UK-based female-focused film organisation Birds’ Eye View has revealed the 18 first-time filmmakers selected for this year’s Filmonomics business training programme.
The cohort have been chosen for the sixth iteration of the scheme, which is aimed at feature writers, directors and producers of marginalised genders who are either on the verge of making their first feature, or have just made or released their debut.

Steve Lewis, the long-time distribution executive at UK exhibitor and distributor Curzon, is departing the company in August.
In his place, the company is making two key promotions: head of TV and digital sales Barbara Dias will move up to become head of distribution sales and home entertainment, and head of publicity Jake Garriock will become head of distribution strategy and group publicity.
The pair, alongside head of distribution marketing Susie Bould, will oversee the company’s distribution business. Kate Gerova, recently promoted to group marketing and brand director, continues in her role and advises on distribution matters.
