Joanna Montero is a film editor and video artist from Cuba. She has edited numerous acclaimed feature and short films that have premiered at Toronto, San Sebastián, Rotterdam, IDFA and Sundance among other world film festivals. Graduated in Mathematics from the University of Havana, she worked at the Cuban Film Institute and has also served as editing professor and film editor at the "San Antonio de Los Baños" International Film & TV School (EICTV). She has been an Alumni of Guadalajara Talents and Berlinale Talents, where she participated in masterclasses, workshops and specialized labs. Her editing credits on features include "VENECIA" (2014); "SANTA & ANDRÉS" (2016); "THE EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY OF CELESTE GARCÍA" (2018); "VICENTA B." (2022); and "WILD WOMAN" (2023). As an editor for award-winning feature documentaries like "THEY ARE WE" (2013) and "MAFIFA" (2021), she has made substantial contributions to the writing and crafting of compelling narratives. Her solid film body of work has made her win recognition and awards in Cuba, Brazil, Switzerland and the United States. Beyond her skills in film editing, Joanna has spent the last decade collaborating as a filmmaker with performers, theater directors and visual artists, showcasing her versatility and innovative approach to storytelling through visual mediums.
