Long-time FEARnet fave Dani Filth (aka Daniel Davey), best known as the founder and vocalist for iconic metal band Cradle of Filth, has now stepped in as official vocalist for another horror-themed metal band in the UK. The group Devilment, formed in 2011 by guitarist Daniel Finch, was having difficulty locking down a permanent lineup. The band finalized their instrumental core in late 2012, recruiting Dan Jackson on lead guitar, bassist Nick Johnson, and Aaron Boast behind the drumkit; they were still seeking a vocalist when Dani offered his services. What began as a few tracks with Dani's vocals on the band's studio demo Grotescapology turned into eight demo tracks in all, including titles like “Psycho Babble,” “Bloodlust, Rust and Empire,” “Even Your Blood Group Rejects Me,” “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" (based on a horrifying story by Harlan Ellison), “Mother Kali” and “Staring at the Werewolf Corps.” While recording is still in progress,...

Anthology comics are a hard thing to make work, mostly because in order to work, the writer has to make self-contained stories of just a few pages feel satisfying from a narrative standpoint, which in comics is up there with untangling Hawkman’s character history.
Some writers can pull it off, and some can’t, almost inevitably you’ll get a mix of the two in any anthology, and “Dia De Los Mueurtos”, a new anthology miniseries from Image and creator/artist Riley Rossmo, is no exception to this.
The stories all take place on the Mexican holiday the book is named for, a much more culturally significant, less commercialized and diabetes-inducing equivalent of Halloween, in...

Oh, snap Jessica Simpson! Ex Tony Romo is now expecting a little one too! According to Us Weekly, the NFL player made the announcement that his wife Candice Crawford is pregnant at a recent anti-drug rally at Cedar Hill High School. At the event he stated, "I actually have one on the way. My wife is pregnant."
Tony and Candice married in May 2011 after they began dating in 2009 very shorty after Tony broke up with Simpson.
This comes only days after Jessica finally broke the news that she too is pregnant. Which, is getting quite frustrating actually. Did she not get handed a large amount of money from Ok! Magazine to break the news? Other news outlets recently seem to be questioning the baby bump calling it 'curvy' and is still asking themselves if a baby is on the way. Um, yes. It's quite obvious.

The brooding, intense rock group Zola Jesus earned an enviable slot at this year’s annual Cmj Music Marathon: Last night, their performance at (Le) Poisson Rouge was webcast live by National Public Radio’s NPR Music.
Prior to the show, the band’s singer and songwriter Nika Danilova was a tad nervous: Twenty-two years old, she realized the prime showcase could expand their audience. Or technical glitches could set them back. “What if all the computers won’t work?...

For the second year in a row, HBO has set up a property as a potential producing and starring vehicle for James Gandolfini. According to Deadline.com, "Breaking Bad" writer-producer Peter Gould is developing Nicholas Johnson's darkly comedic memoir "Big Dead Place" for Gandolfini. The book focuses on Johnson's time working for the U.S. Antarctic Program at McMurdo Station. [We'd recommend Werner Herzog's documentary "Encounters at the End of the World" for a sense of the world of McMurdo.] It wasn't so long ago -- last May, in fact -- that HBO recruited a writer to develop the French-Canadian...

James Gandolfini is developing a new project with HBO, and he'll be involved both behind and possibly in front of the camera.
"The Sopranos" star will executive produce a drama called "Big Dead Place," which has the rather novel setting of the McMurdo Station research outpost in Antarctica, Deadline reports. The show is based on a memoir by Nicholas Johnson about his time spent working for the U.S. Antarctic Program.
Gandolfini is also likely to star in the pilot, which will chronicle how the people stationed at McMurdo deal with being so far removed from the rest of civilization.
"Breaking Bad" writer-producer Peter Gould (who also wrote "Too Big to Fail" for HBO) will pen the pilot and executive produce with Gandolfini. Jimmy Miller ("Bad Teacher," "The Life and Times of Tim"), Nancy Sanders, Mark Armstrong and Brian Swibel will also serve as exec producers.

Former Sopranos star and HBO favourite James Gandolfini is looking to executive produce and star in Big Dead Place, an adaptation of Nicholas Johnson's memoir Big Dead Place: Inside the Strange and Menacing World of Antarctica. As first reported by Deadline the project is being developed for HBO and will see Breaking Bad's Peter Gould tapped to write the adaptation.
Big Dead Place explores what happens when a scientific and research project takes place in a location that is inhospitable to humans. Nicholas Johnson, who was a dishwasher and garbage man at McMurdo Station found the situation to be much different from his grand expectations of life on a research facility. Firstly due to the harsh conditions they rarely left their station which led to some interesting psychological conditions and bizarre activities. This was further fuelled by boredom and alcohol; two factors that made this scientific haven more like a college dorm.

James Gandolfini is headed back to HBO for a new drama. THR reports that Gandolfini is developing Big Dead Place, based on Nicholas Johnson’s memoir about his work in the U.S. Antarctic Program.
The project is being written and exec produced by Breaking Bad's Peter Gould. HBO and Gould recently teamed with on Andrew Ross Sorkin's Too Big to Fail. Gandolfini is also serving as executive producer on the project, that could be a starring vehicle for the actor.
HBO and Gandolfiini have a great working relationship together and I hope that this does become a project the actor stars in. What are your thoughts on this news?

James Gandolfini might want to pack a parka for his next project. The former "Sopranos" star has landed a deal with HBO for an adaptation of Nicholas Johnson's memoir "Big Dead Place," about working for the U.S. Antarctic Program, and the effects that staying in a remote, frozen area for extended periods of time had on his psyche, HBO confirms to TheWrap. Gandolfini will co-executive produce with "Breaking Bad" producer Peter Gould. The project, currently in development, is being considered as a starring vehicle for the actor. As reported earlier, Gandolfini has also...

It’s been four years since that divisive cut-to-black ending of HBO’s iconic drama The Sopranos, and since then James Gandolfini has largely concentrated on his film career. But he’s returned to the channel from time to time to produce documentaries and appear in at least one TV movie (Cinema Verite). Plus, his production company Attaboy Films has had a deal there to develop other possible shows for him, and while none have so far come to fruition, he’s trying again, grabbing the rights to Nicholas Johnson’s memoir Big Dead Place. No, it’s not about a quiet spot for mobsters to bury corpses. This actually chronicles Johnson’s time working for the Us Antarctic Program at McMurdo Station. As you might imagine, it takes a special type of person to willingly head out to one of the last untamed frontiers in the world and the...

NBCU has created its answer to an online ad network -- though one comprised solely of its owned-and-operated sites.
Called Universal Audience Platform, the group, which will have its own logo and staff, will be headed by Nick Johnson, senior vp NBCU Digital Media Sales. He will report to Peter Naylor, executive vp NBCU Digital Media Sales.
The Uap group will sell display inventory across 21 sites on an audience basis, including NBC.com, USANetwork.com, Bravotv.com, iVillage.com and Telemundo.com, as well as NBC's 10 O&O TV station sites.
As a result, NBCU will "sharply curtail" selling its inventory via third-party ad networks, said Naylor -- following the lead of several top publishers such as Espn.com. While NBCU will continue to use some networks to sell international impressions, the company's move to take control of its online ad sales is aimed at positioning NBCU as a high-reach...
