When the character Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne) made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut back in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the idea was that we’d be seeing the character again the following year in her own Disney+ show Ironheart… but 2023 came and went without Ironheart, and the show still doesn’t have an official premiere date. This has caused some fans to speculate that Marvel and Disney+ might have decided to scrap Ironheart, along with the series Wonder Man, which had Yahya Abdul-Mateen II taking on the role of the title character, who is also known as Simon Williams and hasn’t been seen in the MCU yet. But no, Ironheart and Wonder Man are not being scrapped, and in a new interview with Agents of Fandom, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum described the shows as spectacular, amazing, and different.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most spectacular games of the last few years and one of the best role-playing games ever. Larian Studios, creators of the Divinity Saga, went above and beyond to make the Baldur’s Gate 3 experience almost perfect.
The title won the Goty award last year, and it was not an easy one, competing with games like Alan Wake 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. To make this game even more perfect, Nicolas Cage is apparently in the game as well, in a very perfect and funny way.

“Going to Hell for God is the logical end for the Catholic devil,” declares Matt Murdock in 2023’s Daredevil #12.
Matt Murdock isn’t the only religious superhero in the Marvel Universe. In addition to fellow Catholic Nightcrawler of the X-Men, there’s the Presbyterian Christian Wolfsbane, Muslim Ms. Marvel, pantheist Black Panther, and Jewish characters like Moon Knight and Kitty Pryde. But Daredevil might be the Marvel superhero whose religion plays the most pronounced role in his stories.
Of course, Daredevil isn’t the first Marvel hero to go to Hell and literally fight the Devil, as Ghost Rider, the X-Men, and anyone who had to deal with Mephisto can attest. But when it’s guilty Catholic Matt Murdock donning his Daredevil duds to deal with the Devil, then it’s a really big deal. Which is exactly why Chip Zdarsky — who wrote Daredevil #12 with artist Marco Checchetto, colorist Matthew Wilson,...

A couple months ago, we heard a rumor that a team of supernatural characters known as the Midnight Sons might be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe… and now Oscar Isaac has let it be known that if a Midnight Sons project were to happen, he wants his MCU character Moon Knight to be part of it!
As I’ve said before, one of my favorite comic book story arcs is the “Rise of the Midnight Sons”, where Doctor Strange oversaw the formation of a team of supernatural heroes – Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, Morbius, the Nightstalkers, and Darkhold characters Vicki Montesi, Louise Hastings, and Sam Buchanan – who were brought together to battle Lilith, the Mother of All Demons, and her evil offspring, the Lilin. There have been different variations of the Midnight Sons over the years, with other team members like Daimon Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, The Hood,...

The German folklore of Dr. Faust has inspired a number of classic tales, notably legendary playwright Christopher Marlowe’s tragedy “Doctor Faustus”. The literary piece was a modernized morality play in essence, which played an instrumental role in popularizing the thematic significance of the story—the binary of good and evil instincts and the complexities of human nature showcased through supernatural elements of occultism. Shigeru Mizuki’s iconic manga Akuma Kun revolves around the themes explored in Marlowe’s play and additionally incorporates a narrative that includes elements of the diverse world mythology as well. The anime adaptation of its first volume, which was released in the late 1980s, garnered a massive fan following among children, and a continuation of the series as a part of the 100th birth anniversary celebration of the mangaka has recently been released on Netflix.

Akuma Kun just blasted onto Netflix, adding to its impressive anime catalog. Based on the highly successful manga of Shigeru Mizuki, the anime series chronicles the story of Ichiro Matsushita, an Akuma Kun who runs a detective agency, or, as he would like to call it, Millenarianism Research Agency, with his partner-in-crime, Mephisto III, a quirky demon with an unending love for ramen. The anime series is jam-packed with eccentric characters that would make you chuckle and think about the dangers of the world where demons co-exist with humans.
Spoilers Ahead
Akuma Kun
Ichiro Matsushita, known more commonly as Akuma Kun, was a child prodigy who was born every 10,000 years. He was the successor of Shingo Yamada, the last Akuma Kun, who was also his adopted father. The following article contains spoilers for "Loki" season 2, episode 1.
"Loki" season 2 is finally here. It's very likely that you have been impatiently waiting to see the charming Tom Hiddleston as the God of Mischief again, especially since we've been waiting over two years to find out what became of Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) after she stabbed He Who Remains, who just so happens to also be Kang the Conquerer, the big bad of the Multiverse Saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
On March 25, 2023, Majors was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute with a woman. An official police statement said that the woman "sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition." The situation has gotten more complicated over the months since then, and that's making things difficult for Marvel.
So far, Majors has been seen only briefly in trailers for the series,...

“Heroism—a punishment for only the worst criminals. Those sentenced to the fate of a hero are forced to fight on the front lines against deadly centers of contagion that rot the land and turn its creatures into roving armies of violent beasts. And if a hero dies, their only reward is being brought back to life so they can continue the never-ending battle. But when Xylo Forbartz, a member of Penal Hero Unit 9004 and a convicted goddess killer, comes face-to-face with a new goddess, the pact they forge might just be enough to change the world…” (Yen Press)

By 1998, it was a certainty that the studios had all but given up on superhero movies. After the financial flops that were Steel and Spawn, along with the sheer critical universal panning of Batman & Robin, the prospects for future superhero movies seemed dim. In the nineties it was very difficult for even a Batman movie to get off the ground, with properties like Superman, Iron Man, and Spider-Man stuck in a decade long development purgatory at their respective studios.
But in 1998, New Line Cinema took a shot on what was considered a somewhat “C” level superhero in the form of Blade. Within the Marvel Universe there exists a horror sub-universe where characters like Mephisto, Ghost Rider, Morbius, and Man-Thing roam, and Blade was considered one of their greatest foils and adversaries. Created by Gene Colan and Marv Wolfman, Blade was introduced in 1973 in “The Tomb of Dracula” #10. He was one...

There has been a lot of fan speculation about Marvel Comics’ extra-dimensional demon character Mephisto showing up in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project. Many fans were sure Mephisto’s demonic mug was going to show up in WandaVision at some point… but that didn’t happen, so fans started wondering if he’ll be in the WandaVision spin-off Agatha: Coven of Chaos. It remains to be seen if that’s going to happen, but it sounds like we will see Mephisto in the Ironheart series. And it’s RUMORed that while we’ll primarily be seeing Mephisto in human form, there will be “glimpses” of his true demonic form.
Insider @CanWeGetToast claims (as reported by SuperHeroHype), “Mephisto will mostly be seen in his human form in Ironheart, while only giving Glimpses of his true form. Mephisto has The Hood stealing tech for him to build an advanced Bio-Suit in Ironheart.

The world Halsey created around her fifth studio album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power was driven by chaos, a battle for some semblance of control, and a yearning for unreachable emotional intimacy. In the IMAX film she wrote and released alongside the record, the singer took on the role of Queen Lila, whose positioning on the throne lends itself to bloodshed and royal disruption. When the album’s deep cut “Lilith” appears in the movie, lyrics about being corrupted from the inside soundtrack her character’s downfall.

I never really had any doubt that Diablo 4 would be a fun game. It was easy to lose hours (even days) to Diablo 4’s betas. Through ups and downs, the Diablo games have long been fundamentally enjoyable to play.
What worried me most about Diablo 4 was the game’s live-service structure and all of the things that typically go along with that business model. Microtransactions, content gating, the exhaustion of keeping up with a game that never ends…you don’t have to dive too deep into hypotheticals to see how it could all go wrong. Just look at what happened to Diablo Immortal.
So after finally getting to play the (mostly) full version of Diablo 4, it’s my strange duty to report that Diablo 4’s best qualities often work because of the game’s live service nature rather than in spite of them. It’s an odd dynamic that...

Marvel is obviously dominating the pop culture landscape, for better or worse. Movies like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever rule at the box office, while shows such as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law motivate audiences to log into their Disney+ accounts. It’s not hard to see the grip Marvel has on entertainment at the moment. The one medium that Marvel can’t seem to crack, however, is video games. Sure we got some great games like Sony’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales, but good lord we’ve also got clunkers like The Avengers and the underperforming Guardians of the Galaxy (which is actually very good). The output is all over the place and aside from Spider-Man, nothing has really gripped audiences like Marvel’s movies have for many years now. Unfortunately their latest game Marvel’s Midnight Suns – made by the tactical masterminds at...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Trailer: The Song, Adam Warlock, High Evolutionary, Gamora, and More!
The first trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has arrived, and it’s more of the same. If by “the same” you mean more of James Gunn bringing more psychedelic color and rad tunes than should be allowed by law to the MCU, not to mention VFX that look a bit more weighty than some of the drab affairs some of the recent Marvel movies have been. But there’s also some real “last ride for the Guardians” vibes here, and we’re bracing for some heartbreak when the movie arrives in May.
Oh yeah, and it also introduces at least two major Marvel Comics characters to the MCU, including one who is such a cornerstone of Marvel’s cosmic mythology that we’re still amazed it has taken this long to get him here. If you haven’t watched that trailer yet, you should fix that right now…...

As a comic book fan, you go into superhero movies with some expectations. When Nick Fury shows up to talk to Tony Stark about the Avengers Initiative, you know to be excited. And when Captain America is menaced by a longhaired assassin with a metal arm, you know what face lies beneath the mask.
That’s not to say that you know everything that’s going to happen! None of the movies or shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are entirely faithful to the source material. Probably the closest would be Captain America: Civil War, and that one is still way off from the comic.

That’s not to say that you know everything that’s going to happen! None of the movies or shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are entirely faithful to the source material. Probably the closest would be Captain America: Civil War, and that one is still way off from the comic.

Editor’s Note: On Nov. 14, 2005, Variety published the following interview with Mort Sahl. The revolutionary comedian, who died on Oct. 26, provided an unfiltered view on the entertainment industry, from Depression-era cinema and the Hollywood blacklist to how current films tackle race, politics and culture.
For half of the last century and on into the next one, Mort Sahl, 78, has been the comedic conscience of America. Since 1968, when he debuted at San Francisco’s legendary Hungry i nightclub, he’s been walking onstage in his trademark V-neck sweater, a newspaper tucked under his arm, serving notice to every pundit and politician from Eisenhower through Bush that there was nowhere to hide.
He was the original truth-teller, pioneering a new kind of stand-up — barbed bipartisan political humor — paving the way for everyone from Lenny Bruce to Woody Allen to Chris Rock.
In 1958, he co-hosted the Oscars. In 1960, Time magazine put him on the cover,...

Biographical pictures and historical dramas can often go the way of cinematic hagiography, particularly when the subjects are involved in the project’s development. In one of the most extreme examples of such a scenario, Albert Speer, aka “Hitler’s architect,” had dreams of making his life story, consisting of delusional self-mythologizing as a “good Nazi,” into a Hollywood feature backed by Paramount Pictures. As Nazi Germany’s Minister of Armaments and War Production and close friend to the Führer, Speer oversaw 12 million slave laborers, 2.5 million of whom died, yet he evaded a death sentence during the Nuremberg Trials and received just 20 years in prison. While his proposed film was never made, the new documentary Speer Goes to Hollywood explores the process and proves more successful as a look into denial of a horrific reality than the title’s conceit of a Nazi attempting to break into the studio system.

Firstly, what a stunning cover. Reminds me of the Frank Brunner stuff from the 1970’s. If that’s what Kaare Andrews was shooting for, it’s a bullseye. If not, a damn good unintended tribute. So, it’s another Marvel event, albeit a mini-one this time. Doctor Strange gets a 5 issue mini-series, with a few on-shots sprinkled in for good measure. This was an easy pick up for me. I love Doctor Strange as a character, and feel he’s not always given the respect due to him. I know a former top surgeon/sorcerer supreme is not the most relatable character in the world, but the circles Doctor Strange can, and does, move in make for some fantastic stories. Treat him as a normal superhero, then meh. Make use of all the possibilities his abilities and personality allow,...

I’ve written elsewhere that I’m not Nick Spencer’s biggest fan, and I’ve not been impressed with what he’s done with Peter Parker and the Spider-Man books he’s written. Yet here I am reviewing a Spider-Man book he’s written. Hear me out, though. I like Spider-Man as a character, whoever is writing and drawing him, so I’ll always give a writer or artist a second shot at impressing me. I also like Mark Bagley as a Spider-Man artist, so he helped draw me in. Finally, the premise was interesting. The hook is always designed to entice us in, and it worked with me. The Sinister Six is always a fun concept, and Spencer is not only running with that, but throwing in a whole lot more. There’s enough in all...

Warning: The following recap of the season one finale of Loki, “For All Time. Always” contains spoilers.
Instead of burning down the theatrical slate to feed the beast of streaming, one hopes that Disney bosses’ wake up to the fact that it’s series like Loki which are the pumping aorta of an Ott service.
The cliffhanger for Loki just keeps us hungering for more, and rather than keep us guessing, Marvel promptly revealed during the end-credits last night that there is indeed a season 2. It’s the serials which keep streamers alive, not the movies. Those who spent $60M WW on Black Widow aren’t going to buy it again. But it’s a nail-biting series like Loki which creates ‘must-see’ and therefore frosh sign-ups on Disney+.

Spoiler Alert: The following recap contains spoilers of Disney+/Marvel’s Loki Episode 4, “The Nexus Event.”
To date, Loki remains the quintessential Marvel/Disney+ series with the most riveting cliffhangers, and, man, were we ever peering over the edge.
There’s a ton to unpack here, so let’s start toward the end. Sooner than expected, Loki and Sylvie, prisoners of the Tva’s Ravonna (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), wound up before the lizard Timekeepers’ thrones, the apparent puppetmasters of this whole timeline cop authority, and policemen of those who veer from the timeline. A fight ensues with Loki and Sylvie squaring off between Ravonna and her troops. Sylvie succeeds in throwing a sword at one of the Timekeepers and cutting its head off. It rolls to her, and she learns that it is indeed a Wizard of Oz situation. In fact, it’s worse: the Timekeepers are androids.

This article contains Loki episode 4 spoilers.
Loki episode 4 is, well…we’re just gonna say it…the best episode of the series so far, by far. It rivals even the best chapters of WandaVision in its ambition, scope, and general batshittery. And a good chunk of that comes in the final moments, as well as what comes after.
That’s right, folks. Loki episode 4 engages in that proudest of MCU traditions: a post-credits scene.
Let’s try and make sense of all this, shall we?
Is Mobius Dead?
In what is perhaps the first truly heartbreaking moment on this show, Owen Wilson’s fan favorite Mobius M. Mobius gets himself deleted after confronting Judge Renslayer about the true nature of the Tva, its agents, and the Time-Keepers. Unlike the other Minutemen, notably C-20 and B-15, Mobius hasn’t had a Sylvie-assisted memory reactivation, but he’s savvy enough to realize...

Although I haven’t reviewed every issue, that would be a bit too much even for me, I have read every issue of the Heroes Reborn/ Return ‘event’. That’s 18 issues in total, and I can honestly say there was only 2 or 3 issues that I felt were reaching, and struggling to stretch out the material. It’s been a decent storyline, added to by a nice interpretation of the Squadron Supreme characters, and some fine Bronze Age throwback style comics from Jason Aaron, clearly having a whale of a time. All good things though must come to an end, and quite often the ending with these things is the hardest part, never quite living up to the promise of it all. Let’s see what the creative team have left in the locker.

“Who is Mephisto?” “When will Mephisto appear?” “Is this character/rabbit/bush actually Mephisto?” Those were just a few of the resounding (and annoying) fan theories that bounced around the internet for the duration that WandaVision aired, even as there was no indication that the Marvel supervillain would appear. If you were just sure that a big bad, perhaps by the name of Mephisto, was going to emerge before the end of WandaVision, you were probably quite disappointed. However, you can't be blamed for thinking that. We thought that, and it was all based on the fact that in the comics, the demon Mephisto is the big bad responsible for Wanda Maximoff's mysteriously powerful twins at the center of her family story. But WandaVision was never designed to be a story about a young woman being controlled by an evil villain, especially if that villain is a man. "That's not fun!" creator Jac Schaeffer tells E! News. "Plus, then we'd have to spend time with that guy. Who needs...

“WandaVision” birthed enough fan theories to fill out the multiverse, with fans filling up Reddit threads with speculation that the Fantastic Four or the X-Men would make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts.

WandaVision is the first of the Disney+ Marvel shows to air, and over the course of its run, it's turned out to be one of the most satisfying entries, movie or TV show, in the overall Marvel universe. We can talk about the incredible detail of the sitcom parodies, we can (and we should!) talk about the ridiculous versatility and talent of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, but WandaVision's biggest strength is also what makes it unusual for a Marvel property. Instead of focusing heavily on Easter eggs and hints at what's to come, the show cares most about its small, central cast of characters and developing them in a nuanced way.
At its heart, WandaVision isn't a superhero story in the traditional sense; it's a character drama about the nuances of grief. Its protagonist, Wanda, can't be put into a neat box: she is and isn't a hero...

Agatha Harkness’ rabbit, Señor Scratchy, inspired several fan theories from “WandaVision” fans over the series’ nine episodes. Was the rabbit secretly the demon villain Mephisto? Or perhaps it was Agatha’s much-discussed husband Ralph? Are Ralph and Mephisto one and the same? None of these questions turned out to be factors in the series, but it turns out fans were right to think Señor Scratchy was more than just a typical rabbit.
In an interview with Kevin Smith (via /Film), “WandaVision” director Matt Shakman reveals a “Goonies”-inspired action scene was shot for the finale revealing Señor Scratchy’s transformation into a demon. The scene was cut because of incomplete VFX and because it took away from the main storylines in the finale.

After eight near-perfect episodes, the story of WandaVision has concluded with a finale installment that sticks the landing on all fronts, including multiple cinematic battles, several heartfelt goodbyes, and a long-overdue moment of agency for a heroine who has so often been denied a choice in her own future.

The final episode of WandaVision is here, and it’s 45 minutes of big screen Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster chaos magic action…but on the small screen. And while pound for pound it’s a little lighter on Marvel Comics and MCU Easter eggs than what we’ve seen in previous weeks, there’s still Plenty to dig in to and fun things you might have missed.
In particular, this episode sets up at least two upcoming big screen adventures with both Captain Marvel 2 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But there’s elements from WandaVision that will also resonate in future MCU TV series on Disney+ as well.
Let’s get to work…and if you spot anything we missed, let us know in the comments!

When Evan Peters first popped up in episode five of WandaVision as Wanda's late brother Pietro, there were a lot of fan theories about his true identity. While some assumed that the MCU was finally crossing over to the X-Men universe - since Peters played Pietro in the X-Men movies - or that his character would turn out to be Marvel comics villain Mephisto, all of those theories ended up being dead wrong. Turns out, he was simply just another regular resident of Westview.
In the season finale, Monica is held captive by fake Pietro as an epic showdown between Wanda, Vision, White Vision, and Agatha Harkness goes on outside. While fake Pietro is able to push Monica back with one simple touch, she later learns that he doesn't actually have any magical abilities. Instead, he is being controlled by Agatha Harkness with a beaded necklace.

WandaVision has concluded with a terrific final episode, and with it, Marvel’s first foray into episodic television came to an end with startling success – taking a quiet story about a woman’s grief and loneliness, one of the most emotionally evocative pieces of MCU storytelling to date, and using it as a thread in the greater MCU tapestry. And that tapestry is unequivocally bigger now that the show is ended. Here are some of the pieces of groundwork WandaVision laid for the future of the MCU.
The Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange 2

This article contains spoilers for the WandaVision finale.
Marvel told us pretty early on that its Scarlet Witch spinoff series WandaVision would set up the events of Doctor Strange 2, but during the final episode some fans were a little disappointed by the lack of a Benedict Cumberbatch appearance that might have explained just how closely these two projects might be connected.
However, there was quite a big Doctor Strange 2 connection for movie geeks who were paying close enough attention during WandaVision’s final post credits scene – it was just a little more subtle than most people were expecting.

Warning: The following recap of WandaVision, Episode 9 “The Series Finale” contains some major spoilers:

In regards to how the finale directed by Matt Shakman and written by Jac Schaeffer extends to those big pics, read on. However, to clear up a few big things that some were expecting that did not occur: Big bad villain Mephisto never revealed himself, and as of this moment, Agnes...

With the web being flooded with adoration for Wandavision and strong speculation about past Spider-Man stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as the infamous webslinger alongside Tom Holland in Spiderman: No Way Home, the MCU seems set to embrace the magic, wonder and many possibilities of the multiverse.
This tantalising concept is not so new to theoretical astrophysics, but is being more widely embraced by cinema superhero franchises, what with Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck set to re-don their capes to play Batman in DC’s upcoming The Flash movie and Brandon Routh having already reprised his role as Superman in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

You could say it all started with one Paul William Bettany.
Last month, the star of Marvel’s WandaVision got fans’ attention when he started teasing a new character arriving in the MCU spinoff series that had miraculously survived online leaks, which in turn meant that Evan Peters’ “Pietro” Maximoff definitely wasn’t who he was referring to.
“There is one character that has not been revealed,” Bettany told Esquire. “And it is very exciting. It is an actor I’ve longed to work with all of my life. We have some amazing scenes together and I think the chemistry between us is extraordinary and fireworks on set.”
