As host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah is extremely informed about the world of politics. But despite his wealth of knowledge, there is one thing he refuses to make any predictions about.

We look back at M Night Shyamalan's much-vilified fantasy movie, and ask if anything could have saved it...
“The Last Airbender is an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented.”
So began Roger Ebert's review of The Last Airbender. It sounds harsh, but Ebert's half-star verdict was fairly representative of the tidal wave of criticism that engulfed director M. Night Shyamalan's most expensive and, ultimately, most derided film yet.
But unlike other misfires from Shyamalan, this wasn't based on his own original idea. It was the first of a planned trilogy based on the beloved Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which was hugely acclaimed for its visual sense, engrossing storytelling and lively, vibrant characters. What went wrong? It's almost harder to try and figure out what, if anything, went right.

I have found myself watching more TV this year than ever before. There are many shows I still need to catch up on (Mad Men, Justified, Arrow to name a few), but there are decent amount of shows I am somewhat current with. It has been said we are in the Golden Age of TV and I have to agree. TV shows are tackling concepts that were once impossible, Oscar winning actors are now showing up on notable TV networks, and certain shows look as good as any movie. After much thought I put together a listing of the best shows I have experienced this year so far.

Earlier this week, Japan finally passed a law that prohibited child pornography, which is of course incredibly overdue. Remarkably, though, their tardiness to basic human decency isn't even the weirdest part of the story, as Jon Stewart pointed out on Thursday night. Thanks to the power of the manga and anime industry — a multi-billion dollar profit center in Japan — there is a loophole that allows cartoons and comics to still depict hardcore kid sex. See video: Jon Stewart Declares CNN the Ron Jeremy Network: ‘The Only Network That Can Blow Itself’ “That is embarrassing, Japan. That is embarrassing,” Stewart admonished.

Most Shocking Plot Twist: Just when we had begun to bemoan the surprising lack of plot twists during this third season of Game Of Thrones came a wedding to remember. One that gave new meaning to Cersei Lannister’s words, “When you play the game of thrones you win or you die. There is no middle ground.”
Coolest Fandom: The only thing more shocking than Game Of Thrones “red wedding” was the job those fortunate enough to have already read the source material have done when it comes to keeping their traps shut. Seriously. Us non-book readers salute you!
Coolest Campaign: A Kickstarter campaign was launched — pun intended — with the goal of raising enough money to put a Tardis in space. Those asking what a Tardis is just lost major cool points in our eyes.

Election Day is finally here!
We’ve been bombarded with political ad after political ad (to the point that some of us burst into tears at the mention of President Barack Obama or Gov. Mitt Romney), but one of the most divisive presidential elections in U.S. history is almost over.
After you cast your ballot, you will most likely turn on the TV to watch the returns this evening. With more channels than ever, you will have to make one more choice before the clock strikes midnight: Which election coverage to watch.
Just as you should be informed about your presidential nominees, you should be informed about your election night coverage options. Check out the candidates below:
Broadcast Networks
• NBC: The Peacock network’s election special begins at 7:00 p.m. Est/4 p.m. Pst and lasts until 3 a.m. Est./12 a.m.

The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards did not pack a lot of surprises in terms of the winners, give or take a Jon Cryer. So perhaps it was fitting that the night ended with "Modern Family" winning its third straight Emmy for best comedy.
It was a good night to be a favorite at the Emmys: "Modern Family" once again swept the comedy supporting actor and actress awards, with Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen each picking up their second statues. Co-creator Steven Levitan also won the comedy directing award.
"Homeland" dethroned four-time winner "Mad Men" as best drama series, a mild upset, but the Showtime series was almost universally lauded as the best newcomer of 2011-12. HBO's "Game Change" won several movie/miniseries honors, and "The Daily Show" and "The Amazing Race" continued their long histories of Emmy success. "The Daily Show" has now won the Emmy for best comedy...

New details of NBC's "The Tonight Show" budget cuts from August reveal that late-night host Jay Leno agreed to a 50 percent pay cut, single-handedly slimming the show's overall budget by 20 percent, the Wall Street Journal reports.
NBC's new budget for the show amounts to $80 million, down from $100 million. After the cut, Leno's new salary will account for $15 million of the overall total. The talk show king also extended his contract with the network through 2014.
In August, the Los Angeles Times reported Leno volunteered to the salary cut if it could save the jobs of some of the show's 200 odd staffers. Even with the gesture, close to 20 workers were laid off, Deadline.com reported
"Jay's foremost concern is for the wonderful people who work for 'The Tonight Show,'" Bruce Bobbins, one of Leno's spokesmen, said in a statement. "He did what was necessary to ensure their well-being."

I write an article at movies.com called Trailer Truth. Here are the three latest I’ve written. Give it some love, comments, tweets, Facebook affection.
I never watch a trailer until after I’ve seen the movie, and I also attempt to avoid as much news as possible. Then I compare what I knew, to what you knew. Let’s find out if what we see in the trailer is what we get, and if there is any advantage to going in fresh. (There will be spoilers.)
Dark Shadows
What I Knew Before: Dark Shadows isn’t just another chance for BFFs Tim Burton andJohnny Depp to hang out in creepy, dark corners. It was one of the oddest soap operas ever. I caught a few back when the Syfy Network was brand new (I think) and airing the reruns. (Actually, I’m thinking of the failed remake starring Ben Cross and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Chicago – The British wit John Oliver has stormed the shores of the former colonies with his dry antics, as featured correspondent on “The Daily Show” and his recurring role on “Community.” His stand-up was featured at the TBS “Just for Laughs Chicago” comedy festival, playing before a packed house at The Vic Theater.
Oliver was born in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and came to America via his stand-up that began at the famous Edinburgh Festival in 2001. He began his stint on “The Daily Show” in 2006, and won an Emmy for his work there in 2009. He also plays Dr. Ian Duncan on “Community,” and was featured prominently in the pilot of that show.
