I was hoping this wouldn't happen.
Many fans predicted that Madison would call off the wedding, but I didn't think This Is Us would tease an epic ceremony just for it to be aborted.
But that's exactly what happened on This Is Us Season 5 Episode 16, and then it was followed up by the most bizarre flash-forward yet.
The whole hour seemed like it was dedicated to conversations that should have happened a long time before they did.
A couple of hours before the ceremony wasn't the time for Tess to declare she hated her dress or Rebecca to insist on a heart-to-heart with Randall about the past. And it Definitely wasn't an appropriate time for Madison to question Kevin's love for her and call the whole thing off!
Randall: Last week you were all Jerry McGuire. You good now?
Kevin: I know my entire romantic life has been an exercise in self-destruction,...

The tears were flowing, and so were the apologies.
All of the relationships are hitting some rough spots or are already in them on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way Season 2 Episode 10. And for most of the couples, it feels as though they're spinning in place.
Even the new couples have fallen into a pattern of rinse, wash, and repeat.
Show Me the Money!
Devan and Jihoon are in an endless cycle until one or both of them break it. It wasn't looking pretty when Deavan threatened to leave for the gazillionth time, and an aggravated Jihoon pretty much told her to kick rocks.
The two of them had another conversation, and it seems they manage those better without that translator device from hell. He apologized for screwing up, and he shared with her yet again that he does have money.

To quote Jerry McGuire, we live in a cynical, cynical world.
It's that never-ceasing cynicism that can lead to a yearning for something bright, a little upbeat.
Amazon's anthology series, Modern Love, based on the New York Time's column of the same name (that turns 15 this month), reminds us that no matter how rueful things look, there is love in the air. You just have to be open to it.
Yes, it's a drippy sentiment oozing with sugar, but Modern Love isn't a sappy series.
Instead, the heartfelt essays adapted from page to screen showcase what love can be when you open yourself to the possibilities. It's sweet without being cloyingly so.
What to Watch Next Week: Arrow, The Purge, Treadstone, Modern Love & More!
And if all this talk of romantic love is getting you down already, buck up! Modern Love isn't about any one specific type of love,...

Bruce Springsteen’s music has always been cinematic, which is one reason why so many of his songs strike a chord at the movies.
Friday is the premiere of the film, “Blinded By The Light,” which tells the story of a British-Pakistani teenager and his journey after discovering the Boss’ music. Based on the book, “Greetings From Bury Park,” by Sarfraz Manzoor, the film makes excellent use of Springsteen classics like “Jungleland” and “The Promised Land.”
But no matter where they’re used, Springsteen’s songs enliven film scenes. And the man himself does as much in “High Fidelity” — a fantasy sequence from the 2000 film in which he gives advice to John Cusack’s character as he strums his Fender and tells him to “move on down the road.”
Which is what we’re going to do, after serving up these six great examples of Springsteen music used well in films.

50 Years ago Judy Bloom wrote the groundbreaking book Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. Over the years Hollywood has come knocking at her door trying to get the rights to adapt the book into a feature film, but she has always turned them down… until now.
The author has finally said yes and has granted the right to producer James L. Brooks, who has developed films such as Big, Say Anything, War of the Roses, Jerry McGuire, As Good as it Gets, The Edge of Seventeen, and The Simpsons.
It was also announced that Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen) will write and direct the adaptation of Bloom’s book. It’s said that Brooks and Craig are “giddy about how they find themselves in the middle of this opportunity.”

Fans of Batman are going to get an extra special treat this weekend as Will Arnett’s incarnation of the Caped Crusader introduced in 2014’s The Lego Movie gets his very own solo adventure in The Lego Batman Movie, opening Friday.
The animated film is directed by Chris McKay, who was animation director on The Lego Movie and who cut his teeth as a director and producer of Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken before joining Phil Lord and Chris Miller to create a new animated Lego universe.
In the new movie, Batman has to deal with the fact that his desire to be a loner has left him rather lonely (not that he’ll admit it) and the introduction of a young orphan named Dick Grayson (voiced by Michael Cera) and the new Commissioner, Barbara Gordon (Rosario Scott), gives him and Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) a chance to form a family...

Going against Randy Meeks’ rules for surviving a horror film, the killer in Cherry Falls (2000) seems to only target virgins. Ahead of its March 29th Blu-ray release from Scream Factory, Cherry Falls is teased in high-definition clips and a trailer.
From Shout! Factory: “A serial killer is stalking the peaceful town of Cherry Falls. At first, it seems that he is just targeting teenagers, but after the third killing it becomes clear that all the victims have been virgins. When the town’s students hear about this, they realize that there is only one way to protect themselves and begin planning a “Pop Your Cherry” party where they will all lose their virginities together. Meanwhile, Jodi (Brittany Murphy, Clueless, Sin City), the virtuous daughter of the town’s sheriff (Michael Biehn, Aliens, Grindhouse), decides to take matters into her own hands and trap the killer herself.

Superman's suit even got a major overhaul seeing the end of the red underwear on the out side of his pants. Now another major shakeup is coming thanks to new series writer Scott Lobdell. Clark Kent is leaving The Daily Planet. According to USA Today, the change comes from mounting stress as Clark is dealing with Lois' new boyfriend, pressure from Perry White, and even more pressure from his boss Morgan Edge. All these event lead to what is being described as a Jerry McGuire moment where Clark has had enough and quits in front of the entire staff. "This is really what happens when a 27-year-old guy is behind a desk and he has to take instruction from a larger conglomerate with concerns...

Exclusive: With Homeland, based on an Israeli series, enjoying critical and commercial success, series executive producer Howard Gordon is taking on adapting another international format. Gordon and fellow Homeland executive producer Alex Cary have teamed for Ritter, a character-driven legal drama inspired by the 2009 Icelandic series Réttur. The project has landed at NBC with significant penalty. Written by Cary, Ritter, described as “Jerry McGuire in a law firm,” centers on a seasoned lawyer with an unorthodox approach who demonstrates his personal contempt for the law by using it as a blunt instrument. Gordon’s pod, Teakwood Lane, is producing with 20th Century Fox TV, where both Gordon and Cary are under deals. The two will executive produce with Teakwood Lane’s head of TV Hugh Fitzpatrick, as well as Rob Golenberg and Alon Aranya of Scripted World. This marks Teakwood Lane’s second sale at NBC this season, along with...

As someone who has tended bar or many years, Cocktail is a staple. Academy Award® nominee Tom Cruise (Oscar® Nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Jerry McGuire in 1997) stars as Brian Flanagan, one of Cruise.s most memorable films from earlier in his career. Cocktail is fun, witty, and it combines two of my favorite things…
Movies and Alcohol!
After returning from the army, New York bartender Brian Flanagan (Tom Cruise) learns the secrets of the trade from his new boss, Doug Coughlin (Bryan Brown), before heading to Jamaica to work at a local resort TIki Bar. While in Jamaica, Flanagan falls in love with an American tourist (Elisabeth Shue).

Wow. Just wow. Four major releases debuted this weekend and every single one of them opened with superb numbers. On one hand, that means that every respective demographic was ably served this weekend. On the other hand, one can only wonder how much cash was sacrificed by opening these four movies on the same weekend. Anyway, the top film of the weekend was the Rachel McAdams/Channing Tatum romantic drama The Vow. The $30 million Screen Gems drama, which by the way is Not based on a Nicholas Sparks novel (it's a true story), debuted with an eye-popping $41 million, a record for the studio. That's well-over $10 million more than the $30.4 million debut of Dear John, which was the previous record-holder for an opening weekend for a pure romantic drama. The film played 55 percent under-25 years old and 72 percent female. Obviously everything clicked on the marketing for this one, and Channing Tatum...

Anthony Hopkins is in final negotiations to take on the lead role in a new serial killer thriller being set up at New Line Cinema called Solace. It's always got to be nice when you land an Oscar winner in one of your films. It sure doesn't hurt the movie you're making... unless your Cuba Gooding Jr., I'm not sure why his career went the way it did after he won that Oscar for Jerry McGuire. Anyway, that's another rant for another day.
According to the trades Hopkins will play a character named John Clancy, a former doctor with psychic abilities who works for the FBI and is drawn into a unique serial killer case that pits him against a formidable foe. So Hopkins will be on the other side of the fence in this new serial killer film, unless there's some kind of twist at the end where he...

Who was "Reckless" in tonight's Combat Hospital? The answers were a little surprising.
Isn't that right, Bobby Trang? The good doctor always came across as more of a by-the-book guy, but perhaps those tattoos should have been a sign of the reckless streak that lies beneath.
Bobby was having sex in the back of a truck with Susie, or at least he would have if work hadn't interrupted. The risk here was that fraternization is seriously frowned upon.
The amusing part was that Bobby quickly became concerned that Susie was looking for a serious relationship. Dude, I don't see the girl jumping from sex in the back of a truck to an engagement ring. Calm down.
So, Ariel was married to Graham before she left him for another woman? That's got to hurt the ego. Graham definitely didn't seem angry and he's obviously still very much in love with his ex.

The trailers are starting to make the rounds for the digested, regurgitated and over-incubated adaptation of Michael Lewis' best-selling baseball novel, Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. Brad Pitt pushed for a film version of the novel, which highlights the change in direction of the Oakland Athletics under General Manager Billy Beane. The San Francisco Bay Area franchise was one of the highest spending clubs in the early parts of the 90s, but after owner Walter Haas died in 1995, the new ownership group slashed payroll and cut operating costs (apparently this sort of behavior isn't limited to the New York Knights or Charlie Sheen's Cleveland Indians).
Beane's strategies expanded upon statistical analysis with objective studies and regressions analysis and all sorts of mathematical approaches, embracing the field of "Sabermetrics". By developing a different idea about how baseball games were won, and a different idea about which...

The movie world is chock full of classic trilogies: Sergio Leone’s 'Man With No Name' (or 'Dollars') (1964 - 1966), Francis Ford Coppola’s Godfather (1972 - 1990 -- the first two films of which were so outstanding that they made up for the shortcomings of the lacklustre third instalment), Robert Zemeckis’s Back to the Future (1985 - 1990), and Pixar’s Toy Story (1995 - 2010) trilogy are but four examples.
The crucial thing that makes them classic trilogies, however, and this may be an obvious point but one that seems to have been overlooked time and again by the powers that be in Hollywood, is that they all contain three films. No more, no less.
As a result, they are frozen for all eternity with their classic status intact, and due to a number of factors they will stay that way - namely the fact that Eastwood is all but retired from the acting side of the camera,...

hollywoodnews.com: For the first time two 3D movies opened against each other on the same weekend grabbing a combined total of an estimated $60 million at the box office just one week after the debut of another 3D family epic, The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader which held pretty well from a soft opening, and only one week before yet another 3Der, Jack Black’s Gulliver’s Travels. Both of those movies plus both of this week’s flicks, Tron: Legacy and Yogi Bear are blasts from the past rebooted with new technological advances to make their dormant characters hot again. The future is here, movie-wise, and the studios are clearly stating their aim with this kind of holiday programming.

Subject: Renée Kathleen Zellweger, 41-year old American actress
Date of Assessment: October 1, 2010
Positive Buzzwords: Versatile, talent, nonthreatening beauty
Negative Buzzwords: Overrated, vanity, recluse
The Case: Today's surveillance involves the Magically Disappearing Career of Renée Zellweger. Not too terribly many years ago, this subject was an imminently employable actress who possessed an everyday, realistic good looks. Of course, that was back when Zellweger began her acting career with low budget productions (Love and a .45, The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre) in her home state of Texas. After moving to Hollywood, Zellweger parlayed her unusual physical appeal by banging Rex Manning in Empire Records. Then, she had us at "hello" in Jerry Maguire and, subsequently, showcased some refreshing versatility in A Price Above Rubies. As to that last movie, I recall watching a "Today Show" interview, which posed the question of why a starlet would bother with a "small" film...

The fantastic writer and title character in Kissing Jessica Stein, Jennifer Westfeldt (who has been in a relationship with Jon Hamm for nine years) has written and will star in Life of O'Reilly, according to the Hollywood Cog. The movie, produced by De Line productions, is being described as Jerry McGuire meets Funny People. It's about a successful television actor who verbally bashes his number one rated show at an Emmy after-party. He must overcome a lot to get his career back on line, but considers if that's the life he still wants to lead.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Jon Hamm cast in the lead role.
R-Squared and Bradley Cooper are now attached to a buddy cop movie set in San Francisco that's meant to be in the vein of Lethal Weapon. It's written by Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air) and the story "follows two friends, who are also San Francisco cops,...

"You just did a very bad thing," said Bill Gates, reacting to a presentation of Stan Slap's suggestions. In this excerpt from his upcoming book, "Bury My Heart at Conference Room B," consultant Stan Slap relates how Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer, and a room full of Microsoft execs loved and loathed the concept of leading with your values.
Check the Oxford Dictionary of the English Language under "aggressive" and you'll find Orlando Ayala's picture. The head of worldwide sales for Microsoft is a slim, good-looking Colombian who sports a casual Caesar haircut--the haircut being the only casual thing about him. He vibrates with coiled intensity; you sense he's friendly unless he senses you're edible. Now, the guy famous for donning combat gear to whip his sales teams into a feral frenzy has pulled his top managers together for two days of Bury My Heart at Conference Room B and asked that I facilitate it personally.

HollywoodNews.com: I can only wonder what kind of film James Mangold’s “Knight and Day” would have been had it just been another action vehicle for a Tom Cruise (pre-2005) who was not in the midst of a PR-mandated comeback. Despite the fact that Cruise’s pictures have done just fine since his 2005 couch-jumping, Scientology-hyping PR-meltdown, there is a perception that Cruise has lost his luster as a genuine movie star. So along comes “Knight and Day,” a variation on the ‘wronged-man on the run with quasi-kidnapped female’ story, which theoretically casts Tom Cruise as a borderline-satirical version on the Cruise persona (insanely-driven action hero with a touch with the ladies). As a satire on the stereotypical Tom Cruise action picture, it has its moments and its charm. But the film lacks the courage of its convictions, as well as the ability to take the story...

Bradley Cooper and Renee Zellweger are not engaged, People.com reported on June 13. Despite rumors to the contrary, the ‘A-Team’ actor has not proposed to Zellweger, their reps told the magazine. The rumors began swirling after Zellweger was allegedly spotted shopping for wedding dresses. The couple was also seen spending time with her parents. However, their reps pointed to the fact that the two have previously spent time with each others parents and families before, as Zellweger spent time with the Coopers in Los Angeles in December. The ‘Jerry McGuire’ star was seen hopping with Cooper’s mother for last minute Christmas gifts in December. She was also spotted walking a dog with [...]...

Sometimes good shows actually get the treatment they deserve instead of being unceremoniously dumped from their network. Case in point is TNT’s excellent cop drama Southland which began life on NBC but after only a limited run, wan’t asked to continue on the network.
