Chord Overstreet is looking quite different these days compared to his babyface era back when he was on Glee. The pop singer made waves during his run on the musical drama where he played character Sam Evans for nearly 100 episodes over the span of five years. Now, sporting some facial hair and a look that screams Nashville, Overstreet unveils the music video to his first single, “Homeland.”
Solo, non-Glee related material has been planned for quite a while, but it wasn’t until “Homeland” that we got our first proper taste. A pop-centric track entitled “Beautiful Girl” hit the Internet all the way back in 2012, and whatever music Overstreet was working on then clearly never transferred over to what he’s doing now. “Homeland” is a pop-rock ballad with some light country influence, and it’s a promising look into what an album might sound like.

If Ryan Follese looks or sounds familiar, it’s because he was in a band that were, at one point, one of the biggest in the country. Hot Chelle Rae had a brief run of invincibility from 2011 to 2012, where their singles “Tonight Tonight” and “I Like It Like That” were everywhere and went platinum. Even though that record had a couple more bops on it, no single caught on quite like its predecessors, and Hot Chelle Rae hasn’t had an official release since. However, that doesn’t mean music from the members stops – Ryan Follese has since launched a solo career and just debuted the music video for his new single, “Float Your Boat.”
“Float Your Boat” comes off Follese’s debut Ep, which has a bit of a different sound than he was used to playing with his previous band. His Ep goes in the direction of your standard country pop,...

Breakthrough hip-hop artists Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are the overwhelming favorites to win New Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards according to our predictors. So, it’s over. And I am less happy than I thought I would be about the winner.
It was a week of reunions, expectations, anxiety and (for many) disappointment.
Even though it seems moot, they go through the motions of the usual episode formula — starting with a Homework Assignment. They get “Can’t Stop the Beat” from Hairspray. Robert then tells them he has some talented back-up singers to help out. Ali is shocked to see all of the vanquished contestants return because apparently she didn’t watch last year — or any reality show ever. Taryn doesn’t return, presumably because of the family troubles that caused her to quit. Michael and Blake embrace like it hasn’t been five minutes since last they saw each other.

After 11 weeks of awkward homework assignments, ridiculous music videos, and confusing eliminations, we’ve come to the finale, and the theme is, in true Glee Project fashion, yet another made-up word. Coming into the final episode, I thought Aylin was going to win because of her backstory, and that Ali was probably the most deserving, but I kind of wanted Blake to win because, well, he’s Blake. Let’s see how it all turned out.
Homework Assignment: “You Can’t Stop The Beat” from Hairspray
For the very last homework assignment, all the eliminated contestants came back (except for, you know, that one girl who quit) to serve as the trio’s backup singers. It was nice to see everyone reunited. Charlie, of course, ran straight for Aylin, and Michael and Blake shared a bro hug. Even though Ali was the clear standout during the performance, guest mentor Chris Colfer...

The three remaining contenders on The Glee Project--Aylin, Ali, and Blake--have a tough week ahead of them! And at the end of it, one of them will earn a seven-episode guest-starring role on Glee Season 4.
Let's find out who the winner is now...
This week's theme is "Glee-ality." Essentially, which of these three is the most Glee-like. Robert gives them their Homework Assignment--"You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray--and then tells them he's arranged for some special back-up singers to come in and help them. Those special back-up singers? All of their Season 2 castmates!
Aylin's reunited with Charlie and she's really not concerned about anyone else being back. Blake and Ali share the love with everyone and then Ali takes charge on the choreography because Aylin and Blake don't seem to know what to do.

Say what you want about The Glee Project, but it’s one of the few reality series on television that doesn’t add an extra hour or two of padding to its season finale. So tonight, instead of a bloated two- or three-hour endurance test to get us to an announcement that took all of 10 seconds, we got an action-packed hour that shone a spotlight on the respective strengths and weaknesses of the Season 2 Top 3: Aylin, Ali, and Blake.
What we didn’t get, alas, was relief from the “boys rule” doctrine that’s dominated music-centric reality competition series for half a decade now.

Taylor Swift seems so nice in person (and is), but as she’s shown over the course of her short, but extraordinarily successful, career, if you date her and cross her (or she perceives you do), she will come after you in song. Has there been any pop artist who has chronicled her love life so directly since Alanis Morissette on “Jagged Little Pill?” Certainly not one whose albums consistently have such a high body count. On “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” a pop stomp that blends Hot Chelle Rae crossed with Pink and Katy Perry, the boy in question...

Holmdel, New Jersey — Not even rain showers could scare away the Lovatics who crowded the Pnc Bank Arts Center to catch the latest stop on Demi Lovato's summer tour Friday night. The star, who's fitting in the trek between her judging duties on the "X Factor," brought out some of New Jersey's most devoted Demi fans. The star swaggered out to a killer guitar riff before busting out the night's first song, "All Night Long." She shimmied all night in red shorts, a black-and-white blazer and a sheer top, never once stumbling in her sky-high platforms.
She displayed her rock-star bravado when she teased and flirted with her band during tracks that were hardly audible over all the screams.

They say the best place to start is at the beginning. For Keenan Cahill, it was August 28, 2010. That was the day he launched his first famous YouTube video, lip-syncing to Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream." The video went viral and was viewed by millions almost instantly. It was even seen by Perry herself. What came next was a flurry of attention and more videos. A lot more. There's over 170 in all and they include appearances with guest artists like the Glee Live cast, Lmfao, 50 Cent, Maroon 5, Flo-Rida, Drake Bell, Sean Kingston, Big Time Rush, Hot Chelle Rae, Ariana Grande, Jason Derulo, Julianne Hough, and more. He even joined Katy Perry backstage during her California Dreams tour where the duo performed "Teenage Dream" together in a video. His YouTube channel has close to 600,000 subscribers and has received an astounding 409,000,000+ views. He is currently the 27th highest subscribed music artist on YouTube.

Gil Kaufman and James Montgomery face off on what 'Songs From This Decade' the top seven should tackle.

For weeks, it's felt like we've been screaming into the void. We keep begging "American Idol" to get with the program and borrow a page from rivals like "The Voice" and "X Factor" by having the finalists sing songs that were released in the decades since Randy Jackson played bass for Carlos Santana.
It's a novel concept, we know. Seriously, enough with the Billy Joel and Michael Jackson theme nights! Not another collection of Elton John, disco or Frank Sinatra songs, please! Give us something contemporary, dudes — or at least something that may give our aunt in Virginia pause.
Finally, "Idol" producers seem to have heard our pleas and given the top seven a shot at sounding halfway relevant this week with "Songs From This Decade" night.

Sources tell the magazine Roberts didn't didn't seem to think very highly the "Glee" star, belittling him for months. "She acts like he's really dumb," says a source who added she even makes fun of him to his face.
According to the magazine, Roberts had been dropping less-than-subtle hints that she wasn't interested in the pouty-lipped actor, telling him he didn't need to spend New Year's Eve with her and outright ignored him at public events. Sources claim Emma hasn't been playing nice and even left Chord waiting outside at the CAA Golden Globes after-party, ignoring his text messages to come get him at the door.

Much like the other anxiety-causing questions that hang heavy over your head on New Year’s Eve (“When should I leave this party?” “What will my resolution be?” “Who should I kiss at midnight?” “Why did I kiss that person at midnight?!”) “Which televised New Year’s Eve bash should I watch?” looms just as tauntingly over the holiday. Unfortunately the networks aren’t going to make your decision much easier this year, as there’s a plethora of specials to tune into to watch that blasted ball drop.

"The Walking Dead" Marathon (11 a.m. to 12 midnight Est on AMC)
If you've missed out on the critically-acclaimed zombie drama or are just trying to avoid all of the other soulless, dead-eyed beings that congregate on New Year's Eve, it's your lucky night: AMC is re-airing "The Walking Dead" in its entirety, from the premiere episode to the recently-aired midseason finale. It's a gory way to celebrate 2012, but it's probably less messy than going out for the night.
"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012" (8 p.m. to 2:13 a.m. Est on ABC)
Those intro tradition can keep it locked on the alphabet network for nearly 5.5 hours of bi-coastal New Year's festivities, presided over by the eponymous Dick Clark and the ever-present Ryan Seacrest. Things kick off at 8 p.m. with "New Year's Rockin' Eve: The 40th Anniversary Party," hosted by Jenny McCarthy in Times Square and Fergie in Los Angeles.

New York -- Forty years ago, Dick Clark's New Year's Eve special was created to give young people an alternative to a seasonal institution, bandleader Guy Lombardo.
Now Clark's annual show is the institution.
"New Year's Rockin' Eve," with Clark and Ryan Seacrest, pays tribute to its own history during a sprawling, nearly six-hour program Saturday night. The celebration takes up all of prime time on ABC, breaks for a half-hour of local news, then comes back on the air for two and a quarter hours that includes the ball dropping in New York City's Times Square to mark the beginning of 2012.
"I'm looking forward to it being 2:15 (a.m. on Sunday)," said Larry Klein, who has been producing the show since 1977.
Clark's special shows no sign of slippage, after collecting its biggest audience in five years last year. The 18.8 million people who were watching ABC during the...

Don't panic, but you only have a few days left to find the perfect holiday gift. Yes, it can be daunting, and yes, it can drive you crazy, but we at MTV News are here to help. But instead of telling you what to buy this season, we asked some of your favorite stars at this year's annual Z100 Jingle Ball concert in New York to tell us what not to put on your holiday gift list.
"The worst gift you could give somebody is a gift that you got from them," Princeton from Mindless Behavior told MTV News.
Regifting is also a big no-no for Hot Chelle Rae's Nash Overstreet, who said, "[The worst gift] is a gift that you got that you didn't want, so you gave it to them.

Gleeks, it beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Chord Overstreet's first solo single, "Beautiful Girl," has been leaked. After leaving "Glee" last summer, Overstreet went straight to the studio to start working on his acoustic pop debut album, which fans can expect sometime in 2012.
"I got a lot of great stuff done, and I'm really excited about how the finished album is going to sound," Overstreet told AOL TV. "I think I'll be ready to release an album around next year."
Overstreet, who is currently unsigned, comes from a pretty talented family. His father is country singer-songwriter Paul Overstreet, and his older brother, Nash Overstreet, is currently the lead guitarist in pop-rock band Hot Chelle Rae.
Listen to Overstreet's leaked single, "Beautiful Girl," below. Perhaps he's sending a message to girlfriend Emma Roberts. The "Glee" star recently opened up to Ryan Seacrest, admitting that things between him and Emma are great.

Today, adorable cardigan sweater enthusiast Taylor Swift turns 22! Happy birthday, Taylor. We'd buy you a drink if, you know, you were into that sort of thing.
Here on the MTV Newsroom blog, we're kind of obsessed with Taylor Swift. Not in a weird way or anything! It's more of a "we think it's kind of funny that this extraordinarily successful and talented 22-year-old beauty queen can be counted on to do the sorts of things your 45-year-old aunt Sally does" situation. We've even devoted a semi-recurring feature to it called "This Week In Taylor Swift Being Taylor Swift."

Every time I think I’m a grown up, I find myself caring about something like whether Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez will be able to share a kiss at midnight on New Year’s Eve. They’ll both be in NYC, but performing on different networks. Gomez will take the stage for MTV’s Nye in NYC 2012, along with Demi Lovato, Jason Derulo, Mac Miller, and J. Cole. Bieber is one of the performers on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012, as well as Lady Gaga, Pitbull, and Hot Chelle Rae in New York,...

New York — Lady Gaga was in the Christmas spirit at Z100's annual Jingle Ball concert, but her version of "White Christmas" would have made Bing Crosby blush.
Gaga performed a slightly naughty rendition of the holiday classic Friday night as part of her mini-concert at the radio station's event at Madison Square Garden. Gaga – sporting tight studded leather pants, matching top and a bare midriff – gyrated on a set that included antlers, Christmas trees and holiday lights as she performed "White Christmas."
"So I recently added a couple of lyrics to this song because I think it's too short. It's like when you really start to enjoy it it stops. It's like a really bad orgasm. Merry Christmas New York!" she shouted. Later, she made a suggestive pose as she gave a come hither coo to Santa.
But her performance wasn't all saucy. She was nostalgic and appreciative as...

Michael Bublé looks poised to run the board for the next few weeks as his Christmas album will hold on to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart for a second week thanks to sales of 293,000. Meanwhile, Adele's Grammy-nominated 21 is up slightly as it climbs five spots to #2 on sales of 144,000, further padding her league-leading totals (4.8 million) to date this year. Justin Bieber's Under the Mistletoe is also up, moving three spots to #3, even as sales dipped by 11 percent to 133,000.
