The moral panic associated with 'Video Nasties' in 1980s Great Britain is a cultural and political phenomenon that continues to live on in infamy in the memories of UK horror fanatics, including indie comic writer Mario Covone, who spoke to us about his new series, Video Nasty, which takes place during the mindless witch hunt of the times.
Having previously been founder and manager of the pioneering comic book store 'Apocalypse Comics', Covone makes his physically published debut with Video Nasty.

Covone says, "I have always had a deep love for the medium of comic books and known that I wanted to be a part of the industry in some capacity, but growing up in a small...

Reaper Comics has launched a new six-issue comic in the UK entitled Video Nasty, and we have a look at it for you here. It's by Mario Covone, hailed as "an exciting new voice in comics with a cool new spin on a provocative subject" by director Jake West (Doghouse).
The comic explores the real world politics behind government censorship and media manipulation in 1980's Britain while still maintaining the core of being a fictional horror story.
Covone, writer of the award-nominated web strip Circles, makes his published debut with Video Nasty. Mario is the former managing director of Apocalypse Comics and was an integral part of some innovative work with conventions and bringing more comic book variant covers to the UK than any comic shop before or since.
The artist, Vasilis Logios, makes his debut to comics outside of mainland Europe, but he has worked tirelessly for years in...

There’d been an online buzz about Mario Covone’s new horror comic Video Nasty, which tells a scary story that at the same time deals with the politics behind government censorship and media manipulation before this past weekend’s Glasgow Frightfest – however it was this weekend when I managed to grab a copy of the ashcan for the book which, whilst not revealing much about the over-arcing story, provided a great look at the artwork and script of what looks to be an unmissable read.
