With the recent announcement of Monogatari ’s upcoming Off and Monster seasons, I’m sure many of you are wondering how exactly one’s supposed to hop aboard this intimidating franchise. Monogatari ’s tales of supernatural menace and psychological inquiry are diverse and fascinating, but the series has been adopted piecemeal over the years, stretched across a variety of seasons, films, and OVAs that don’t necessarily lend themselves to easy on-boarding. Aniplex officially posted the eight-minute TV commercial for the Kizumonogatari -Koyomi Vamp- anime film on YouTube today, following the film's premiere in Japanese theaters on January 12. The ad, which Aniplex claims is the longest Japanese TV commercial running at 480 seconds, can be found below. Kizumonogatari -Koyomi Vamp- takes the Kizumonogatari film trilogy — based on the novel by Nisioisin — and re-edits it into a single film. The staff from Shaft and the original Kizumonogatari films return for -Koyomi Vamp- including Tatsuya Oishi as director, Hideyuki Morioka as the character designer, Yota Tsuruoka as the sound director and Satoru Kosaki doing the music. The French musician Clémentine will compose the ending theme for the new movie. A North American release for the film was also announced for 2024. In yet another example of anime blending into the real world, to celebrate the release of the Kizumonogatari -Koyomi Vamp- anime film, a compilation re-edit of the three Kizumonogatari anime films, the film has taken over Shinjuku Sanchome Tokyo Metro station in a media blitz until January 15. For those with a keen eye and have seen the original three films, you might be able to tell that Shinjuku Sanchome Station was the inspiration behind the iconic scene where Araragi and Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade met for the very first time. Alongside the collaboration, the film also announced that French artist Clémentine will be returning to compose the ending theme song for the compilation film after previously working on the themes for the second and third outings.
