The “Ferrari” actor and “Grey’s Anatomy” alum was revealed as this year’s honoree during Tuesday night’s broadcast of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Prior to unveiling Dempsey as the sexiest man alive, the actor participated in a Q&a with the audience while wearing a realistic lizard face filter, followed by a donkey filter, on the late-night talk show.

An “overwhelming majority” of staff members at Crooked Media, the progressive media company behind Pod Save America, are seeking to unionize with the Writers Guild of America East, the guild said on Monday.
The bargaining unit is comprised of 55 Crooked Media employees who are producers, writers, designers, editors, engineers and staff. In a letter to management, the unit said one of the union’s goals is to ensure that the working conditions at Crooked Media — which struck a major deal with SiriusXM, received an investment from George Soros’ Soros Fund Management and hired its first CEO in the last year — are not negatively impacted by these outside interventions.
Some of those “degradations,” as the union letter described it, have resulted in high turnover and low morale at the media company. Other goals for the union include prioritizing the hiring and advancement of staffers of color and increasing transparency on the...

Crooked Media announced today at the Iab Podcast Upfronts 2022 that it will be expanding internationally with a new podcast, “Pod Save the UK,” hosted by critically acclaimed British comic and TV host Nish Kumar. Every week, Kumar will be joined by political experts, journalists, and well-known satirists who will break down the latest news and meltdowns in politics across the United Kingdom and Europe, analyzing what happened, why, and what people who want to see a more progressive society can do about it.

YouTube vet, comedian, and author Akilah Hughes has officially joined the Crooked Media family -- a podcast network co-founded by three former Obama staffers: Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor -- that is behind hit shows like Pod Save America, Lovett Or Leave It, and Keep It.
Hughes, who has previously appeared on other Crooked shows, will team up with political journalist Gideon Resnick (formerly of The Daily Beast) to host What A Day -- Crooked’s first-ever daily news podcast that will purportedly contextualize the day’s news in a mere 15 to 20 minutes, and then give listeners actionable insights about what can be done. This includes online resources, petitions, and fundraising opportunities -- and is a key component of Crooked philosophy, which has helped raise millions of dollars to fight gerrymandering, take back the Senate for the Democrats, and support the eventual 2020 Democratic presidential nominee.

Pod Save America producer Crooked Media is doubling down on documentary-style podcasts with the launch of This Land, a true-crime series exploring two seemingly unrelated Oklahoma murders that occurred over 150 years apart.
The company, which is run by ex-President Obama staffs Jon Favreau, Tommy Vietor and Jon Lovett, the latter who also wrote on The Newsroom, is launching the seven-episode podcast, hosted by journalist and Cherokee Nation citizen Rebecca Nagle on June 3.
It is the company’s second doc-style podcast following the launch of The Wilderness, which explored the history and future of the Democratic Party.
This Land will look at a murder case that prompted a high-stakes investigation into who legally owns half the land in Oklahoma. It explores Native American rights and tribal sovereignty through Nagle’s lens as a Native woman with a personal connection to the story’s characters. "Trump is not going to win." That's what podcaster Jon Favreau declared in 2016 to The Hollywood Reporter, two weeks before Donald Trump did just that. Had Trump's Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, taken the presidency, Favreau and fellow ex-Obama staffers Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor probably would have ended their popular political podcast, then called Keepin' It 1600. Instead, the three friends found themselves, on the morning after the election, pushing Lovett's car down Sunset Boulevard after they ran out of gas en route to recording a new podcast. That's when, as Favreau recalls, they decided, "...

When Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit performed at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles last month, the Americana singer-songwriter sat for an interview prior to the gig with Pod Save America co-host Tommy Vietor. A former spokesperson for President Obama, Vietor is also a passionate Isbell fan and caught up with the Nashville-based artist to discuss everything from the lack of empathy affecting the United States to why the Dixie Chicks got a raw deal. He also recalls how he once — unknowingly — performed a private gig with Texas Republican senator Ted Cruz in attendance.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s controversial Who is America? is performing a valuable service in that it’s exposing how “shameless” are those members of the Gop who will “literally do anything,” the hosts and creators of Pod Save America told TV critics at TCA.
The four Dems on the HBO TCA panel said their party need not clutch its pearls over Cohen, insisting his very divisive Showtime series is not going to hurt Claire McCaskill’s chances in Missouri.
The most depressing thing about what Cohen does “is that he’s not that manipulative… He does not have to push them too hard,” Jon Lovett said.
(Late Tuesday, it was announced that Georgia state Rep. Jason Spencer, who mooned the camera and yelled racist slurs on Cohen’s program, will resign from the legislature.)

Paul Ryan showed off his lighter side on Wednesday, offering Twitter followers a spoken rendition of some of the mean tweets he has received since becoming Speaker of the House.
While not all of the barbs were particularly cutting, they were pretty creative — gently mocking Ryan for his widow’s peak, his workout routine and his embrace of President Trump.
“Paul Ryan is proof that you don’t need a spin to do P90X,” he read chuckling. Another man said he wished he could hit the speaker in the face with a shovel.

"Zero Dark Thirty" screenwriter Mark Boal did not receive classified documents from the Obama administration. That's the word from Boal himself in a new interview with the ABC News show "Nightline."

White House wanted to back 'gutsy' portrayal of Us president in new Kathryn Bigelow film Zero Dark Thirty, claims Judicial Watch
Newly released documents prove that Barack Obama's administration gave enthusiastic help to the Oscar-winning team behind a new film about the killing of Osama bin Laden, according to a rightwing Us government watchdog.
Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal's new film Zero Dark Thirty centres on the Us Navy Seal unit that raided Bin Laden's compound in northern Pakistan in May 2011 on the orders of the Us president. The project drew flak from Republicans earlier this year after it emerged that Obama's administration shared information with the production team.

Apparently Rep. Peter King was on to something when he raised concerns back in January about director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Marl Boal potentially being leaked classified material to make their upcoming Osama bin Laden movie. According to a report from Judicial Watch, Bigelow and Boal were given unprecedented access by the CIA to make "Zero Dark Thirty," a film that tells the story of the hunt for the world's most wanted man. Documents obtained by the foundation through the Freedom of Information Act show that the filmmakers were allowed to meet with -- and learn the identity of -- a "planner, Operator and Commander of Seal Team Six,” the team responsible for the capture and killing of bin Laden. A meeting transcription states that Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Michael Vickers told Boal and Bigelow, “The only thing we ask is that you not reveal his name in...

Washington -- Obama administration officials made "a planner, operator and commander of Seal Team Six" that killed Osama bin Laden available to a Hollywood director and screenwriter working on a movie about the successful raid, according to Pentagon and CIA records obtained by the conservative group Judicial Watch.
The group released hundreds of pages of documents on Tuesday, secured under a Freedom of Information Act request, that it says show transcripts of meetings and communication between government agencies, Kathryn Bigelow, the Academy Award-winning director of "The Hurt Locker," and screenwriter Mark Boal.
Rep. Peter King (R-n.Y.), chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, said in a statement Wednesday that the emails tell a "damning story of extremely close, unprecedented, and potentially dangerous collaboration" with top officials at the CIA, Department of Defense and the White House, as well as with a top Democratic lobbying firm, the Glover Park Group.
