This is a special episode with Josh Larsen from FilmSpotting as a guest. He joins Aaron and Mark Hurne to discuss film from a religious perspective. We get into his book, Movies Are Prayers, and talk about one of his favorite films, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. We also talk about his background in film, and how he approaches the Criterion Collection.

One thing that’s easy for podcast fans to forget: There are people who don’t listen to podcasts. For the newly initiated, it’s hard to figure out where to look first. No fear: we’ve gathered a few of our favorite film-related shows. Some are hundreds of episodes deep into their runs, so we’ve also provided some good places to start. Enjoy.

Black List Table Reads
Scripted podcasts come in all kinds; sci-fi, alternate history, period piece, and superhero shows only beginning to crack the list. Franklin Leonard and the team behind the Black List Table Reads have found a way to combine the appeal of those shows with the script-based hook of the site that gives the show its name. Producing feature-length scripts with an impressive roster of actors, the show has evolved to become something more than...

Josh brought his Mousterpiece Cinema podcast to Sound on Sight this time last year, starting by reposting his older podcasts beginning with his very first podcast about Cars 2.
One of Ricky D‘s constructive criticisms for Josh on joining the site was that his best podcasts were the ones where he was joined by a guest like Gabriel Bucsko for their podcast on The Muppets film. Since Gabe actually works in Hollywood (an experience he discussed during the podcast on the cinematic atrocity Disney Animated classic Fox and the Hound 2) he is not regularly available to do the podcast. I volunteered to be a more regular co-host, taking the opportunity of Gabe being around to boycott films I had no interest in watching or re-watching like say the Disney Direct to Video Sequels, Midquels and Prequels, or films I couldn’t get my hands on, or allow me to...

Chicago – Fans of zombie comedy will soon get the chance to see two beloved blood-and-yuks classics at the largest outdoor theater in Illinois. On Thursday, May 17th, Wbez’s fourth annual “Off-Air Series” will present a “Drive-In Zombie Apocalypse Double Feature” pairing “Zombieland” with “Shaun of the Dead” at the Cascade Drive-In, 1100 E. North Ave., in West Chicago.
“Filmspotting” hosts Adam Kempenaar and Josh Larsen will fill hosting duties, while the first 100 cars through the gate are guaranteed to receive a “ghoulish giveaway.” The mixture of stylish gore and straight-faced satire perfected in both pictures is sure to dazzle audiences when viewed in a vintage venue evocative of grindhouse nostalgia.
Ruben Fleischer’s 2009 hit, “Zombieland,” is a sweetly observed coming-of-age romance punctuated by uproarious bursts of post-apocalyptic mayhem. Rising stars Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone are accompanied by Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin and the scene-stealing Bill Murray, whose...
