The first season launched on Sky Atlantic in the UK and Amazon in the U.S. last year.

Seeking refuge from her own parents, Anna is taken in by the God-fearing Nickel family, headed up by Pastor Johan, played by John Lynch, his wife Sarah, played by Anamaria Marinca, and daughter Rosa, played by Jenessa Grant, and hidden with the Ammonites – a religious community close to Little Big Bear.

Hysteria, Season 1, Episode 1: “Pilot”
Written by Shaun Cassidy
Directed by Otto Bathurst
Released August 28, 2014 by Amazon
A veteran of television writing, and known mostly for having created the ABC science fiction drama Invasion, Shaun Cassidy’s next foray to the small screen comes courtesy of Amazon. Titled Hysteria, the series follows a medical investigator in Austin as she attempts to understand the cause behind a series of seizures and spasmic movements affecting a group of largely unrelated individuals. With Mena Suvari in the lead role, Amazon and the creators have released the pilot online in an attempt to get a series greenlight. Unfortunately, poor characterisation and a simplistic mystery at its core dooms this pilot by seemingly promising a dull show.
One of the key problems with this pilot, and potentially with the series as a whole, is that the central...

Big news today: We’re excited to announce Amazon Studios’ third pilot season, beginning August 28th and featuring three half hour comedies The Cosmopolitans, Really and Red Oaks, and two hour-long dramatic thrillers Hand of God and Hysteria. For one month, it will be up to you to watch, rate and comment – ultimately helping us decide which of them get the greenlight.
“There is something for everyone in this season,” says Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios. The glamorous life of modern day expats in Paris. The hijinks of a summer job at a country club in 1980s New Jersey. The visions of a vigilante judge who appears to be channeling God. The complexities of marriage and friendship among a circle of friends in suburban Chicago. And the mysteries behind a psycho-physiological illness spreading through a small town in Texas.
You can help choose which of these stories should get “picked up” to become shows.

Spoiler alert: Stop reading if you don’t want to know who was killed on ‘Reign!’

‘Reign’: XXX Dies On Midseason Finale
That’s right, the unfortunate victim on Reign‘s chopping block turned out to be none other than Aylee (Jenessa Grant), easily the most adorable lady in waiting of all time.
Considering the episode was titled “Fated,” we figured something monumental would go down, but this seemed beyond the realm of possibilities. It gave us a real ‘no one is safe’ kind of feeling, and that’s not one we like to have.

Historical dramas have had mixed success on television. Will CW viewers find something to like in the Reign TV series or will it be cancelled after one low-rated season? We shall see.
Set in the 16th century, Reign follows the journey of a young Scottish queen who is betrothed to marry a handsome prince. He and his mother have other ideas. The cast includes Adelaide Kane, Toby Regbo, Torrance Coombs, Megan Follows, Alan Van Sprang, Celina Sinden, Caitlin Stasey, Anna Popplewell, and Jenessa Grant.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- typically the following morning, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest.

Being the keeper of a queen’s secrets is a precarious position. It demands a selflessness that most ladies-in-waiting are not accustomed. But for Aylee (Jenessa Grant), being the queen’s confidante is a privilege and gives her life purpose beyond waiting to be married off as a political pawn. In a press interview from the set, star Jenessa Grant talked about the challenges of such a prestigious position and how Aylee struggles to have an identity of her own beyond her royal duties.
What can you share about the relationship between Mary (Adelaide Kane) and your character Aylee?
Jenessa: Aylee is basically Mary’s confidante. She’s the one that Mary can trust the most, like when Mary’s kind of freaking out. She can go to Aylee and she’ll be there. Mary has to show a bit of a stronger front to the other girls. But you...

When it comes to games of thrones, anyone's expendable, even family.
After keeping her cousin, Mary, Queen of Scots, in custody for more than 18 years, Britain's Queen Elizabeth I became convinced Mary was plotting against her and lopped off the 44-year-old's head in 1587.
Mary's wasn't the longest of lives, but it was an eventful one, and the excitement started young.
On Thursday, Oct. 17, The CW premieres "Reign," a fanciful look at the teenage Mary (Adelaide Kane) and her rocky road to power.
If you're expecting a dreary docudrama or even something as somewhat historically accurate as "The Tudors," you may be disappointed. "Reign" takes its cue from movies such as "First Knight" and the 2006 version of "Marie Antoinette" in playing fast and loose with costuming and language and throwing modern music in the soundtrack.
Executive producers are Laurie McCarthy ("Ghost Whisperer") and Frank Siracusa ("Beauty and the Beast").

"Reign" is not a historically accurate portrayal of Mary, Queen of Scots' teen years. But that shouldn't matter -- the CW drama is historical fiction and succeeds admirably in giving viewers a tasted of 16th century life in the most fun way it can.
You don't want to miss this one.
A brief history of "Reign"
Set in the mid-16th century, "Reign" focuses on the Scottish Queen Mary (Adelaide Kane) during her teen years at the French court. A ruler since she was only 6 days old, Mary is expected to marry the heir to the French monarchy, Francis (Toby Regbo). Although the show (fortunately) only skirts around the issue, the basis for all of this is both standard dynastic alliances and a desire to uphold Catholicism in the face of expansionist and Protestant policies in England.
Mary is expected to save herself for Francis, of course, but there are...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fifth and final one announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on The CW.
After targeting teen girls for so long, The CW has widened their demographic focus and in the process have improved their fortunes with three of their five new shows from last year returning. One in particular, "Arrow," has been a big hit for them. As a result this year's line-up sticks heavily with genre fare - sci-fi, supernatural, and even a period piece.
The network's troubled "Nikita" has scored a six episode third season order to wrap up its story lines, no word on when those episodes will air just yet. In fact, specific premiere dates for all their shows have yet to be set.

Starting this fall, it's will be Reign-ing on CW viewers every Thursday night.
With high hopes for this new drama, the network has slotted it after The Vampire Diaries, hoping fans of attractive blood suckers will stick around to learn the tale of Mary Stuart, who the world would come to know as Mary, Queen of Scots.
The official synopsis teases Reign as a series that focuses on "politics, religion and secret agendas of the heart," as Adelaide Kane's Mary gets herself caught up in a "royal" love triangle. Those are the fanciest, most dangerous kinds of love triangles!
Reign also stars Toby Regbo, Torrance Coombs, Megan Follows, Alan Van Sprang, Celina Sinden, Caitlin Stasey, Anna Popplewell and Jenessa Grant.
Look for a trailer later today and click through images from the premiere now.
Also new to The CW this fall? The Tomorrow People and The Originals.
Update: We've added the first Reign trailer!

The CW is racking up with more dramas for the Fall season, and so are showrunners Julie Plec and Greg Berlanti. As if the two aren't busy another with The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Arrow already, the duo's The Tomorrow People has now been added to the list. Three other dramas that The CW have ordered also include Reign, The 100, and Star-Crossed, which was formerly Oxygen--a name we wish they stuck with.
With renewals and cancellations coming in heavy Thursday afternoon, it seems as though The CW may be coming out as one of the strongest compared to other networks.
Check out some more details on the four newest shows to hit your lineup next season:
Tomorrow People

And upfronts madness continues! The CW has announced official pickups for four of its new pilots, joining "Vampire Diaries" spin-off "The Originals" on its schedule. The network, which kept many of its returning series on this year, was expected to pick up a total of five.
First up, they picked up "The Tomorrow People," from fan favorite executive producers Julie Plec ("The Vampire Diaries") and Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "Brothers and Sisters"). Peyton List, Luke Mitchell, and Aaron Yu also star.
