Pete Davidson is walking away from his semi-autobiographical comedy series, “Bupkis.”
The Peacock show, which debuted in May 2023, was slated to go into production this summer for a second season. Davidson issued a press statement formally pulling the plug on the series entirely.
“I’ve always seen ‘Bupkis’ as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family,” Davidson said. “After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way. Of all the work I’ve ever done, ‘Bupkis’ is by far what I’m most proud of.”
He continued, “I am so grateful to Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video, Peacock, Universal Television, and the amazing cast and writers for helping me create something honest, funny, and heartfelt. I do also feel that this part of my life is finished. I...

Pete Davidson’s semi-autobiographical series Bupkis is ending its story early. Last year, Peacock announced that the show would return for an even bigger and even better second season. But the comedian has already outgrown it, announcing that he no longer plans to continue Bupkis beyond its eight-episode first season.
“I do also feel that this part of my life is finished,” Davidson shared in a statement via Variety. “I’m very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who...

Pete Davidson is laying his comedy series Bupkis to rest ahead of its planned second season. Davidson says while the semi-autobiographical comedy has been a great experience, it’s also an emotionally taxing show to bring to life on screens.
Davidson said about the sunsetting of Bupkis, “I’ve always seen Bupkis as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family. After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way,” Davidson told The Hollywood Reporter. “Of all the work I’ve ever done, Bupkis is by far what I’m most proud of. Pete Davidson is moving on. The comedian has decided not to proceed with a second season of his semi-autobiographical series Bupkis for Peacock.
The streamer renewed the series in June 2023, a month after its premiere. But Davidson said that he changed his mind because he feels “this part of my life is finished”.
It is the latest series to be renewed and then not move forward, although most decisions are reversed by the network or streamer.
Now it seems that fans [Spoiler Alert] will not find out how Davidson fared after his car crash at the end of season one.
The series also stars Edie Falco and Joe Pesci and comes from Universal Television and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video.
The first season had a large entourage of guest stars including Machine Gun Kelly, Steve Buscemi, Bobby Cannavale, Charlie Day, Al Gore, Paul Walter Hauser, Chase Sui Wonders and Ray Romano.

Peacock’s ordering more of Bupkis, giving the half-hour comedy series a season two order. The first season premiered on May 4, 2023 with the release of all eight episodes. Peacock didn’t confirm when fans can expect the just-announced second season to debut.
“Pete Davidson is a once-in-a-generation talent, and what he created with the first season of Bupkis absolutely blew us away,” stated Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “Pete has the rare ability to make you laugh out loud with his unfiltered brand of comedy, and then tear up with his raw and honest vulnerability. We could not be more proud to continue on this journey with Pete, Lorne Michaels, Broadway Video, and our partners at Universal Television for a second season as we continue to bolster Peacock’s comedy slate.

Pete Davidson slammed PETA after they criticized him for choosing to buy a new dog at a New York-based pet store instead of adopting one.
Not one to hold his tongue, after seeing the headlines, Davidson decided to call PETA’s Senior VP of Cruelty Investigations, Daphna Nachminovitch, himself and leave an expletive-filled voicemail.
After introducing himself, he said in the message, published by TMZ: “I just wanna let you know I’m severely allergic to dogs, so I have to get a specific breed.
“I’m only not allergic to cavapoos and those type of dogs.”

The premiere of Pete Davidson's new comedy Bupkis is masturbatory in two ways, and one severely undercuts the other. Though future episodes of the Peacock series take ambitious stylistic swings, the first one tells a straightforward story about Pete assessing his life as a directionless celebrity who lives at home with his mother. Written by Davidson with Judah Miller and Dave Sirus, it’s designed to cast a comic gauntlet, delivering one gross-out moment after another to announce the show will be giddily impolite as it explores what it’s like to be a famous, aimless dude. But the episode is also crafted to make us care about Pete as a person. Tucked inside the raunchy bits are frequent pleas to sympathize with the guy and care enough about him to follow eight episodes’ worth of his adventures.

Pete Davidson knows a thing or two about reputation preceding reality.
Since his “Saturday Night Live” debut in 2014, Davidson has carved a niche playing extensions or exaggerated versions of himself, whether it’s “The King of Staten Island,” “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” or the rom-com “Meet Cute.” “Bupkis,” the Peacock comedy created by Davidson, Judah Miller, and Dave Sirus, dials Pete Davidson — the idea, not the actual person — up to 1000, accepting him as an entity unto himself.
As that heightened version of himself, Pete lives in Staten Island with his mother (Edie Falco) and hangs out with his mostly good-for-nothing friends. His cantankerous grandfather (Joe Pesci) gives him a rude awakening in the premiere, telling his grandson to stop being so selfish and do something for someone else once in a while — with disastrous results.

Plot: A new comedy following Pete Davidson as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships.
Review: Love him or hate him, Pete Davidson is very popular these days. After his stint on Saturday Night Live, his semi-autobiographical Judd Apatow movie The King of Staten Island, as well as a string of high-profile relationships with everyone from Ariana Grande and Kate Beckinsale to Kim Kardashian and more, Davidson has used his fame and unique comedic style to develop a new Peacock series. Bupkis finds Pete Davidson playing the most challenging role of his career: himself. Taking a cue from Larry David’s HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bupkis is a showcase for Davidson’s sense of humor, and a huge cast of famous guest stars reenacting stories from his life exaggerated in such a way that you cannot tell what is true and what is fiction.

“Your life is fascinating,” a friend tells comedian Pete Davidson, in character as comedian Pete Davidson. “I don’t know what it’s like to live it, but goddamn, do we have fun watching it.”
It’s never a good sign when we have to be told, rather than shown, how interesting a person or project is meant to be. Yet that’s precisely the position in which “Bupkis” decides to put itself. The Peacock comedy is the second Davidson vehicle to draw heavily from the “Saturday Night Live” alum’s autobiography, after “The King of Staten Island” in 2020. In the style of director Judd Apatow, that feature film was already bloated; “Bupkis” takes the movie’s two-and-a-half-hour tale and stretches it out for another four, to diminishing returns.

The new Peacock series "Bupkis" is almost working overtime from the get-go to inure itself from any serious criticism. The title alone puts you in mind of something not worth expending much effort upon, but each of the eight episodes begins with a title card and accompanying voiceover essentially shielding co-creator, co-writer, and star Pete Davidson from any serious attacks, specifying that while the series may be inspired by fact, it is still very much a fictional product. "It's bupkis," is the closing sentence of the title card, and the tone of the narrator communicates a sense that none of this is worth getting worked up over. That title card ends up being a sign that expectations are best lowered when approaching the streaming series that presents a skewed version of the life of the very famous stand-up comedian/sketch performer, and also a sign that "Bupkis" is a scattershot,...

Premiering Thursday, the new Peacock series presents a fictionalized version of the comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” star’s life, from tragic roots to tabloid fodder to a grab bag of self-destructive tendencies, including an enthusiastic addiction to drugs and alcohol. He can seem like a snake eating its own tail as river-deep insecurities feed his comedy, the lifestyle of which sends him careening further out of control.
With “Bupkis,” created by Davidson, Judah Miller and Dave Sirus, he turns the trainwreck into a theme park ride of sorts, or perhaps a hall of cracked mirrors. If Fellini and Judd Apatow made a TV show together it might feel like “Bupkis.” There’s even a black-and-white episode, set in a rehab facility, where Pete’s...

What is it about Pete Davidson?
That’s the question that comes up every time the tabloids report on his dating life, every time we hear about Lorne Michaels taking him on vacation or Jeff Bezos promising to shoot him into space. It sometimes seems even to extend to his roles — like his signature Saturday Night Live character Chad, a totally unremarkable dude who nevertheless attracts attention and adoration everywhere he goes.
It’s a question that might find its way to your lips again as you scan the eye-watering list of cameos for Davidson’s new Peacock dramedy Bupkis — everyone from Machine Gun Kelly (of course) to Ray Romano (why not) to Al Gore (what?). Heck, it’s more or less the premise of Bupkis, created by Davidson (alongside Judah Miller and David Sirus) and starring Davidson as a fictionalized version of himself. Based on the season’s eight uneven episodes,...

So there's this guy called Pete Davidson — perhaps you've heard of him? You might be familiar with the fact that he's dated countless beautiful, talented women. Maybe you once read that he bought a decommissioned Staten Island ferry boat with "Saturday Night Live" co-star Colin Jost. Perhaps you've seen videos showcasing his openness about his struggles with substance abuse or his plethora of tattoos. But what often gets lost in the headlines highlighting his fascinating life is his work as an actor and comedian.
Davidson wrote, starred in, and executive produced "The King of Staten Island." He was a cast member on "SNL" for eight seasons. He's been in "Meet Cute," "The Suicide Squad," "Good Mourning," "Big Time Adolescence," "Bodies Bodies Bodies," and the upcoming "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts." But now, he's got a new semi-autobiographical series on the way called "Bupkis" for Peacock.

Pete Davidson is just as famous for his personal life as his acting career, so it’s only fitting that his first leading television role sees him playing himself. The upcoming Peacock comedy “Bupkis” stars Davidson as Davidson, parodying the surreal levels of fame he has achieved in recent years with the help of some A-list friends.
The show is similar to Davidson’s 2020 film “The King of Staten Island,” which was directed by Judd Apatow and saw the former “Saturday Night Live” cast member in a role heavily inspired by his own background. Unlike that film though, “Bupkis” sees Davidson explicitly play a fictionalized version of himself, juggling acting roles, antics in the celebrity world, tabloid rumors, and his relationships with his working class family from Staten Island.
The trailer features many nods to real life tabloid stories and rumors involving Davidson, including his sister complaining about speculation about the star’s penis size.

Peacock released the trailer for “Bupkis,” its new series starring Davidson and which is based on his life.

The trailer opens with quick clips of tabloid headlines about Davidson and with him saying, “I googled myself yesterday. People think I’m, like, a joke for some reason.”
But then fans immediately see Joe Pesci sitting across from Davidson in a diner, callously telling his on-screen grandson, “They think you’re a joke because you are a joke.”

In assembling its annual list of the 50+ men and women who matter most in comedy today, The Hollywood Reporter surveyed the top performers, writers, producers, showrunners and execs in the industry to get their read on how the business of making people laugh is evolving. Below, long-established superstars (e.g. Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, Kevin Hart), as well as some of this year’s breakouts (e.g. Kate Berlant and John Early, and the makers of smash hit half-hour The Bear) share their thoughts on the most played-out punchlines, offer their best ideas for getting comedies back in theaters, and assess what can safely be joked about these days. (For many, the answer on that last count remains: everything!) We also asked them to reveal more personal information, such as their secret sources of inspiration, and funniest mean thing ever said about them.

Pete Davidson is briefly stepping back from filming the semi-autobiographical Peacock series Bupkis after he allegedly suffered a “meltdown” in his trailer while shooting in New York City.
An anonymous source told The U.S. Sun that Davidson tossed several items around and he reportedly, “also threw coffee on the walls and folded a TV in half inside this trailer.”
The comedian is acting alongside Joe Pesci, who is playing his onscreen grandfather, for this sitcom series first greenlit by the NBC streamer back in April of this year.
Other cast members include Edie Falco, cast as his mother, Charlie Day, as well as sitcom veterans Ray Romano and Brad Garrett.

Living legend and Italian icon Joe Pesci has retired and un-retired numerous times, with his most recent venture back in the limelight positioning him as the grandfather of Pete Davidson in the new Lorne Michaels produced series, "Bupkis." The Academy Award-winning actor also joins Emmy Award-winner Edie Falco, who has been cast as Davidson's mom. I can already hear the sound of a family screaming across the house as a form of conversation rather than walking to the next room and speaking at a normal volume. Reminds me of home. "Bupkis" is a half-hour comedy series loosely based on Pete Davidson's life, with the comedian playing a heightened and fictionalized version of himself.
Davison is writing, starring, and executive producing the series, with Michaels executive producing for Broadway Video. Judah Miller serves as the showrunner and will be writing with Dave Sirus, who is also executive producing alongside Andrew Singer and Erin David.

Art continues to imitate life for Pete Davidson. The comedian and former "Saturday Night Live" cast member will soon star in a comedy series inspired by his life. On Oct. 14, Peacock confirmed to Popsugar that production is officially underway for "Bupkis," a half-hour comedy that will be a combination of storytelling with "absurd elements from the unfiltered and completely original worldview for which Pete is well known."
Peacock also shared a first-look photo of the series featuring Davidson and Academy Award-winner Joe Pesci, who will play Davidson's grandfather. Emmy Award-winner Edie Falco is set to star as Davidson's mom. This will be the second semi-autobiographical project for Davidson, who previously cowrote and starred in 2020's "The King of Staten Island," loosely informed by his family dynamic and mental health struggles.
