- Robert Bruce Baird was born on June 2nd, 1957, in Denver, Colorado, to Robert Glenn Baird, a Landscape, sprinkler system business owner, and Patricia Ann Chumley, the officer manager of the family business. Robert has a younger sister, Vicky, a mother of two boys. His father was of more Scottish descent, and his mother, is of more English ancestry. During a family hunting trip in Lost Park, Colorado in November 1967, Robert Glenn was killed in a hunting accident. The sprinkler business, left with a high debt was sold, they sold their home and moved into a basement and grew up in Englewood, Colorado. After graduating from high school, Robert attended college in the fall of 1976 and began writing a screenplay.
