James Ross, who won RuPaul’s Drag Race as Tyra Sanchez, was arrested last month in Florida. This week, bodycam from the arresting officers was released.
The 35-year-old, whose birth name is James William Ross IV, joined the drag competition in 2010 and won $25,000 in addition to winning the crown.

RuPaul’s Drag Race acting challenges were a significant part of the reality television competition show’s early days. They continue to hold an important place on the show, allowing the drag queen contestants to demonstrate their performance skills in a unique way. But, some longtime fans wonder if they have the opportunity to watch the finished acting challenge before critiques.

Shante, you slay.
We're nearing the end of RuPaul's Drag Race's fifth season, and that means it's time to make an important list: the 10 funniest queens in the show's history. In an age when people like Vivienne Pinay and Ivy Winters insist that fishiness is more important than comic chops, we need to fight back. I watch this show for unbridled sauciness, wit, and unapologetic humor, and these ten queens all boasted fine gut-busting instincts.
10. Detox
I have to be honest: I nearly gave this spot to Tatianna, whose performance as Britney Spears remains Snatch Game's most hilarious triumph, but Detox is truly the funnier performer. Her wise-ass commentaries, chicken fierceness, amazing side-eye, jaw-wagging lip-sync skills, and general weariness of everything are total treats. She'd probably laugh more at herself if her facial muscles were capable of abject glee. I'm always waiting to hear her next confessional, particularly after...

We wait every year on RuPaul's Drag Race for the return of "Snatch Game," the phenomenally gaudy send-up of Match Game, where the queens parody celebrities, and this year's exhibition was damn loony. Jinkx Monsoon triumphed as Little Edie Bouvier thanks to a dead-on voice performance, and Alaska's strange, but spirited version of Lady Bunny was just as dynamic. However, some queens flailed before guest-judges Julie Brown and Downtown Julie Brown (yes, both MTV legends were present), and one such underachiever was Lineysha Sparx, the Puerto Rican looker who couldn't quite sell her impersonation of Celia Cruz. In a final lip-sync against Detox, Lineysha's sass was no match for Detox's unforgettably bizarre, jaw-quavering take on Cher.
We spoke briefly to Lineysha, a.k.a. 24-year-old Andy Trinidad, about her time on the show and discussed the problems with language barriers and attempting comedy.
AfterElton: I loved your runway presentation in the first challenge.

The second episode of RuPaul's Drag Race's fifth season delighted us with a quirky, unexpected challenge: The 13 remaining queens were tasked with reenacting classic moments from the past four seasons of Drag Race. The challenge called for precise lip-sync skills and dramatic acting chops from everyone, and it's clear whose pantomime was worthier of kudos from guest judges Kristen Johnston and Juliette Lewis: Lineysha Sparx walked off with the title for her dead-on, hilarious impersonation of Tyra Sanchez (though it helped that the resemblance was uncanny), and beleaguered Panamanian queen Serena ChaCha, a.k.a. Myron Morgan, ended up in the bottom two thanks to her uninspired take on Raja. After surviving last week's survival lip-sync, Serena lost to Monica Beverly Hillz in a final performance of Rihanna's "Only Girl (in the World)."

Where once summer TV was made up almost exclusively of stale reruns – and perhaps a couple of new second-rate game shows that no one really cared about – there’s been a paradigm shift over the last decade or so in which the once-unadventurous cable networks started indulging in this little thing called original programming.
What’s more, many of them are now choosing to debut a slew of their original series during the warmer months to avoid competition from the “Big Four”, which can only equal happiness for a legion of loyal couch potatoes. I mean hell, who needs the outdoors anyway, right?
Here are twelve new and returning shows to keep you cool this summer. Before all you True Blood and Torchwood fanatics go bonkers on me, this list is highlighting shows AfterElton.com doesn’t already cover extensively. Hey, it might be summer, but you can still broaden your horizons some!

Ok, No spoilers here before the jump, but… It happened. RuPaul’s Drag Race — and America — has its very own “Next Drag Superstar!!!” After weeks of Queens from Outer Space, Heathers, Boogers, fighting, “halleloo-ing,” cakes, jocks in frocks, former queens being bought back, naked lip-sync battles and a few meltdowns on the runway (and in the workroom) it’s ovaaaahhhh!
I’m guessing some of you loooooove the final results and some of you may be fuming! I remember last year when Tyra Sanchez’s victory was considered controversial. Will this one be as incendiary? Maybe! And why not? Drag (and “drag races” or any reality show competitions) should never be safe.

Although last week’s RuPaul’s Drag Race pared the field of queens down to the final three, tonight’s edition of the reality extravaganza won’t crown America’s Next Drag Superstar. The constant bitchiness of drag queens never ceases to amaze me. When RuPaul brought last season’s first cast-off, Shangela Laquifa Wadley, back into the Drag Race fold in this season’s premiere episode, no one, least of all me, had too high of hopes for the queen. We’d seen the woefully under-prepared Shangela peter out and generally be annoying last season — and as I just mentioned, she managed to squash any goodwill she had in just one measly episode.

The most hilarious things transpire on fashion-centric reality shows when the word “couture” enters the competitive mix. The main challenge on night’s edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race is the perfect example of the craziness the word inspires: The queens were solicited to create a couture, one-of-a-kind runway look based on one of eight different cakes, including pineapple upside down cake, chocolate lava cake, princess cake, and so on. Truly, it’s a genius test, seeing as how ridiculously over-the-top pastries should provide the ample inspiration for just as over-the-top — and thus couture — fashions on the runway.

So, Raja might not have won last night’s newscasting challenge on RuPaul’s Drag Race — that honor went to the pineapple-perfect and politically incorrect Manila Luzon — but the episode, which saw the statuesque queen don three amazing looks, certainly raised this question: Does Raja already have the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar on lock for this season? The realness of this quandary lingered in my mind as I watched last night’s episode — I literally couldn’t stop thinking that thought, which is why I’m blogging about it in the wee hours of the morning and bringing the question to you,...

Things are getting real heavy on RuPaul’s Drag Race this season. And that’s mostly because, so far, the show has mostly focused on its three delightful big-girl contestants: Mimi Imfurst, Delta Work, and Stacy Layne Matthews. Not that I’m complaining—at all. That’s certainly been a very good thing. And while the headline to this mini recap of last night’s episode might lead you to believe that a big girl won the competition, those of you who watched know that’s certainly not the case. In fact, not only did a big girl not win the competition,...

Last night’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race launched with the queens doing a mini-challenge centered around Esp, or Extra Sensory Perception, where the ladies paired up and one half of them tried to guess what their partner was sporting, wig-, pussycat- or boa-wise. (As you might guess, none of them were too good in this situation.) But the most hilarious thing about that is that the Esp challenge was the least weird thing about the episode: Before long, during the show’s hour, the ladies were donning wacky, futuristic costumes (see: above!) and, while split into two teams with leaders Mariah and Phoenix,...

It was a foregone conclusion that RuPaul would eventually bring back a sashayed, old queen from a past season to be a contestant again on RuPaul’s Drag Race. In the reality competition world, that move is nearly older than RuPaul herself. But the gal that was chosen for this extremely illustrious distinction was completely out of left field: It was none other than last season’s polarizing first-episode cast-off, the delightfully named Shangela! “And it’s Shangela!” said fellow contestant Mariah, in reaction. “Halle-lou!” she added, referencing Shangela’s “famous” sound bite. Halle-lou, indeed!

Kate Davies has a fun four-part interview with Eric Sheffer Stevens about his life after As The World Turns, and he reveals how surprised he was by the popularity of the late, lamented Dr. Reid Oliver. RuPaul's Drag Race Season Two winner Tyra Sanchez will "trade high heels for ski boots" when she performs at Winterpride in Whistler, B.C. on January 29th and February 5th. I don't know, I really can't picture her shushing down the slopes. If you can't get to NYC to see it, The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway will be filmed in January and be shown on HBO sometime in 2011. TheNewGay has their own channel on ... that one site, and below you can see them present a special performance from The New Pornographers in acknowledgment of the "It Gets Better" project.

Being a midseason show has its ups and downs. On one hand, you don’t have to deal with the absolute insanity of premiere week and you get to begin airing at a time when early darkness and inclimate weather increase the time that people are inside during the evening hours. On the other, however, you premiere after some people have set their viewing habits and you simply may not get the type of marketing push that you would have gotten had you debuted in the fall.
The 2010-11 midseason (at least for me) is marked by aliens, parodies, remakes, tough Kentucky sheriffs, polygamists, drag queens, hookers, football players, boxers, cops, and more scheduling shifts than you can shake a stick at. Thanks, NBC. However, this relative grab bag subject matter also means that there are many questions that will be addressed and subsequently answered in the next 5 months. I...

We here at EW have made no secret of our love for Drag Race season 2 contestant Pandora Boxx (at left). Just take a look back at my TV recap of the episode this past March when she was voted off the show, when I called her offing the most “controversial elimination of the season.” Or, in the print magazine, when we wrote on Bullseye: “Pandora Boxx, in our hearts you are America’s Next Drag Superstar… even if RuPaul doesn’t think so.” We love! And, of course, we’ve loved seeing her return to Logo and the RuPaul world...

To open the series premiere of RuPaul’s Drag U, RuPaul described the little drag university she’d lovingly created. “Deep in the Titty-Caca Valley,” said the diva, “a school was formed to help biological women unleash their inner diva, and let the world have it!” The ladies, she continued, were “ready to change their lives through the miracle of drag.” Yes, girls and other girls, RuPaul has taken her glamorous lady-eye and turned it toward frumpy gals who need a little help from the other side. The other side, of course, being their lady-boy friends and former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants,...

Face it: Summer television is A) not gay enough (True Blood can’t do it all!), and B) sadly devoid of the presence of RuPaul. But thank your lucky stars, because tonight TV gets gayer and draggier — and RuPaul reemerges! That’s right: It’s the much-anticipated premiere of RuPaul’s Drag U, the Drag Race spin-off that features some of the original show’s fave queens making over straight ladies — RuPaul calls them “biological women” — who are in dire need of some Tlc and a new look. Tonight, specifically, centers on “lady-boys” Jujubee, Ongina, and Raven — loves these three so much!

If anyone can pick a pop culture winner it's the gays, right? Tonight at 10:00pm the Logo channel (our parent company) is airing the 2010 NewNowNext Awards. For those few people left on the planet who aren't familiar with them, these awards are about finding today what will be trending tomorrow. While other awards honor those who have already made it, Nnn Awards sets its sights on brink of fame up-and-comers who are just beginning to be buzzed about.
Logo's Nnn Awards have earned a reputation for calling the trends long before they hit the mainstream. Lady Gaga gave her first televised performance here, a year before she won at the VMAs and wowed the world. True Blood was showered with kudos long before it won an Emmy. And Twilight was nominated for an Nnn Award before it even hit the silver screen.

RuPaul's Drag Race ended its second season this week, as RuPaul chose Tyra Sanchez, aka James Moss, as the winner over Raven, aka David Petruschin, the runner-up, a controversial decision that has caused some fans to moronically accuse RuPaul of racism. The finale was the network's most-watched show ever, with 633,000 viewers. Because of that, the series has been renewed, as has its behind-the-scenes show Untucked, while an already-announced spin-off, RuPaul's Drag U, airs this...

You Have No Idea How I Suffer For My, Um, Art
If there is any task I truly hate as the editor of AfterElton.com, it's having to deal with the Hot 100 every year. The sheer torture of having to check each and every one of your Hot 100 comments for the photos of hot guys you have posted is excruciating.
I can't tell you how much I dread having to— ooh, someone just a posted a new picture of Eddie Cibrian! And check out that one of Sendhil Ramamurthy! Smokin'!
Cibrian is Spanish for "sex on a stick"
Um, where was I? Anyway, I was going to share my Hot 100 pics this week, but it occurs to me that you guys are probably sick of hot guys by this point. In fact, I can sense you are hungering for something more intellectual, so today's column is devoted to a discussion of quantum mechanics.

This has to stop.
On Monday, RuPaul revealed the winner of the second season of his RuPaul's Drag Race reality TV show, and it turned out to be Tyra Sanchez.
The choice was controversial. A sizable number of viewers were rooting for the quick-witted Pandora Boxx , who had been eliminated earlier in the season, but who won the Miss Congeniality Award in the reunion show ("by a landslide," RuPaul said).
Others thought plucky, amiable Jujubee would have made a better "Next Drag Superstar," or even foul-mouthed, but always flawlessly-executed Raven.
There are plenty of good reasons to second-guess the actual pick, but racism on the part of RuPaul isn't one of them.
But weirdly, that is precisely what a disturbing number of people are saying, on the Drag Race Facebook page and even here in the comments at AfterElton.com.
What's the evidence? Despite selecting multi-racial casts this year and last,...

Some fierce drag queens from RuPaul's Drag Race stopped over at PopEater to talk about their show (the finale aired on Monday) and dish on some celebrities. JuJuBee, Raven, and Tyra Sanchez were the final three contestants left on the show and after spending a month living with some cut-throat bitches looking to win the title of America's Next Drag Superstar, they learned a few things about trash-talking. PopEater asked the three drag queens to "read" (the drag community term for trash-talking or zinging) some celebrities. The three contestants were game, although they admitted that they weren't comfortable trash-talking America's Cutie Pie...

Maybe it makes sense that the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, which was marked by an unusual amount of backstage conflict, ended with a somewhat controversial winner.
Tyra Sanchez was clearly a favorite of the judges, especially RuPaul, who allowed her to go through the entire season without ever having to lip-synch for her life.
Still, while Tyra’s victory wasn’t a real surprise, it has riled more than a few fans, on the show’s Facebook page and elsewhere. A lot of the uproar surrounds some prima donna behavior Tyra seemed to exhibit early in the season, especially in the “Here Comes the Bride” episode.
But even more interesting than the controversy surrounding Tyra’s victory may be the story of her creator, 21-year-old James Moss. Intriguing details have leaked out all season long: how he has a son who is extremely important to him, how...
