Chuck Wicks is feeling “lucky” to be alive after a serious car accident left him with a fracture to his skull and vertebrae, and he took to Facebook Wednesday to recount his “scary couple days.”
The country singer and radio personality was traveling with his America’s Morning Show co-hosts, Ty Bentli and Kelly Ford, along with producer Glenn Johnson, to New Orleans to appear as grand marshals in a Mardi Gras parade when the accident happened.

Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne is set to sign for Liverpool this week for £12.5 million subject to a medical, The Mirror reports.
The Saints have accepted an offer for their star full-back and he is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Reds after completing his medical later today.
The 24-year-old who looks to be a replacement for Glen Johnson will become Liverpool’s sixth signing of the summer following the recent purchases of James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings.
Clyne made 35 appearances last season, scoring 2 goals and establishing himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.
The England international who only had one year left on his existing contract will be the forth player to make the move from St Mary’s to Anfield after Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert all made the move last summer.

Last summer saw Brendan Rodgers spend over £100 million as he aimed to improve on the squad that challenged for the Premier League title last season.
There was a huge squad overhaul with the likes of Daniel Agger, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Luis Suarez, Martin Kelly and Pepe Reina all being shown the Anfield exit door, arguably some of them should still be at the club.
With the money that Liverpool got from the sale of Suarez, they invested it on improving the depth of the squad so they could challenge for the title again.
Some of the players Rodgers brought in failed to impress in the early stages of their Liverpool career, most notably Dejan Lovren and Mario Balotelli.
The signings had all Liverpool fans excited for this season, and a recent turn in results suggests that the squad is now starting to gel. However, they...

Sorry, Mr. Secretary, but the king's funeral is no excuse. Secretary of State John Kerry was in Saudi Arabia with President Obama and the First Lady to attend the funeral of King Abdullah when winter storm Juno dumped about two feet of snow outside Kerry's brownstone back home in Boston. The white stuff sat in a pristine pile on his Beacon Hill sidewalk for two days. After Kerry was "snow shamed" by a camera-wielding Bostonian posting a citizen complaint online, the city slapped Kerry with a $50 fine on Thursday morning. By Thursday evening, the sidewalks were clear. "Diplomats - they're just like us.

As often happens after England’s biennial tournament humiliation, the British press and public call for an injection of young blood. This was perhaps louder than ever following this summer’s World Cup in Brazil. The problem is, there isn’t always a hotbed of talent to pick from, especially when the domestic league is full of so much money and foreign purchases.
Nevertheless, coach Roy Hodgson has the task of finding such talent to replace the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Glen Johnson, Michael Carrick and Phil Jagielka. So far, the revolution has introduced Calum Chambers, Nathaniel Clyne, Fraser Forster and John Stones to the Three Lions but, going into 2015, who is next?
When looking for new internationals, it was a shock to see so many average to mediocre players that already have one or two caps, therefore ruling them out of this list.

Liverpool are in Spain preparing for tonight’s daunting Champions League showdown with Real Madrid, knowing that a victory would arguably be the most unlikely triumph in the club’s history. Brendan Rodgers’ side are in extremely poor form, both domestically and in Europe, while Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded team are scoring goals for fun and are the current champions of Europe. They key question is: has there ever been a game the Reds were less likely to win since the competition’s inception in 1992?
The 2005 Champions League Final is probably a good place to start. AC Milan, managed by Ancelotti at the time, had a ridiculous amount of talent in their side, whether it be Cafu and Paolo Maldini at the back, Andrea Pirlo, Clarence Seedorf and Kaka in midfield or the brilliant Andriy Shevchenko up front. Not many gave Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool much hope,...

West Ham have long had the reputation of a ‘feeder’ club, highlighted most prominently by the 2003 season which saw countless players including many academy players leave following the club’s relegation. A team which included stars such as Jermain Defoe, Paulo Di Canio, Joe Cole, Frederic Kanoute and Glen Johnson, saw these players all leave in following season’s transfer windows to varying endeavours. Other notable players such as Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick were sold on at the beginnings of what could have been illustrious careers at West Ham.
Frank Lampard is a prime example of a player that went on to great post-West Ham success with Chelsea, but the decision to leave West Ham has not been a wise one for everyone. Whether higher expectations for money or an ambition for a bigger club, players have left in search of something more; something that they failed to find.

On the back of the news that Sevilla will only allow Alberto Moreno to leave the club after the UEFA Super Cup against Champions League winners Real Madrid, Sky Sports are reporting that the full-back is Brendan Rodgers’ priority in the transfer market.
The exciting left-back will apparently join Liverpool for around £16million after the showpiece event at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on Tuesday, and Suso could well be going the other way as part of the same deal.
Liverpool have already strengthened considerably ahead of the new season, but remain light at full-back, where Glen Johnson was roundly criticised at times last season. Javier Manquillo has been loaned to strengthen at right-back, and now Moreno would presumably sign as first-choice left-back (considering his price), putting Jose Enrique’s future into doubt and pushing Jon Flanagan back to a supporting role.

As Brendan Rodgers looks forward to his first season without Luis Suarez, his club have confirmed their seventh summer signing, in the shape of Spanish youth international Javier Manquillo, who will sign on loan from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
Having began his career at Real Madrid, the 20-year-old defender switched city allegiance to Atletico in 2007, and though he has so far only started 6 games since then, and was sidelined for a month last term thanks to a nasty looking neck injury, he is deemed a star for the future. That is presumably the thinking behind the temporary deal to Liverpool – which is widely expected to be confirmed as a two year loan with a view to a £5m permanent deal – who only have Glen Johnson as an option at right-back (with Jon Flanagan able to cover both flanks).

Having just put the final touches to the deal that has seen highly rated Belgian striker Divock Origi join the club for £10m, and return to his former side Lille on loan, it turns out that Brendan Rodgers still hasn’t finished his summer spending spree.
He’s already seen an attempt to sign Loic Remy rebuffed by either some mysterious conspiracy that Harry Redknapp is on the trail of uncovering or a deep lying medical condition that made him fail not only the medical, but also a second opinion examination in Boston, depending on who you ask, but Rodgers is undeterred in his agenda to bring in as many new strikers as possible ahead of a busy season back in the Champions League.

Have you heard the one about Phil Neville's World Cup commentary. I Said Have You Heard The One About Phil Neville'S World Cup Commentary!
The BBC's World Cup coverage launched in full over the weekend and despite having approximately 456 pundits flown out to Brazil, somebody, somewhere thought it was a smart idea to give Phil Neville his first big co-commentary gig in the England v Italy game.
Don't worry, Phil, there's only 15 million people watching. Nobody will notice if you get off to a shaky start. Oh, hang on.
Barely registering above a whisper, Neville sounded like he'd come straight off the set of Jamaica Inn. Throw in a staccato presentation manner, which meant that he barely broke into sentences longer than half a dozen lines long (Was he actually being really smart and speaking in Haikus?), and you've got a recipe for one the most simultaneously snooze-inducing...

Liverpool have made a shock loan bid for Micah Richards, reports The Daily Mail. Liverpool are currently short in the right back position with Glen Johnson suffering from a number of injuries that are limiting his playing opportunities.
The bid was immediately rejected by Manchester City, meaning that Brendan Rodgers will either have to come in with a better offer or look elsewhere for cover.
Richards has made only nine appearances for Manchester City in the last two seasons, as Pablo Zabaleta has been preferred at right back by manager Manuel Pellegrini. Micah Richards has let it be known in recent weeks that he would look at leaving the club if he was not able to get more first team football.

Championship club Afc Bournemouth have never beaten Liverpool in four previous attempts – all in the Fa Cup. Will their fifth ever meeting produce a giant-killing in the fourth round at Dean Court?
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will hope to avoid such a banana skin on the eve of his 41st birthday. Cherries counterpart Eddie Howe is five years his junior, but both managers saw their own playing careers blighted by injury. Now they will be their coaching wits against one another.
Bournemouth boast a decent recent home record of just one defeat in the last two months. Nine goals have gone in during their four fixtures on their own patch since Christmas. Liverpool meanwhile have enjoyed mixed results on the road.
Defeats at Manchester City and Chelsea were sandwiched between big scoring wins away at Spurs and Stoke.

The Potters found little cheer over the festive period either, picking up just one point from nine available.

If there is one thing that can be learned by Liverpool’s performances against Manchester City and Chelsea in recent weeks, it is that they are improving and they are a top side, but they’re still not quite there in terms of title contention. The Merseyside team have grown in leaps and bounds recently and performances have evidently been improving, though they tend to fall short whenever facing the creme-de-la-creme in the Premier League, with the exception of the Manchester United and Tottenham wins earlier in the season. With the goals of Suarez, solid performances from the likes of Sakho and Sturridge, and the staggering improvements in Jordan Henderson, the future looks bright for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
However, the fact remains that Liverpool were top of the league on Christmas Day and have since dropped down four places to fifth. Needless to say,...

Liverpool and Luis Suarez, the Premier League’s top scorer, face Chelsea for the first time since the star striker picked up a ten-match ban for biting Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic in April.
Far from being billed as Jaws 2, this encounter will be a serious test of both sides’ title credentials as they sit next to one another in the top four. Chelsea have won only one of their last five meetings with the Reds at Stamford Bridge to boot.
This pits Blues boss Jose Mourinho against protégé Brendan Rodgers for the first time in Premier League history, and the Special One stirred the pot when he suggested Liverpool could become champions.

Tottenham Hotspur can move level on points with opponents Liverpool by winning at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Andre Villas Boas’s side have found their shooting boots in December after netting ten times in their last four outings.
Much-maligned Spanish striker Roberto Soldado silenced his critics by hitting a hat-trick in the midweek Europa League win over once wealthy Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala. That ensured Spurs made it a perfect six wins in the group stage.
Brendan Rodgers meanwhile takes his Reds to Tottenham knowing they have lost on each of their last five Premier League visits. There is every incentive to change that losing habit at the Lane as three points will restore the Merseysiders to second spot behind Arsenal.
Liverpool have not won an away from Anfield since the end of September, however, and have picked up just two points from the last dozen available on the road.

Liverpool will be hopeful of putting the Arsenal defeat behind them as they continue to keep themselves in contention with Arsenal at the summit. Coutinho is hit and miss whether he will indeed start against a Fulham side greatly lacking in confidence, but Brendan Rodgers’ men are heavy favourites to dole out another defeat for the Cottagers.
Martin Jol and Fulham look to be in another relegation dogfight this season as they cannot stop conceding goals. The side are surrendering chances far too readily in the Premier League this campaign, and the manager’s job is on the line as a result. They’ll do well to keep Liverpool quiet, as only two other sides have scored more league goals than the Reds this season.

Arsenal went five points clear at the top of the Premier League by beating nearest challengers Liverpool thanks to classy strikes from Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger made one alteration from the XI that started the win at Crystal Palace. Tomas Rosicky replaced Mathieu Flamini. Mikel Arteta served his ban for the red card picked up in that game in midweek. Jack Wilshere missed out with an ankle problem.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was without right back Glen Johnson again due to illness, so academy product Jon Flanagan deptuized. Brazil playmaker Philippe Coutinho was back on the bench after six weeks out with a shoulder injury.
Czech captain Rosicky worked Simon Mignolet on five minutes after a one-two with Cazorla. Liverpool’s Belgian keeper tipped a shot across goal behind. Jordan Henderson then fluffed his lines as he caught Cazorla in possession and broke for the visitors.

Yesterday, Roy Hodgson named his 25 man England squad for the upcoming vital 2014 World Cup Qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine. In it he named some familiar faces, he kept some players who performed in the Scotland and handed call ups to one or two fresh faces.
In this entry, I will be giving you the squad and deciding whether they were the right calls position by position and if someone more deserving should replace a player named in the squad, I will justify why they should be given a look-in.
Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster, Joe Hart, John Ruddy
The selection of the keepers is quite predictable – since there is such a small pool of talent playing in the top flight. Joe Hart is clearly number one, but it is nice to see Forster has got a call up after impressing in the Champions League last year.

Since the guide to the best point-per-pound Fantasy Premier League was so popular, here’s yet another little bit of statistical analysis; the best 20 players from the action on Saturday 17th August.
The opening day saw a slew of goals, assists, and clean sheets from both old and new players, and with Manchester United setting the early pace, it’s an interesting time to consider whether to buy some of their unfancied stalwarts.
I’ve gone through how they got their points, and various other little tid-bits, such as their goal/assist/clean sheet pedigrees, their likelihood of playing consistently, and various other little small factors which can be the difference between a good team and a great team. Each of these 20 players is in a different scenario, so it’s important to consider all of the various factors before choosing to buy and sell.

Wayne Rooney is a surprise inclusion in the England squad for their clash with “The Auld Enemy” on Wednesday night.
The want-away United striker has played a mere 45 minutes in pre-season, and major questions will be asked whether a player with so little game time should have been included.
Aside from “Wazza”, it’s a vital preparation game for Roy Hodgson ahead of FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month. He’ll also have a chance to blood 31-year-old striker Rickie Lambert, the Southampton star who scored 15 Premier League goals last season is yet to be capped for England.
Scotland, under new manager Gordon Strachan, have been going well of late, winning 1-0 in Croatia courtesy of a Robert Snodgrass strike. It’ll be a chance for the former Liverpool manager to try out certain players, with international debuts expected for Brighton and Hove Albion’s defender Gordon Greer and Dundee...

Liverpool are odds-on favourites for their opening game of the season against Stoke City.
During Pre-Season, Liverpool have won 6 games and have lost only once and scored 17 goals and conceding just two. Stewart Downing completed his move to West Ham early in the week for £5 million, ensuring that Liverpool must find a decent replacement. Liverpool are reportedly interested in Brazilian winger Willian, which would be a perfect addition to Liverpool’s top four hopes.
Stoke won three games out of their five, drawing once, and losing once. They scored four goals and conceding two. Stoke are interested in Mame Diouf, but were told to up their bid of £7 million, to £17 million.
Brendan Rodgers knows that nothing short of a top-four finish will do, especially as his side don’t have the demands of a European campaign after failing to qualify last season. Without the suspended and want-away Luis Suarez until late September,...

English football is currently in its most depressive state that it has been for a large numbers of years, following exit from the Euro 2012 championships at the hands of a far superior Italian side and our Youth teams further disappointing at their respective major competitions this year.
One of the major criticisms of the current England set up is that our players are lacking technical ability – passing, dribbling and ball control essentially. I disagree with this theory. In my opinion the reason that our national game has been poor in recent years is due to there not being a consistent system played across all age groups, from under 16s to the senior side. Many other successful nations have all of their national teams play the same system, by creating this system it means that any player would be perfectly competent when called up to the senior side as they would...

Liverpool have been one of the busier Premier League teams in this summer’s transfer market.
Already, Simon Mignolet, Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto have all joined Reds manager Brendan Rodgers’ Anfield revolution as the Merseysiders plot yet another seasonal pursuit of that ever-elusive Premier League title.
Having already improved his defensive line with the purchases of Mignolet from Sunderland and Toure from Manchester City, Rodgers is still keen to bolster his back four further by bringing in a new left-back.
Earlier this week, the Northern Irishman revealed he is keen to add to this area of his squad to provide cover for first-choice left-back Jose Enrique next season.

Luis Suarez was undoubtedly the best player for Liverpool last season, his 30 goals in all competitions kept Liverpool fans somewhat optimistic about the campaign. His antics which have given the bad press will sadly be remembered over his remarkable talent, a move away from the English media is something which he is looking to do with his next transfer. Arsenal have been linked with a £30 million move for Suarez but he is looking to move away so he can protect his family.
It will most likely be a move to Spain for Suarez with either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, ruling out a move to Napoli, As Monaco and Anzhi would be foolish as they have the money and good man managers at each club. This is what Suarez need to stay out of the public eye for reasons other than his brilliant footballing ability.

Liverpool kept the glimmer of European hope alive this weekend, coming out on top after a thrilling contest with Tottenham at Anfield.
The Reds, who moved up to 6th place after the win, lost the 1-0 lead given to them by Luis Suarez as surprise scorer Jan Vertonghen struck twice either side of half time from poorly dealt with set pieces.
But Tottenham undid their own hard work as they allowed Liverpool to score twice to win 3-2 after one of the most dramatic and entertaining games of the Premier League season.
It was Spurs’ first defeat in 13 league games, while Liverpool claimed their first victory against a side in the top 7 all season, and only their second against a member of the top 10.
Here we look at 5 factors that proved the biggest contributors to an important and memorable win for the reds.

It was Spurs’ first defeat in 13 league games, while Liverpool claimed their first victory against a side in the top 7 all season, and only their second against a member of the top 10.
Here we look at 5 factors that proved the biggest contributors to an important and memorable win for the reds.

Whichever way you look at it, Tottenham have been superb in recent months, unbeaten since November 17th and playing some of the best football in the country at present. Andre Villas-Boas has created an excellent team spirit at White Hart Lane, the players play for each other and, although the team is very much focused around Gareth Bale, everyone has an important role to play.
Liverpool on the other hand have been indifferent this season, they do look like a team in transition both in they way the play and through the inconsistency of their results; everytime they seem to turn a corner they always take two steps backwards again.
Liverpool can win this game, their football has been brilliant at times this season and if Brendan Rodgers sets his team up well they are more than capable of taming a rampant Tottenham side. So how can Liverpool win this game?...

It’s often been said about Steven Gerrard, given his penchant for dramatically decisive and crucially timed moments of magic, that the Liverpool captain is working to a script; that his moments of magic are so regular and wondrous that they could only be written by storytellers.
This was one script that got lost in translation.
As Liverpool-born Gerrard placed the ball on the penalty spot, where hordes of Liverpool players had previously fought to no avail in a crushing evening against West Bromwich Albion, Gerrard knew he had done this a thousand times before. In his garden as a child, on the training pitch as a man, and in some of Liverpool’s biggest games as a captain.
But this time, Gerrard was going to miss.
It was inevitable, really.
It was in the way Luis Suarez had bought the penalty from Jonas Olsson after fairly minor contact, and...

Ever since the Premier League began back in 1992, Liverpool have failed to continue the dominance they had in the years previous. Whilst other teams continued to beat Liverpool to the title, fans have been left wondering when they would win their first Premier League trophy and the long awaited 19th title.
The closest the side ever came to securing the Premier League title was when former manager Rafa Benitez, now Chelsea boss, managed the side to 2nd place in the 2008/2009 season. After being runners-up to Manchester United that year, Liverpool failed to make any real impact in the league and for too long their European football has been restricted to playing in the Europa League football instead of the prestigious Champions League.
With all this being said, Liverpool are on the rise once more. Whilst fan favorites Rafa Benitez and Kenny Dalgleish weren’t able to win the league, the...

Liverpool will be without January signings Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho for this first leg of the Europa League last-32 encounter with Zenit St Petersburg.
The duo are cup-tied having played in Europe for former clubs Chelsea and Inter Milan this season.
Manager Brendan Rodgers otherwise has no other notable absentees; Captain Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Jose Reina are all included in the provisional 20-man squad.
Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti will have also have a fully fit squad to pick from, with the Russian side recently coming through a series of friendlies unscathed.

Glen Johnson, the Boston Globe's star political reporter, is leaving the paper to become an adviser to incoming Secretary of State John Kerry. The former Associated Press reporter joined the Globe two years ago to become the political editor of its website, where he reported on local, state and national politics. Johnson was to the Globe's political coverage what statistics guru Nate Silver is to the New York Times' reports on political polling. Johnson rose to national fame during the 2008 Republican presidential primary after a video of him bluntly accusing then-candidate...
