The wilds of Tasmania may seem an unlikely setting for an Australian film based on a Shakespeare play.
Yet shooting is underway in the Derwent Valley on All.s Well That Ends Well, which transplants the narrative to the early 20th Century.
Produced by Fentonbury Films, the project marks the feature directing debuts of Aaron Luke Wilson, an Adelaide graphic designer, and Hobart-based Peter Wilson, a schoolteacher who has produced, directed and acted in Shakespeare productions in Queensland.
Peter and Janie Wilson spent eight years developing the script and sourcing sites in the Derwent Valley. They raised $3,425 (exceeding the $3,000 target) via crowd funding site Pozible towards the costs of production. The cast includes Tasmanian actors Andrew Casey and John X as well as Matthew Stolp, Melanie Brown and Sasha Roubicek.
John Wilson is heading a small team supporting lighting and audio recording and handling props, replicas and VFX.

The creators of the first-ever musical adaptation of King Kong promise “the most ambitious theatrical event of the decade,” with a multi-million dollar production blending new technology and ancient puppetry to bring the massive Kong to life onstage. Five years in the making, the Australia-based show is directed by Daniel Kramer, with an international cast featuring over 40 actors, singers, dancers and circus performers, as well as a one-ton, six-meter-tall Kong designed by Sonny Tilders, whose company Global Creatures created the mind-blowing live arena events “Walking With Dinosaurs” and “How to Train Your Dragon.” Unlike effects guru Carlo Rambaldi's famously failed attempt at creating a life-sized Kong for the 1976 film version, Tilders' new creation taps into his own background in bringing dinosaurs and dragons to life in real-time. “It was going to be the most complex creature we ever made,” he said of the half-robot, half-marionette Kong design, which will...

Recreating cinema's eighth wonder of the world on stage seems no small feat. Even just watching the behind-the-scenes glimpses of all that's gone into this upcoming musical adaptation of King Kong is a bit astounding. Most so, being designer Sonny Tilder's (the lauded Walking With Dinosaurs exhibit) Kong and the team of puppeteers that bring him to life (led by puppetry director Peter Wilson). Kong looks incredible in the latest ad, that simply reveals his face, but the real magic is in one of the many videos detailing the production's development, which reveals concept art, the evolution and manipulation of the creature.
Then, there's composer Marius de Vries (Music Director, Moulin Rouge), who's brought together a serious lineup of artists including electronic heroes Justice and The Avalanches, as well as Sarah McLachlan for recreations of classic tunes and brand new pieces.

When you’ve had an upbringing like Peter Wilson aka Duke Special, it doesn’t really come as a surprise that he became a musician. Saying that, you can’t really say he became a musician – he already was one. Born into it, then.
All of us love our granny’s, don’t we? Unless yours is a miserable witch who only gave you one mint imperial when you visited as a kid, I think it’s probably safe to say that most of us love our little grandmothers. Well, however cool you think yours is, Duke’s takes some beating. If it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t have got his first taste of music – she taught him to play the piano as a young boy, giving him a hunger and desire to play and listen to music whenever he could.

Jim Davidson has been banned from a theatre for 'rude, unacceptable behaviour'. The 57-year-old comedian, known for his near-the-knuckle style, published an email sent to him by Peter Wilson, chief executive of the Theatre Royal, Norwich. Wilson's assessment of the comic's behaviour read: "Very rude to staff. Arguments over figures, drinks etc, and personal comments that are not acceptable. "From the show report of that evening it is plain that you publicly insulted and demeaned my front of house colleagues, offensively queried the house returns, and refused to accept our policy on wheelchair users, and that your company manager Steve Farr behaved as badly. "I'm sorry of course that your many fans - and I'm not for a moment questioning your popularity as an entertainer - have (more)...
