S.E. Cupp, the CNN political commentator and columnist, is hosting a new political talk show, Battleground, for Fox First Run.
The 30-minute show, which will air on Fox TV stations and in syndication, will focus on seven swing states this cycle. Its newsletter launch today is being followed by a broadcast debut on June 10, with clearances on the Fox stations and Bahakel Communications Ltd.’s CW 18 in Charlotte, Nc. Plans are for the show to air on Mondays for nine weeks before expanding to five days a week starting in Aug. 12.
The show also will feature local correspondents from Fox stations, including Jeff Cole and Shiba Russell from Fox29 in Philadelphia; Russ Spencer from Fox 5 in Atlanta; John Hook, Ellen McNamara and Steve Nielsen from Fox 10 in Phoenix and Jason Calvi from Fox 6 in Milwaukee.
The states represent 93 electoral votes in the presidential election: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Nevada.

S.E. Cupp, the longtime political analyst and CNN contributor will have more to say during the run-up to the 2024 presidential election on a new roundtable program for Fox-owned TV stations.
Fox intends to air “Battleground” starting June 10 every Monday across all of its owned-and-operated stations as well as Wccb, a CW station in Charlotte, Nc. After nine weeks, the program will expand to five days a week starting August 12. th.
“Battleground” will focus intently on issues and politics in seven critical swing states — and in doing so, may help Fox capture what is expected to be a heady flow of ad dollars from political ad campaigns spending heavily in Senate races, among others.
“In what is shaping up to be a record political advertising year in local media, this initiative positions us to reap the benefits of exuberant spending on all sides,” says Stephen Brown, executive vice president of programming...

CNN’s cost-cutting efforts are expected to have significant effects on the cable network Hln, according to four people familiar with the matter, with potential ramifications for one of the nation’s longest-running morning programs.
Hln, the cable network once known as CNN Headline News, is home to a bevy of true-crime series, endless showings of “Forensic Files,” and “Morning Express with Robin Meade,” with a host who has been at the network since 2001. Now, all of that is under the microscope. In addition, a number of popular correspondents and journalists were terminated from the Warner Bros. Discovery backed outlet Thursday.
CNN will no longer produce live programs for Hln, according to one of these people, and will simulcast “CNN This Morning” in place of “Morning Express,” the A.M. news program that takes up most of Hln’s daytime schedule. Hln’s true-crime programming will be placed under the...

As previously announced, “The View” is celebrating 25 years of intractable morning arguments between friends by inviting back former co-hosts to sit at the table, and three heavy hitters have just been announced for February, TheWrap has confirmed.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Meredith Vieira will be returning to the show years after leaving. They’ll be joined by Star Jones, who has already shown up to guest this season starting last September. They will each co-host next month, with Jones’ appearance set for Feb. 4.
Jones and Vieira were two of the show’s original hosts, sticking with the show from its launch in 1997 until both exited after the 9th season in 2006. Hasselbeck joined the show in Season 7 in 2003, and stuck around until 2013. She’s one of two successful attempts at having a long-running conservative co-host for the show, the other being Megan McCain, who quit last year.

Kristin Chenoweth, Kathy Najimy, Linda Perry, Lauren Blitzer and Chely Wright are being announced as the compilers of a forthcoming book that, inspired by (but not limited to) the #MeToo movement, lets women from the entertainment industry and other walks of life describe a crucial point of adversity that propelled them into forward motion for good.
The essay collection, titled “My Moment: 106 Women on Fighting for Themselves,” has been acquired for world rights by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, and will come out April 26, 2022.
“For so long, women have been silent about things that have hurt them or made them feel ashamed,” says Chenoweth. “I’ve kept my story quiet for a long time, and yes, it was scary to tell, but I’m doing it because I feel so empowered to stand with these incredible girls and women. Whoopi Goldberg will remain with “The View” for at least four more years, TheWrap has learned.
The daytime series’ longtime host has signed a new four-year contract that will take her through its 28th season and the summer of 2025, according to an individual with knowledge of the deal. Financial details of the new contract are not known.
ABC declined to comment.
Goldberg just began her 15th season earlier this month. Her new contract comes as the ABC show has had numerous shuffles in front of the camera over the past few years. Meghan McCain was the most recent co-host to depart the show, which she did in August after four seasons. Sara Haines is in her second season after returning to “The View” last September to replace Abby Huntsman.
“The View” is currently filling McCain’s slot with a rotating cast of guest conservative co-hosts, which began with former Utah Congresswoman Mia Love.

Hln is settling back into a life of crime.
The cable network, operated by CNN, has been increasing its production of original series that explore mystery and crime, a move that hearkens to a previous era when the outlet was best known for its coverage of prominent court cases and exploring their ramifications with colorful primetime shows.
“We have doubled down on our strategy of emphasizing long-form programming focused on mystery, crime and investigation,” says Ken Jautz, executive vice president of CNN U.S., who oversees the cable network known in a previous era as CNN Headline News. “This is what has been resonating with our audience.” In an interview, Jautz said the network has expanded the number of long-form series on its schedule to 12 in 2019, compared with just two in the first half of 2017.
Hln recently launched “Very Scary People,” a docu-series hosted by actor Donnie Wahlberg that examines the lives of infamous murderers.

“The current cable news landscape is dominated by politics. Our live news shows have not benefited from this trend given our story mix,” CNN Evp/Hln overlord Ken Jautz told staff today in a memo, announcing Hln network’s latest Better Idea.
“In today’s news environment, every network has to focus on its strengths. To ensure Hln’s growth, we will shift some of our resources from live to longform programming and produce our live shows in as streamlined a manner as possible,” Jautz continued.
“The best way to do this is to centralize production of live news programming in Atlanta.”
Surviving the latest purge, Robin Meade’s Morning Express expands to gobble up 6 Am-noon Et.
Also taking on another hour is On the Story, which has followed Meade’s program and had been anchored by Erica Hill. It will now be anchored by a stable of hosts taking turns.

Hln, once known as CNN Headline News, will deliver fewer headlines as a result of the cable network’s latest programming shift.
Executives are pulling back on the news programming that has filled the outlet’s daytime schedule in a wide-scale retrenchment at the network, which is part of At&T’s CNN. Hln in recent years has stocked mornings, afternoons and early evenings with popular hosts like Ashleigh Banfield, Carol Costello and Michaela Pereira. All three will leave Hln as part of the reshuffling, which, according to a person familiar with the matter, will affect between 12 and 15 production and editorial positions in New York and Los Angeles. The bulk of production for Hln daytime will revert to CNN’s Atlanta facilities, where the network’s flagship “Morning Express with Robin Meade” is based.

She’s still working through it," S.E. Cupp, 39, told host Andy Cohen during Watch What Happens Live on Monday, Sept. 17. "She’s taking a leave before she comes back into it all." Update with video Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer said on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher tonight that the NBA not only has a more racially diverse – and younger – fan base than the NFL, but encourages its players to “express themselves.”
“I’ll speak for the NBA,” Ballmer said tonight. “We believe our players should express themselves. We are pleased to see our players express themselves. I encourage our players, use your platform. Speak.”
Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft and owner since 2014 of L.A.’s basketball franchise, made the NBA-NFL distinction during a panel discussion of conservatism in sports and the NFL’s attempts to keep players from protesting during the national anthem.
Mark Leibovich, New York Times writer and author of The Big Game: The NFL in Dangerous Times, said football is by far the “most Republican” sport, with a largely Republican fan base.

They’re getting it right at “The View.”
Abby Huntsman, who has worked at Fox News Channel as a general assignment reporter and co-host of the weekend edition of “Fox & Friends,” is expected to join the ABC daytime talk show, according to a person familiar with the situation. Huntsman, who is the daughter of Jon Huntsman, the U.S. Ambassador to Russia, would bolster the ranks of young Republicans around “The View’s” table, joining Meghan McCain.
ABC declined to make executives available for comment. Huntsman is expected to work her last stint on “Fox & Friends Weekend” this Saturday and Sunday, Fox News said in a statement.
Huntsman joins “The View” after several news outlets have sought to burnish their Republican credentials with Donald Trump in the White House and Republicans ascendant in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. MSNBC has found success with Nicolle Wallace, a former...

S.E. Cupp, the conservative-leaning host of Hln’s 5 p.m. hour weekdays, will have to start working for the weekend. Her program, “Unflitered,” will air between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturdays on CNN starting August 25th.
The move was announced internally at CNN Thursday morning. Hln is expected to show taped programming in her place during its 5 p.m. hour for the foreseeable future.
Cupp’s “Unfiltered” provides the At&T-owned cable-news network with a right-of-center voice at a time when the White House has cast it as an antagonist. Cupp, who previously was one of the hosts on a CNN revival of “Crossfire,” has not been afraid to wade into debates about politics or pop culture during her Hln tenure. “You won’t always agree with me, but I’ll always be honest and I will ask my guests to be the same,” she told Variety in March...

Stephanie Cutter, the former Deputy Campaign Manager for Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign and more recently a CNN political commentator, has joined ABC News as a contributor.
The announcement was made this morning on This Week with George Stephanopoulos, during the host’s introduction of Cutter as a panelist.
Stephanopoulos’ announcement was followed up by a statement released by ABC News, which noted that Cutter will “offer political analysis and insight across ABC News programs and live events.”
On CNN, Cutter was among the panelists of a revived, but short-lived, Crossfire in 2013-’14, along with Van Jones, Newt Gingrich and S.E. Cupp.
In addition to her TV punditry, Cutter is a founding partner of Precision Strategies, a strategic consulting firm in Washington D.C. and New York City.
Prior to her work with the 2012 Obama campaign, Cutter served in the White House as assistant to Obama and deputy senior adviser for communications and strategy.

You might liken it to “Crossfire” for the era of President Donald Trump.
Talent agency UTA has casually pitched MSNBC and CNN the idea of a new program featuring Trump confidant Anthony Scaramucci and anti-Trump attorney Michael Avenatti, according to a person familiar with the situation. No deal has been made, this person said, and there is no guarantee the concept will come to fruition. A show could not launch until after Avenatti dispenses with current client obligations, this person cautioned, including the case he has been pursuing on behalf of adult actress Stormy Daniels.
MSNBC declined to comment. UTA declined to comment. A CNN spokesperson could not be reached for immediate comment. The nascent effort to package the two figures was reported previously by The New York Times.

CNN's S.E. Cupp thinks she is a better atheist than Bill Maher, and “liberals” in general. That's right. Apparently, not believing in God is a contest and the “Crossfire” co-host thinks conservatives win. See video: Holy Moses!
