- Pete Brown (1935 - 2015) was a professional golfer who made history by becoming the first African-American golfer to win an officially sanctioned PGA Tour title, at the 1964 Waco Turner Open in Burneyville, Oklahoma. After finishing the first and second rounds with a pair of 71s, Brown moved into contention in the third round by shooting a 68 to trail the leader, Dudley Wysong, by one stroke.
