The new series of Quantum Leap has brought in many elements from the original show. The returns of Beth (Susan Diol) and one-time leapee Magic (Ernie Hudson), name-checking the Evil Leapers, addressing the question of whether Sam (Scott Bakula) ever made it home, and many more. But two seasons in a major part of Quantum Leap lore has failed to be even hinted at.
Sam’s daughter. Sammy Jo.
Introduced as part of the “Trilogy” series of episodes in 1992 in the original Quantum Leap’s fifth and final season, Sammy Jo’s origin is complicated. The three episodes follow Sam as he leaps into different people attempting to help a woman named Abigail Fuller, who in each leap is accused of murder. Hulu announced its forthcoming “Mastermind” docuseries based on the life of nurse and longtime FBI consultant Dr. Ann Burgess on Friday.

Dakota and Elle Fanning will produce the docuseries “Mastermind,” about Dr. Ann Burgess of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit, Hulu announced on Friday. The sisters’ Lewellen Pictures teams with Campfire Studios for the true-crime project.
Burgess spent her career interviewing and studying convicted serial killers, gleaning insight to apply to unsolved cases. She revolutionized the way law enforcement investigates serial killers and was the architect of the FBI’s “mindhunter” method, as shown in David Fincher’s Netflix series of the same name. Anna Torv starred in the show as the Burgess-inspired character Wendy Carr.
“Mastermind” will draw from Burgess’ 2021 book “A Killer by Design: Murders, Mindhunters, and My Quest to Decipher Criminal Minds,” and exclusive access to her personal records. The docuseries will tell the story of her defining cases as well as shed light on the often-forgotten anti-rape movement of the late ’60s and early ’70s.

Remember this lot popping up in Quantum Leap? They're our pick of the best guest performances in the time travel show...
Once again, we’re celebrating great guest performances in one of our favourite shows. We’re defining a guest appearance as an actor who plays a particular character no more than twice over the run of the show. There’s a bit more competition for the list for this show than most – since Quantum Leap only had two regular cast members and nearly every other actor on the show appeared only once!
See related Limbo and the return of the 2D platformer 10. Bruce McGill as Al the Bartender in Mirror Image
Al the Bartender is far from the only mysterious, enigmatic, highly knowledgeable bartender in science fiction and fantasy (Nelson the barman in Life On Mars springs to mind, for one). However, he is a key...
