Gas up the Learjets and break out the Moncler vests, it’s time for corporate chieftains to let their hair down, as only the one percent of the one percent knows how.
Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg, Warner Bros. And Bob Iger, back on the throne at the Walt Disney Company, will also be touching down in the resort town after a brief, unhappy (for shareholders) interregnum. They’ll be mixing and mingling with other media barons, Silicon Valley heavyweights and political players at the media finance retreat hosted by Allen & Co.

The action thriller also stars Dar Salim (Game of Thrones), Antony Starr (The Boys), Alexander Ludwig (Heels), Bobby Schofield (Black Sea), Emily Beecham (1899), and Jonny Lee Miller (The Crown). Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies co-wrote the screenplay, and Ritchie, Atkinson, John Friedberg, and Josh Berger serve as producers. Samantha Waite, Olga Filipuk, Robert Simonds, and Adam Fogelson executive produce.
The R-rated drama opens in theaters on April 21, 2023.

Vue International boss Tim Richards is stepping in as chair of the British Film Institute (BFI) at one of the most pivotal moments in the org’s history.
The U.K. industry has weathered close to a year of the coronavirus pandemic and three national lockdowns, the most recent of which is still in place. While film and TV production has been allowed to continue throughout, and overall spend ($3.9 billion) dropped, remarkably, just 21% in 2020 — faring significantly better than most feared — the country’s cinemas, including the BFI’s own venues, have remained shuttered since December.
Meanwhile, wider industry issues aside, the org’s ambitious strategic plan, BFI2022, announced in 2016, is coming to an end next year, and a new and presumably Covid-proof formula will need to be instated, all while maintaining the groundbreaking diversity standards championed by Richards’ predecessor Josh Berger, the former Warner Bros. U.K. boss who chaired the BFI for 10 years.

Polly Cochrane is set to succeed Josh Berger as head of the U.K. and Ireland for WarnerMedia, Variety can reveal.
Cochrane, who marks 11 years with the studio this year, currently serves as executive vice president and group marketing director for Warner Bros. UK and Ireland, and chief marketing officer for Harry Potter global franchise development.
Sources tell Variety that Cochrane’s new title will be country manager for WarnerMedia, with oversight of the U.K. and Ireland. In the new role, she will oversee all commercial and group marketing activities in the region.
Noticeably, Berger also oversaw Spain, but a strategy for this market is believed to be still in process. Similarly, it’s unclear how the studio will handle continued leadership of the Harry Potter global franchise development.

A musical about the great Temptations is headed to Broadway. Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations, directed by Des McAnuff and produced by Ira Pittelman and Tom Hulce, will begin performances at the Imperial Theatre in spring 2019.
The musical, which follows the classic Motown vocalists – and their signature dance moves – from “the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” had its world premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where it became the highest grossing production in that theater’s nearly 50-year history. The musical later broke the single-week box office record at Washington D.C.’s Eisenhower Theater in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, according to producers.
Producers describe the show as the “story of brotherhood, family, loyalty, and betrayal,” all playing out against a backdrop of civil unrest and set to Temptations classics like “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,...

Industry heavyweights back 10-point initiative to boost UK crews.
This evening (June 28), the British Film Institute (BFI) launched the Film Skills Strategy plan, an ambitious new programme with a 10-point plan to tackle skill shortages in the industry.
The BFI will invest £20m of lottery funding over five years into the scheme. It is anticipated this investment will leverage match funding from the industry’s own Skills Investment Fund to fund the action plan.
The programme also aims to address the still chronic lack of representation and inclusion in the workforce at a time when UK film is worth an estimated £4.3bn to the British economy and inward investment is continuing to rise.
Culture Secretary Karen Bradley, James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, BFI chair Josh Berger and BFI CEO Amanda Nevill were at the House of Commons for the launch of Future Film Skills - An Action Plan.
