Fall 2017 is the current target for Project Cars 2, after developer Slightly Mad Studios revealed that the racing sim is coming “Septemberish.”
Word comes by way of the studio’s online forums (thanks, GameSpot), where CEO Ian Bell touched on the current release timeline, stating, “it’s still a very tight run as we’re a bit behind on Gui and Career so nothing is set in stone yet. Current guess is Septemberish.”
Touting a wealth of new features and the “largest track roster ever,” Project Cars 2 won’t skimp on the brands front either, after Bell noted that “none of the famous [car] brands are missing this time.” That means budding racers can look forward to authentic replicas of Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini, all of which were conspicuously absent from the original release.
Speaking of which, Slightly Mad’s follow-up will indeed adhere to the crowdfunding model, an announcement...

Barely a month since emerging onto the racetrack, Slightly Mad Studios’ über-realistic simulator Project Cars has screeched past 1 million sales across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Having launched on May 7, the studio’s kickstarter-funded project has certainly wasted no time getting going and is further proof that a delayed game is eventually good, whereas a rushed game is bad forever. Thanks, Miyamoto.
In tandem with the announcement, Slightly Mad’s Ian Bell opened up about the trailblazing success:
“Throughout development, the community were instrumental in guiding the game – giving us feedback daily on each build iteration, telling us what needed improving, highlighting what they’d like to see included, and ultimately approving it as the racing game of their dreams,” said Bell.
“Even with this amount of early indication, it wasn’t until the first review scores came in that we truly realized how much Project Cars had resonated with both media,...

Just yesterday, we brought you the news that Project Cars on Wii U was, unsurprisingly, spinning its wheels. With Slightly Mad Studios still unsure of a release window, the company admitted that it was considering uprooting all assets in order to release the racing simulator for Nintendo’s inevitably more powerful Nx hardware.
Given that The Big N is yet to unveil the console in question let alone specify a release window, those anticipating the title’s Wii U release were left understandably confused. Now, studio head Ian Bell has opened up in an interview with Nintendo Life in an attempt to set the record straight.
“It was always ‘maybe’ as we had no knowledge of the system,” Bell said. “It was again changed, by vote of the members, to a PC/Xbox One/PS4 next-gen game with still ‘maybe Wii U’ and Steam Os. The funding, as I said above,...

Ever since it was announce for Nintendo’s flagship home console, the Wii U version of Project Cars was anything but a sure thing. Having been hit by delays of its own during development, the port has been conspicuously absent from The Big N’s hardware. Now, it appears developer Slightly Mad Studios may pull the Wii U version of the über-realistic racer altogether and hold off until the release of the inevitably more powerful Nx.
That’s according to a post on Slightly Mad’s official forums, where the studio admitted that the processing power of the Wii U simply can’t handle Project Cars in optimal settings. Currently lagging behind at 23fps and 720p, Studio Boss Ian Bell revealed that one option that looks more and more likely is for the team to cut its losses and move all assets over to Nintendo’s as-yet-unreleased Nx console.

Do you remember Project Cars? Bandai Namco and Slightly Mad Studios announced this game last year and presented it as the newest departure from the endless cycle of Forza’s and Gran Turismo’s we’ve been getting the last few years. The title was originally set to launch in November of 2014 but has been hit with a few delays along the way, and it seems that the game is getting another push later into this year.
We’ll be seeing Project Cars launch in “mid-May” with no particular date determined and it is due in part to the "developers continued dedication to polishing up the game." But one does have to wonder if this is the last of the many delays we've seen Project Cars get hit with. The incredible looking racing game from Slightly Mad Studios and Namco has already been hit with a pair of delays, moving from it's 2014 release slot into March of this year. Now, the developers have announced that eager gamers are going to have to wait just a little longer.
I'm not a huge racing game fan, but I can't wait to get my hands on Project Cars. The game looks gorgeous and unlike anything else out there right now. It stunned back when it was first revealed a couple E3's ago, and has continued to impress. Sadly, I'll have to keep waiting for it, as the game has received another delay, albiet a small one. It was originally set to hit next month, but has been pushed to April 2nd...yeah, not that far, but still!

Slightly Mad Studios may have already postponed its Kickstarter-funded racer by a full five months, but today brings news that the studio has begrudgingly delayed Project Cars once again, meaning that the title is now slated for release on April 2nd and April 7th in Europe and North America, respectively.
Though fans will no doubt be disappointed by this announcement, the company made it explicitly clear that this was not a decision it took lightly. In a statement, Slightly Mad Studios’ head honcho Ian Bell attributed this most recent delay “to final adjustments [still to be made] in the game, that are required to provide to the fans with the best gaming experience they could have.”
Additionally, Bell also went on to describe how the extended development window will allow Project Cars to be the best racer it can possibly be, and not succumb to day-one issues that have become a common pitfall in the industry of late.

Publisher Bandai Namco has today confirmed that crowdfunded racer Project Cars has been delayed until 2015.
Previously, Slightly Mad Studios’ simulator was expected to release across current-gen consoles and PC on November 21st, while the Wii U version was pushed back to next year; however, as per this recent news, the title will now launch on March 20th, 2015.
In doing so, Bandai Namco hopes to avoid the myriad of racing sims due this holiday season, with The Crew, DriveClub and Forza Horizon 2 already making genre fans a little spoilt for choice. Speaking about the delay, Slightly Mad’s boss Ian Bell stated that postponing Project Cars until next year will help the company deliver on their initial promise.

England have had a difficult start to the current Ashes series with an embarrassing opening test defeat to Australia, followed by the news that Jonathan Trott has returned home due to a stress related illness. This all means that that Andy Flower’s men face a real challenge to retain the Ashes, as it can be difficult to recover from such early difficulties. However, sometimes problems can bring a team closer together and result in great recoveries.
So, for the purpose of this slideshow, I have put together a list of players that can make a real difference for England as they look to respond in the second test. Obviously, this will include trying to cover the loss of Trott in the battling attack.
So, let’s get started…
5. Ian Bell
As already mentioned, the key problem for England will be to find the right man to come in to bat at number three.

Alastair Cook lifts the urn as England celebrate their 3-0 series victory over Australia.
You may have been forgiven for thinking the fifth and final Test match at The Oval would be a damp squib, after all the outcome would not affect the series following Australia’s capitulation at Durham, although England were in search of an historic and unprecedented 4-0 Ashes series win.
This was not the case however. From England’s surprise decision to hand all-rounder Chris Woakes and left arm off-spinner Simon Kerrigan their debuts, to an outstanding knock from Shane Watson, this match delivered more than what most expected.
Australia won the toss on the first day and unsurprisingly batted first, with the aforementioned Watson in super touch scoring timely runs ahead of the return series down under which commences on the 21st November.

On the eve of this Ashes series the England selectors took the decision to drop Nick Compton and promote 22-year old Joe Root from the middle order to opener.
Compton had averaged 46.40 during the tour to New Zealand in March, but in the return series on home soil he managed just 39 runs in 4 innings with a highest score of just 16.
Root himself has opened for Yorkshire ever since he made his debut for the county back in 2009.
His first taste at the top of the order for his country was in England’s warm-up game at Chelmsford against Essex where he looked shaky at best, particularly against 20-year old fast bowler Tymal Mills, managing scores of 41 and 26.
I mentioned in a previous article that facing the new ball in International Cricket is a different proposition entirely to that at domestic level and frankly it showed.

Aus 527-7 dec & 172-7 dec v England 368 & 37-3
England retained the Ashes thanks to a Day 5 washout, drawing the Third Investec Test against Australia at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.
As the gloom drifted towards Old Trafford this morning, the inevitable result of a draw was all but sealed. You would be chastised for thinking any more optimistically, but up until last night, the rain clouds managed to stay away from Manchester. Australia happened to make great use of their time at the vastly changed ground, but it just wasn’t enough to snatch 10 England wickets in the tiniest of dry windows on the fifth day.
Australian captain Michael Clarke had the most perfect of positions just after Tea on Day 4, leading England by 300+ runs with nearly 4 sessions to bowl. With both Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle bowling superbly in the series so far, and with...

First Investec Ashes Test Match, Trent Bridge
England won by 14 runs
One of the best test matches in recent memory, images of Edgbaston in the 2005 Ashes came rushing back. Ebbing and flowing between each session, the spectators at Trent Bridge, Nottingham never really knew who had the upper hand. From Siddle’s opening bowling spell on Day 1 to Ashton Agar’s record breaking 98 on Day 2, it was at first Australia’s game to lose. Then Pietersen (64) and Ian Bell (109) counter attacked brilliantly, soaking up a lot of pressure to leave Australia 311 to win. When Anderson took the ninth wicket before lunch on the last day, it seemed an English victory was inevitable. But as Haddin batted superbly, relying on great support from Agar and Pattinson, the required runs kept getting lower and lower.
Australia looked like they were going to pull off the impossible. With 20 to win at lunch, English heads were faced downwards.

What a Test match! Shades of Edgbaston in 2005 were clearly evident for every player and supporter whether they were present in Nottingham or watching the drama of the last four and a half days unfold on their TV screens.
From questionable umpiring to an outstanding 98 from debutant Ashton Agar, to a phenomenal recovery spearheaded by Ian Bell to a ten-wicket haul from Jimmy Anderson. This match had it all.
I wrote on the eve of this Ashes Series that we shouldn’t overlook the Australians, that they were a side with much to prove and that they would pose a real examination of England’s credentials. If this Test Match is anything to go by then that most certainly will be the case.

The first three days of this Ashes series so far has produced some outstanding, at times unpredictable cricket and several momentum swingers. From Australia removing England for a measly 215 inside the first day, to a superb spell of bowling that saw Australia fall from 75-4 at the close of the first day’s play to 117-9 – trailing at that stage by 95 – to the incredible record breaking innings by debutant Ashton Agar who played brilliantly for his 98 batting at number 11 which helped Australia to 280 all out and a lead of 65.
England were wobbling too until Ian Bell and Stuart Broad (day three controversy aside when he should have been given out on 37 by umpire Aleem Dar) came to the crease hitting 109 and 65 respectively to guide England to 375 all out just before lunch on day four, setting Australia 311 to claim victory at Trent Bridge.

It is an important summer for both England and Australia. It always is when it comes to Cricket’s greatest rivalry – The Ashes. Australia enter the five match series on the firing line and with several doubts about their credentials both here and back home, while last month Cricket Australia took the drastic decision to fire coach Mickey Arthur cancelling his contract two years early, possibly as a direct consequence of the fact that the former South Africa coach had reportedly lost the dressing room.
This was brought to light most notably on the disastrous tour to India in March where four senior players including vice-captain Shane Watson were dropped for failing to do their ‘homework’. Refusal to carry out the most simplest of tasks suggests that the relationship had already eroded long before it became front page news, and that his departure on the 24th June was the point...

Lord’s, First Test (day one, close of play):England 160-4 vs New Zealand
England struggled to 160-4 on the first day of the international cricket summer at Lord’s. A combination of a cautious England batting unit, keen to put the away series in New Zealand behind them, and a slow pitch and outfield, led to an uneventful first day at the home of cricket.
Cook and Compton started off determined and cautious, looking to build a platform for the innings on a difficult pitch for batting. After reaching an opening stand of 43 off 22 overs, Compton was dismissed dancing down the wicket to a Bruce Martin delivery, and providing an easy catch to Tim Southee at point. Anyone who has watched Compton bat down the years, or saw him bat in New Zealand, will say the shot was out of character. However, I think Compton was trying to assert himself on Martin,...

With back to back Ashes series this year, it could be hard to forget that New Zealand will be gracing our shores this season. However, after England only just held the Kiwi’s to a 0-0 draw away from home earlier this year, Andy Flower will want his side to start the season strong against a side ranked six places lower than his England side. Here’s my preview of the first of many tests this summer for our national side.
After the disappointing away series in New Zealand at the start of 2013, Andy Flower will be hoping his side can put aside any doubts and whitewash a team who currently sit 8th in both the Test and Odi Rankings. When you consider that England sit 2nd in those two disciplines, the series shouldn’t pose any serious threat to the home side, but the series at the start of...
