Michael Sheen is in talks to join Vin Diesel in Sony’s “Bloodshot,” an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
Sheen would play Dr. Emil Harting, the genius responsible for the cutting-edge nanotechnology that exists inside the human body to not only repair it, but push it further than normal human limitations. Eiza Gonzalez (“Baby Driver”) is circling the love interest role in the film.
The studio will start principal photography in July. The film will also reunite Diesel with “Fast and the Furious” mega-producer Neal Moritz, who is producing alongside Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani. This is the first time that Moritz and Diesel have worked together outside of the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

The Valiant cinematic universe takes a step closer, as Vin Diesel enters talks to headline Bloodshot.
We're moving closer to that Valiant Cinematic Universe. For quite some time now, Sony has been developing properties from Valiant Entertainment's excellent line of superhero and sci-fi projects, including Harbinger, Archer & Armstrong, a Quantum & Woody TV series (with the Russo Bros. involved), and Bloodshot.
Bloodshot, the story of a nanite powered super soldier, will kick things off, to be followed by the Harbinger movie. And right now, Bloodshot is moving even closer to reality.
Bloodshot has a director (Dave Wilson) and an Oscar nominated screenwriter (Arrival's Eric Heisserer), and now Sony is looking to find the right star. The Wrap reports that Vin Diesel is apparently in talks for the title role. If Diesel ends up in the role, expect him to appear in Bloodshot, its sequel, and then a Harbinger Wars team-up film.

All these films will be based on Valient comic books that will also include Harbinger.
If cast, Diesel will play Angelo Mortalli, "a ruthless killer for the mob who is set up by the family and framed for a murder. He instead goes into Witness Protection, but is betrayed by an FBI agent guarding him, kidnapped and forcibly subjected to an experimental program in which his body is injected with microscopic computers called nanites. They erase his brain and rebuild it and his body to be a weapon with superhuman strength and healing powers."

Actor Vin Diesel is in negotiation to star in Sony's developing live-action R-rated feature based on Valiant Entertainment's "Bloodshot" comic book series, to be produced by Neal Moritz and Valiant's Dinesh Shamdasani, for director Dave Wilson:
Created by Kevin VanHook and Yvel Guichet in 1992, "Bloodshot" follows a former soldier with powers of regeneration and 'meta-morphing' made possible through 'nanites' injected into his blood.
After having his memory wiped numerous times, 'Bloodshot' is out to discover who he really is and get vengeance on those who did this to him.
His bloodstream contains a billion 'nanocomputers', enabling him to heal from injuries quickly, interface with technology and shape shift his mass.

Could Vin Diesel be the one to spearhead Sony’s fledgling Valiant universe?
That’s the latest comic book-related rumor doing the rounds online, with The Wrap claiming that Diesel has now entered talks to star in Bloodshot, presumably at the expense of Jared Leto.
The Suicide Squad and Blade Runner 2049 star was originally linked with the long-gestating project six months ago, during which time the likes of Oscar Isaac (The Last Jedi) and James McAvoy (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) were seemingly in contention, too.
Fast forward to now, and it seems Sony has whittled down its list of potential super-soldiers to only one – Vin Diesel. Should a deal place, the Fast and Furious veteran will help launch a five-film series based on popular Valiant comics in the vein of “Harbinger” and “Bloodshot,” and we understand the latter adaptation will be angled as an R-rated feature in the spirit of Logan and Deadpool.
