Following the highly positive reaction to the first season of Adult Swim's My Adventures With Superman animated series, the network has announced that season 2 is set to premiere on Saturday, May 25.
The show returns to Toonami with two back-to-back episodes at midnight Et/Pt, followed by one new instalment every Saturday. New episodes will also stream Sundays on Max.
Warner Bros. Animation has also debuted the first trailer, which finds the Man of Steel, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen continuing their adventures in Metropolis, as the trio is forced to contend with the emerging threat of Lex Luthor and several other supervillains.
Fortunately, the heroes are going to have some pretty formidable back-up, as season 2 will also introduce Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl!
The first season was a big hit with fans and critics, earning a very impressive 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

[Editor’s Note: this list was originally published in March 2018. It has since been updated with new entries.]
It’s easy to think of the kind of stories that get told in the comic book world as just one genre or tone, but as seen below, graphic novels, comic strips, and other sequential art have offered up an incredible range of storytelling. And these stories have been inspiring great TV shows for years, even before superhero stories dominated the box office.
There were plenty of options that nearly made the list, like the WB’s “Smallville,” which squandered its early potential after running just a few seasons too long. Because one of the most exciting things about these stories is that there’s a rich variety to choose from.
With editorial contributions from Liz Shannon Miller, Ben Travers, and Hanh Nguyen.

Invincible Season 2 had a bunch of guest cameos from acclaimed voice actors, such as Peter Cullen, known for his work with Optimus Prime, being the voice of the coalition’s leader Thaddeus. There were also cameos from Shantel VanSanten (Becca from The Boys) as Anissa and Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant from CW’s Supergirl) as April Howsam. The show has another super-hero television alum in its ranks who is yet to make an appearance: Chloe Bennet (Quake from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D).

The series also covered many other storylines, including running the family business -- Ojai Foods, Robert’s political career, and Kitty’s infertility and adoption process. Many of these showed how the family came together and supported one another.
The show aired on Sundays after Desperate Housewives during all five seasons so audiences could enjoy different kinds of drama.

‘My Adventures With Superman’ Episode 4 Recap & Ending, Explained: What Is Prototype Parasite Armor?
With a journalist like Lois Lane by his side most of the time, it was never going to be easy for Clark to keep his identity as Superman a secret. Having been obsessed over Superman’s origins since his first appearance, Lois wanted to take an interview with the Man of Steel, and she got a brief version of that, too, in the previous episode of My Adventures With Superman. As Clark took on the Intergang in the previous episode as Superman, his vision-related powers kicked in, and he saved Metropolis from being frozen completely by destroying an advanced machine core. So far in the series, the presence of a covert organization is shown, of which Slade Wilson and Amanda Waller are members, and their investigations, along with various Kryptonian weapons, might reveal the secret behind Clark’s Kryptonian origin. In this episode, “Let’s Go To Ivo Tower, You Say,...

Adult Swim/DC’s latest animated venture, My Adventures With Superman, builds on the momentum gained by the amazing first couple of episodes in the third one, too, and explores the interesting dynamic between the Man of Steel and Lois Lane during their earliest interactions. In the previous episode, the alien origin of Clark Kent was explored. As he approached the spaceship that brought him to Earth, Clark received a vision of him being possibly the last survivor of a doomed planet and also received a costume, which, along with his adoptive mother Martha’s modifications, created the iconic costume of the titular hero.
Clark appears in public as one of the first superheroes, Superman, as Lois endearingly names him, and spoils the schemes of the villainous Leslie Willis, aka Livewire. By the end of the last episode, viewers are also introduced to a number of other characters, like Slade Wilson and Amanda Waller,...

As The Flash hit the midpoint of its final season, a visit from Nia Nal aka Dreamer brought much drama, but also some updates on Supergirl and a few of her superfriends.
For starters — and as set up during Ryan Wilder aka Batwoman’s recent visit to Central City — Nia (played by Supergirl‘s Nicole Maines) showing up unannounced at Central City Citizen Media to ask Iris for help wasn’t entirely random. Because apparently, Iris took Ryan up on her offer and recently — albeit off-screen, grrr — joined Ryan, Nia, Kara Danvers/Supergirl and her sister Alex/Sentinel for mimosa brunch.

The trio join previously announced series stars Naomi Watts and Chloë Sevigny. The second season of the Ryan Murphy anthology series will tell the true story of how Truman Capote was friends with numerous members of New York high society until he published excerpts of his unfinished novel “Answered Prayers,” with the excerpts serving as a tell-all about the city’s elite.
It was previously announced that Watts will play famed socialite Barbara “Babe” Paley, while Sevigny will play C.Z. Guest. Hollander will star as Capote, with Lane playing Nancy “Slim” Keith and Flockhart playing Lee Radziwill.
Reps for the actors, FX, and 20th Television declined to comment.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the Supergirl two-parter series finale.
It’s all or nothing for Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers and her Super Friends in the final hours of the CW’s Supergirl.
Kicking off with “The Last Gauntlet,” Supergirl picks up right were the previous installment left off – with Esme (Mila Jones) in Lex (Jon Cryer) and Nyxly (Peta Sergeant) possession. A hostage in hand, the criminals-turned-lovers propose that Kara, Alex (Chyler Leigh) and the rest of the gang trade in their totems for the kid. Of course, this is before Lex and Nyxly realize that the Love totem, absorbed by Esme in the previous episode, is already looking for a new host.
J’onn (David Harewood), Kara, Alex and Kelly (Azie Tesfai) reflect on how they’ve put their loved ones in danger – grieving the recent death of William Dey (Staz Nair). They’re all...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched “Kara,” the series finale of “Supergirl.”
After six seasons of saving National City, “Supergirl” has come to a close — but not before Kara, a.k.a. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), had to make a number of life-changing decisions.
With villains Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) and Nyxly (Peta Sergeant) in-fighting at the start of the Nov. 9 series finale, titled “Kara,” the people of Earth became increasingly despondent as the bad guys sucked out their life force. Kara realized her entire mission was noble, but flawed: “We don’t need to be heroes,” she explained to her Super friends. “We need to be partners.”
The next step was empowering people to become the heroes of their own lives, which Supergirl conveyed worldwide thanks to a power assist from Brainy (Jesse Rath). In addition to helping humanity, it also drained Lex and Nyxly’s power,...

This Supergirl article contains spoilers for Season 6, Episode 6, “Prom Again!”
Supergirl Season 6 Episode 6
Brainy and Nia’s journey back in time to Midvale saw a marked improvement (and even more time travel!) in its second episode. Part Cat Grant-origin story, part sales pitch for a Dreamer (and Brainy?) spin-off, Olivia Nikkanen (young Alex) and Izabela Vidovic (young Kara) continue to wholly embody Chyler Leigh and Melissa Benoist to an eerily impressive level. For her part, Chyler Leigh herself made her directorial debut in an episode that was so good, Brainy even happy-cried.
This episode resolved two of the biggest issues that plagued the first half of the two-parter. The bounty-hunting aliens were barely on screen, even as they became a bigger plot engine than before. Instead of forcing us to have to look at and listen to them, their ship became scenery and they were something like living MacGuffins,...

This Supergirl article contains spoilers for Season 6, Episode 5, “Prom Night!”
Supergirl Season 6 Episode 5
Supergirl’s first trip to Midvale back in season 3 was an incredibly special episode, a moody mix of winding roads and the sense of home, taking inspiration from Smallville and Veronica Mars, while giving viewers an insightful look at a true moment of growth for the Danvers sisters that also offered perspective on where they were in their modern continuity. For the final season’s return, take all those expectations and add in the promise of a young Cat Grant and two episodes to build the story. While the somewhat inaccurately named “Prom Night!” is only the first of those two episodes, unfortunately so far it doesn’t quite measure up.
The biggest hurdle for both our heroes and the tonal beauty of the previous escape to Midvale are a pair of extraterrestrial villains. Like something out...

Did this blast to the past really need to be a two-parter?
Supergirl Season 6 Episode 5's premise was exciting and had a handful of good character moments, but its momentum slowed down during the second half. It left us wondering why the Midvale storyline was being stretched out.
It's a concept that is worthy of a final season, and we are down for any excuse to feature the younger version of the Danvers sisters. Unfortunately, it seems as if the show is saving its very best of the "flashback" story for Supergirl Season 6 Episode 6.
Since Supergirl Season 6 is the show's last, it makes sense that they would want to revisit some of their greatest hits. And after a slow start, it's refreshing to see the writers circle back to what has made the series so great in the past.

Jessica Queller knows exactly what she’d like to see
As “Supergirl” nears the halfway point of its sixth and final season, fans are preparing to officially say goodbye to their favorite characters. But some are still holding out some hopes for any spin-off series — including “Supergirl” showrunner Jessica Queller.
In a conversation with TheWrap, co-showrunner Robert Rovner said there are no conversations regarding a spin-off show happening so far — but that doesn’t mean they aren’t open to it. “I wish!” Queller said with a laugh. “Call the bosses!”
And, if the call gets made, Queller knows exactly who she’d like to see in a spin-off. “I’m really attached to the Midvale girls, to the flashback episodes [with] young Kara and young Alex and young Cat Grant. I think that would be a great spin-off,” she said.

Lex Luthor better get ready, because Kara Danvers is coming for him and his hairless head in Supergirl‘s sixth and final season, as shown in an official trailer — mostly made of footage from the premiere — teasing an epic showdown with the billionaire supervillain.
The final season premiere, titled “Rebirth” and set to air Tuesday, March 30 at 9/8c, picks up where we left off in the Season 5 finale. With Brainiac (Jesse Rath) near death after attempting to stop Lex (Jon Cryer), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the team will swoop in to hopefully save him as well as face off against...

Chyler Leigh is adding another title to her résumé: director. The actress will step behind the camera for her directorial debut in Supergirl‘s sixth and final season — and TVLine has your first look.

It’s a bird… it’s a plane… no, it’s our first look at the sixth and final season of Supergirl! The CW has unveiled the first official photos from the Season 6 premiere — arriving Tuesday, March 30 at 9/8c — and it looks like the gang is in for one heck of a last ride.
The premiere, titled “Rebirth,” picks up right after the events of the Season 5 finale, in which Brainiac found himself near death after sacrificing himself in order to stop Lex Luthor from using the Obsidian platform to brainwash half the world into becoming devout followers. However, it didn’t go as planned,...

Who saw this coming?
The news that Supergirl Season 6 will be the Girl of Steel's swan song came as a shocker given the fact that its predecessor, Arrow, lasted eight seasons, and The Flash is showing no signs of stopping.
Yes, Supergirl Season 5 was not the show's finest hour, but its final episodes showed promise. Now, the writers only have one more chance to give us an enthralling season of television, and we know just where they can start.
Cat Grant
If there is one person who is missed most that all Supergirl fans can agree on, it's Cat Grant.
We know real life complications are the reason behind Cat's absence after Supergirl Season 1, but we can't help but wish for an appearance from Calista Flockhart, even if it's only for a moment.
It'll be hard to pull off, especially now that we are in the middle of a pandemic,...

Every reboot of Superman tries something different, striving to find a fresh approach to the material, and Superman: Man of Tomorrow is no different. This direct-to-video release, out now from Warner Home Entertainment, is intended as the opening chapter in a new continuity, a Rebirth, as it were, of the DC Animated Universe.

We're finally getting an Arrowverse Superman TV series, and we have high hopes for Superman and Lois.
For the first time in over 25 years, we’re going to get an actual Superman TV series. In the years since Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman went off the air, we’ve had Smallville, Supergirl (who needs no introduction), and Krypton (a sci-fi time travel space opera about Superman’s grandfather). But a weekly show set in Metropolis with Superman, Lois Lane, and all of the traditional Man of Steel trappings seemed like it was off the menu, despite Supergirl's introduction of Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as note-perfect versions of Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
That’s all going to change with Superman and Lois, a new Arrowverse series from Todd Helbing, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns that will focus on the pair’s adventures as heroes,...

Kara’s suit isn’t the only upgrade coming to Supergirl‘s fifth season. Andrea Brooks, who has recurred as Eve Teschmacher since 2016, is being promoted to series regular, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Initially introduced to viewers as Cat Grant’s plucky assistant, Eve has evolved into a much more pivotal — and diabolical — character as of late. Her true nature was exposed towards the end of Season 4, when it was revealed that she’d secretly spent years working for Lex Luthor.

Sunday’s Supergirl turned the clock back three years — all the way to 2015, when this show was still on CBS — to explain how Lex Luthor enlisted his surprising sidekicks, including his “daughter.”
First came Eve Teschmacher, a Lex super fan with a genuine thirst for his specific flavor of Kool-Aid. She praised his “once-in-a-generation mind” and believed he was humanity’s last hope against alien invaders. And because flattery will get you everywhere with Lex, he asked Eve for a simple favor: land a job as Cat Grant’s assistant and await further commands. (It’s worth noting that both...

Though Supergirl tells the story of Kara Zor-El first and foremost, it’s nearly impossible to avoid certain hallmarks of the DC Universe given her relationship to Superman. Already, Tyler Hoechlin’s suited up as the Man of Steel on several occasions and we’ve also seen other notable characters like James Olsen and Cat Grant putting in appearances as well.
With all that in mind, you’d think that Lex Luthor wouldn’t be far behind, but aside from seeing him in his younger days via a flashback sequence, he’s only been name-dropped around National City. That’s all about to change though, as season 4 will finally bring us the moment we’ve all been waiting for, as Jon Cryer will debut as the Big Blue Boy Scout’s most famous foe in “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”

Fans can catch an early glimpse of DC’s animated Reign of the Superman feature at premiere events in NYC and La.
Reign of the Supermen will please an enthusiastic fandom with whom this past summer’s DC animated epic, The Death of Superman, resonated, having captured the original pop-culture-proliferating 1992 comic book storyline to a poignant tee. Indeed, Reign, adapting DC’s follow-up storyline that – after less than a year – built up to the resurrection of the martyred Man of Steel, will similarly put a classic comic through a modernized lens; one that certain proactive fans will be able to watch early at a bicoastal premiere screening event!

The 2018 DC TV Arrowverse crossover closes with explosive developments on Supergirl! Here's a spoiler-filled look at "Elseworlds Part 3."
This Supergirl review contains spoilers.
Supergirl Season 7 Episode 9
"Elseworlds Part 3" had a huge mandate - show off the Trigger Twins in a fun way, wrap up Deegan and the Monitor with a satisfying conclusion, and, apparently, launch about a thousand other major Arrowverse story lines. And do it all with a million characters we love, in an alternate reality that would maintain the high quality of "Elseworlds Part 1" and "Elseworlds Part 2." Conclusions are always hard - answers are less fun than spinning impossible mysters - but "Elseworlds Part 3" did an admirable job and largely kept the charm and levity of the earlier entries while still managing to shock.
"Elseworlds Part 3" functions largely in the traditional parallel world narrative – characters we know, behaving with many familiar elements, with a few important tweaks that,...

Supergirl is like the girl version of Superman.
There. No need for an introductory paragraph. I said it.
Supergirl was Arrowverse’s first female-led superhero show, and it was just apt to have it that way. Even before the news came out, it was a no-brainer that the first female superhero who would get their own show within the Arrowverse starts with Wonder, Bat, or Super.
When the first news broke about Supergirl being made into series in 2014, the excitement was overflowing. Add to that the news of Calista Flockhart and Chyler Leigh casting into the roles of Cat Grant and Alex Danvers, respectively.
Also, being a fan of the multiple incarnations of Superman in films and television, I couldn’t help but be intrigued about what could make Supergirl, as the main hero, different than when she was just a side character next to her famous super-cousin.

Upon posting the first trailer for Reign of the Supermen the other day, I knew in my bones that much more info regarding the next DC animated movie was sure to follow. And as it turns out, my suspicion proved correct because Warner Bros. have pulled back the curtain on the highly anticipated followup to The Death of Superman.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait for too much longer, as the film will drop digitally on January 15, 2019, with Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack releases bringing up the rear on January 29. Basically, this was what we expected after taking past quarter one debuts into account.

Sorry, eligible bachelors of National City, but Kara Danvers won’t be swiping right anytime soon. Supergirl‘s fourth season, which continues Sunday (The CW, 8/7c), reinforces the idea that “you can find empowerment in many different avenues of life,” star Melissa Benoist tells TVLine, confirming that there’s “not much” romance coming up for the Girl of Steel.

In the very near future though, we’ll meet the Arrowverse...

“For the first time in my life, I’ve got everything under control,” Kara boasted atop Sunday’s Supergirl season premiere, which meant it was only a matter of time before everything fell apart. And it did. Quickly.
After a day of stopping runaway trains and returning priceless paintings all around the world, Kara figured that a break-in at a National City laboratory would be business as usual. Unfortunately, the criminals — Mercy and Otis Graves, former security experts for the Luthor family, now working for the mysterious Agent Liberty — were ready for the Girl of Steel, paralyzing her with sound...
