The Berlin International Film Festival has finalised its competition and Berlinale Special strands.
Joining the festival in Out Of Competition berths are Stanley Tucci-directed Final Portrait and Catherine Deneuve drama Sage Femme.

Rolling the dice on a live-action Monopoly movie is something that’s been in contention for years at this point, and though Hasbro’s classic board game of micro-management and capitalism doesn’t necessarily scream adaptation, buoyed by Battleships‘ financial turnover, the toy manufacturer is keen to set the wheels in motion over at Lionsgate.
But according to Deadline, another figure has emerged onto the starting grid – and no, it’s not the iron or the dog, but rather production company Big Beach. Recruiting Little Miss Sunshine producers Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf for the adaptation, it’s understood that this particular take on the Monopoly brand is completely unrelated to Hasbro’s official rendition.

Howard A. Rodman has been elected as the new president of the Writers Guild of America West, the union said Monday. The two-time vice president of the Wgaw received 1,557 votes to defeat opponent Joan Meyerson, who had 749 votes. He will replace current WGA West president Chris Keyser, who was prevented by guild rules from seeking a third consecutive term. Rodman has been active in guild politics for more than a decade with screen credits on “Joe Gould’s Secret,” “Savage Grace” and “August.” He’s also a professor and former chair of the writing division at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
