Last year, legendary filmmaker / composer John Carpenter teamed up with his son Cody Carpenter, godson Daniel Davies, and Sacred Bones Records to put an album called Anthology II: Movie Themes 1976-1988 out into the world. Now they’re back at it, as a press release has announced that the latest album from the Carpenters and Davies, Lost Themes IV: Noir, will be released on May 3rd! Pre-orders are available at This Link. To promote the album, a music video for the song “My Name Is Death” has been produced, and you can watch that in the embed at the bottom of this article.
The “My Name Is Death” music video is miniature noir film that was directed by Ambar Navarro and stars Natalie Mering (Weyes Blood), Staz Lindes (The Paranoyds), and Misha Lindes (SadGirl). John Carpenter had this to say: “Noir is a uniquely American genre born in post-war cinema.

John Carpenter has announced his new album, Lost Themes IV: Noir, a non-soundtrack release arriving May 3rd via Sacred Bones Records. To build anticipation, the filmmaker and composer has shared the lead single, “My Name Is Death,” and its accompanying music video. Stream it below.
The upcoming album reunites the horror master with his frequent collaborators, son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies. A follow-up to 2021’s Lost Themes III: Weeping Ghost, Noir promises to be unlike anything the trio has done before — a stylistic shift that enhances Carpenter’s signature atmospheric synth with a distinctly “noir” vibe.
The 10-track project is a tribute to the film noir genre, with songs inspired by some of Carpenter’s favorite films. Rather than recreating these old soundtracks, the album translates the haunting, dramatic orchestral scores of ’40s-era Hollywood pulp into Carpenter’s guitar-heavy synth soundscapes. “Some of the music is heavy guitar riffs,...

With October just around the corner, Weyes Blood is getting into the Halloween spirit with the eerie and ghastly new video for “Twin Flame.”
Directed by Ambar Navarro, the clip hearkens back to old school fantasy and gothic horror flicks. It opens with an animated sequence in which a man rides away from a castle in the middle of the night. It then switches to live-action, with Weyes Blood’s Natalie Mering playing the woman left behind, left to wander this creepy castle, while her dark-side doppelgänger also stalks the halls.

The Chicago-based band Divino Niño filled their 2019 breakthrough album, Foam, with lush, anti-gravity dream pop, so light it seemed able to drift listeners into a blissful new dimension. But on their upcoming album, Last Spa on Earth, the band is playing with bolder sounds — and their new single, “Xo,” is just a hint of the surprises they’ve prepared.
The track is one of Divino Niño’s most upbeat without abandoning their skill for lithe, breezy production. “Over that summer [when we made the album], we fell back in love with J Dilla,” the band tells Rolling Stone.

Doris Anahí is sitting in a cafe in Mexico City, talking to Rolling Stone on the phone, when a tiny hummingbird lands directly in front of her and flutters its wings. “It’s my ancestors saying, ‘What’s up!’” she says with a laugh. She’s been in Mexico for a few weeks; she arrived first in Guadalajara and has been spending time working on music and connecting with family. Little moments like this happen constantly: She’ll see an animal or some kind of symbol in nature, and she...
