New Delhi, Sep 8 (Ians) The teaser of Kiran Rao’s directorial ‘Laapataa Ladies’ released on Friday, and gave a sneak peek of a mess created around the search for two young lost brides. Kiran had earlier directed the 2010 film ‘Dhobi Ghat’ starring Aamir Khan, Prateik Babbar, Monica Dogra, and Kriti Malhotra in the lead roles.
Now, Kiran has once again collaborated with Aamir for ‘Laapataa Ladies’. The teaser of ‘Laapataa Ladies’ looks extremely entertaining while it transports us to the backdrop of rural India. While, it exudes the vibes of a clear mess set around the search for the two lost brides, it brings along humour in every frame.
The teaser starts with the character of newly wed groom Deepak Kumar, who is travelling in a train with his wife. After three days of marriage, while returning home, Deepak’s bride goes missing from the train. Deepak can be seen...

Foreword
Web series on streaming platforms have warranted a far more emotional investment both for actors in the cast and from the viewers who would try and get involved in the characters. Their sequels, however, are rarely as engrossing as the original first season of episodic developments. And for the same reason, I, for one, am a tad sceptical about watching successive seasons with as much enthusiasm as I am for the preceding ones. Unless it is ‘Made In Heaven’.
Made in Heaven Season 2
This series is a compelling watch and though there isn’t anything spectacularly novel about its storyline, the production values, immaculate writing and superb acting by the entire cast makes it riveting. It represents what present-day India is all about. Conservative on the one hand and modern in many ways with progressive mindsets of traditional people who face conflicting ideas to deal with at every step.

Vasan Bala’s first feature film, Peddlers, follows the lives of three unrelated individuals whose lives gradually intersect: Mac (Siddharth Menon), a streetwise orphan who deals drugs and does odd jobs; Bilkis (Kriti Malhotra), a young former chemistry teacher with cancer who comes to Mumbai to work as a drug mule, and eventually gets work in the factory where the drugs are manufactured; and a cop, Ranjit,(Gulshan Devaiah) with a reputation as a seducer, but whose impotence drives him to sudden outbursts of rage. Mac meets and falls for Bilkis, and the two of them begin to develop a tentative relationship. Their paths eventually cross that of the brutal and violent Ranjit one day when he is following up on a tip that he hopes will lead him to a connection. Peddlers
Directed by Vasan Bala
2012, India, 116 minutes
A disarming film deserves a disarming title. The word ‘peddlers’ evokes quaint images of merchants shuffling through marketplaces with baked goods, or perhaps wandering salesmen looking to unload knickknacks. A casual or clueless traveller to Mumbai will see just that: millions of people, in business for themselves, selling to one another. Casual and clueless though we may be, director Vasan Bala is not, we are fortunate to have such a savvy and sympathetic guide to Mumbai’s marginalized outskirts and rich underworld.
Peddlers follows three main characters, initially only tangentially related: Mac (Siddharth Menon), a petty drug dealer, Ranjit (Gulshan Devaiah), a rookie narco officer, and Bilkis (Kriti Malhotra), a former chemistry teacher turned mule. One of the main reasons for this film’s considerable success is the strength of these performances. Mac manages to be both naïve and street-smart, tough but coy,...
