompass all of them.
When Yennefer is reunited with her Aretuzan sisters, Ciri discovers a different side to her mentor and friend. This triggers all the entitled outrage a Cintran princess can muster. Not a good look for her, really, even if it does attract the Wild Hunt.
Meanwhile, Geralt reconnects with Anika and, in a way, his mother. In Redania, Dijkstra and Philippa bring Vizimir back into their fold. And, in Cintra, Ehmyr and Cahir return their relationship to its bloody and toxic status quo. R.I.P. Gage.
Ciri spends a lot of this adventure with her nose out of joint. She resents being shunted off with a babysitter and shut out of whatever business Yennefer conducts at the bank.
She indulges her excesses at the market and swans about,...

There are a lot of moving parts on The Witcher Season 3 Episode 2, and it shreds the narrative throughline as we divide our attention between not only Geralt and Yennefer but Jaskier and Tissaia and Fringilla And Emhyr. Oh, and hello, Cahir!
I suspect the threads will dovetail eventually -- they always do, eventually -- but it makes for challenging viewing as we're pulled between wine cellar dungeons, castle laboratories, fortresses, and blacksmith shops.
Recognizing the season's brevity, I expect there's some urgency to get players in place before the central action accelerates. But there are a lot of details fighting for our attention.
If we begin in Cintra, I'd say Fringilla's plight is the more interesting, especially since it's a pleasant surprise she wasn't executed for lying to The White Flame.
I mean, yeah, she also drugged and murdered the Nilfgaardian generals on The Witcher Season 2 Episode 7, but that's far...

Netflix’s adaptation of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s renowned book series, The Witcher, has captivated audiences with its dark, gothic atmosphere and outstanding performances by actors such as Freya Allan (Ciri), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Henry Cavill (Geralt). The first season that was premiered in 2019, followed by Season 2 in 2021, garnered a huge and devoted fanbase. In 2022, a prequel series titled Blood Origin was released, introducing several changes from the source material while still maintaining a connection to the events in the Witcher timeline. However, the upcoming season, which will sadly be the final time Geralt is portrayed by Henry Cavil, will follow the series’ protagonist Geralt, his true love Yennefer, and his destiny child Ciri as they confront numerous challenges and strive to save the world as prophesied in their destinies.

The show is inspired by a series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, and a lot of fans were disappointed that season 2 strayed away from the source material. As the premiere of season 3 approaches, showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich has said that this season is going to be more faithful to Sapkowski’s work than the previous one.
Speaking to Collider, Schmidt-Hissrich said, “The truth is that we always obviously start from the books. Hollywood star Henry Cavill goes all out as the monster slayer Geralt of Rivia, in his final outing as the character from the popular fantasy web series, ‘The Witcher’. A new short clip of the soon-to-release season 3 of ‘The Witcher’ was recently dropped on YouTube.
The clip shows a tightly produced, gory fight scene, which starts off with Geralt’s ward Cirilla being attacked by a bunch of bounty hunters which includes the evil mage Rience from the books.
After being attacked Ciri manages to fight off and kill some of the bandits in hand to hand combat, but as the odds start to go against her she is saved by the witch Yennefer of Vengerberg who is both Geralt’s lover and eventually Ciri’s mother figure in the books.
Soon, Geralt also joins the fight and kills several, with his friend Dandelion and his Dwarvish friends coming to his help.
