If you wish to be a writer, write. Quentin Tarantino has always considered himself a writer first and a filmmaker second. With his long-rumored tenth and final film on the horizon, and his newfound life as a family man, Tarantino is finally starting to wind down the purring motors of his director mind in order to transition to a more sedentary lifestyle as an author. Speaking to Rolling Stone's Peter Travers when his ninth film,"Once Upon A Time in Hollywood," was nominated for 10 Oscars in 2020, Tarantino shared his vision for the next phase of his career.
"I kind of feel this is the time for the third act [of my life] to just lean a little bit more into the literary, which would be good as a new father, as a new husband," he reflected. "I can be a little bit more of a homebody, and become a little bit more of a man of letters.

There’s one big, fundamental problem with Zendaya taking the role of Nikki in another Kill Bill movie, and it’s the same issue that comes from the idea of a third movie even coming out. Quentin Tarantino actually stated that he wants to retire after his next movie, and he has a couple of options on the table at the moment as to which movie that might be. Maybe this will be his final picture, but if not then it would mean that just like a lot of people in Hollywood, his words don’t mean that much. It’s true, another volume

Oh the horror. Low budget movies. This one is titled Nobody Gets Out Alive (2013) written and directed by Jason Christopher. Will anyone get out alive? Yes. So much for titles. Jenn (Jen Dance) is just out of the hospital after having a nervous breakdown or something and her friend Michele (Chelsey Garner) organizes a trip out to the woods. Michele hopes to be proposed to by Mike (Shaun Paul Costello). They’re joined by a poor man’s Jay Mohr named Deron (David J. Bonner), a Zack Galifinakas impersonator Jared (Chris Ready), a Tara Reid hopeful called Angie (Nikki Bell), and a pointlessly aggressive jerk called Danny (Matthew Nadu). For some reason, the murderer, Mr. Isth (Brian Gallagher)—worst evil name ever—kills the people who run a convenience store. Anyway, the gang go out to the...

At age 21 actor/director Joe Raffa is already making quite a name for himself on the independent filmmaking scene. His first directorial effort (which he also wrote and co-starred in) - You'll Know My Name - has already been nabbed for distribution after a successful festival run in 2011.
He's currently in post-production on his follow-up project called Six Degrees of Hell, a supernatural thriller starring Corey Feldman, Nikki Bell, Jill Whelan, Brian Anthony Wilson and Raffa as well; and Dread Central recently caught up with the up-and-coming filmmaker to discuss his experiences making both You'll Know My Name and Six Degrees of Hell, why he won't ever star in a film he directs again and why the dark side of storytelling is so compelling to him.

Seriously? We're in love with this one-sheet. Just like back in the early Eighties, one glance at this beauty would be enough for me to watch the flick without knowing a damned thing about it. Dig on this new eye candy for Six Degrees of Hell!
Starring Corey Feldman, the film features stand-out performances from veterans Jill Whelan, Brian Anthony Wilson, Susan Moses, and Tom McCarthy. Joe Raffa, Nikki Bell, Kyle Patrick Brennan, Nicole Cinaglia, and David Bonner co-star. Six Degrees of Hell was directed by Joe Raffa and penned by Harrison Smith of the upcoming Cloris Leachman thriller, The Fields.
Synopsis:
Six people and their lives are stitched together by a supernatural force that has laid claim to one of them. A Halloween haunted establishment is ground zero for a paranormal perfect storm inadvertently touched off by a seemingly random series of events.

People really love slasher flicks. They never seem to go out of style and probably never will. The reason for this is simple: Slasher movies are stripped-down formula filmmaking, and when they're done right, they're extremely effective. But when they're not done right, well, you know.
Down the Road, writer/director Jason Christopher's recent entry in the slasher subgenre, is just such an exercise in stripped-down formula filmmaking. And though Christopher's film gets a lot right, it never quite overcomes what it gets wrong.
Christopher puts all the pieces in place and begins solidly by developing a believable new mythology, something not enough of these movies bother to do. Years ago, a young girl was killed by a drunk driver.

Indie horror filmmaker Jason Christopher dropped us a line last night to share with us the first of two teaser trailers for his upcoming slasher movie Down the Road and give us an update on the project.
Christopher told us, "This is the first of two official trailers coming out for the flick. I cut this one. It's a more serious overview of the flick that we're going to see. Straight to the point. The second trailer that is being cut by director/editor Matthew Lauyer will be more fun in the beginning, more fast-paced, and something really ‘in your face.’ This one explores just how messed up the world is that we created and gives you a good look at Clint Howard's character in the film.”

Down the Road stars Shaun Paul Costello, Chris Ready, Chelsey Garner, David J. Bonner, Nikki Bell, Jen Dance, Matthew Nadu, and the legendary Clint Howard. "The film pays homage to films such as Friday the 13th and Halloween," says producer Deven Lobascio.
Down the Road follows a group of college students who end up getting more than they bargained for when they head to the woods for a little downtime only to encounter a revenge-seeking madman hellbent on teaching them why it’s never a good idea to hang out in the woods.

For up-and-coming genre writer/director Jason Christopher, horror has been a way of life for him for as long as he can remember. “I grew up watching horror movies ever since I was a little kid because I would get obsessed with the cover art on the VHS boxes."
Christopher continues, "The art on old-school horror boxes used to be so badass so that’s what got me hooked. I loved the eye candy and my love for horror grew from there. I had always wanted to do a horror movie and had always kept outlines for different ideas but nothing came of it. It wasn’t until my dad passed away that I really wanted to pen one to get out my anger and whatever and that’s how Down the Road started off.”

Just yesterday I was talking about why it's wise to stay out of the fucking woods if you don't belong there, but I guess we should be thankful for those unfortunate dolts who think they're heading there for a good time only to become meat for the beast. Hey, it makes for good movie watching!
