Aubrey Plaza and Joe Wengert have set up the animated comedy series “Kevin” at Amazon’s Prime Video, Variety has learned.
Plaza and Wengert are co-writers and executive producers on the series, with Wengert also serving as showrunner. Dan Murphy will also executive produce. The series is produced by animation Titmouse, Plaza and Murphy’s Evil Hag Productions, and Amazon MGM Studios.
The official logline for the series states that it is about “a life-long housecat who decides that he doesn’t want to live with people anymore. Loosely inspired by a real break-up and the cat caught in the middle, Kevin dares to ask himself, “Is there a world where I don’t do the owner thing and am just… single for the rest of my life?”

Midway through the new season of Netflix’s animated comedy Big Mouth, middle schooler Matthew (Andrew Rannells) frets, “I don’t want to overstay my welcome like The Office after Steve Carell left.”
It’s the sort of meta humor which Big Mouth loves(*) only slightly less than it loves jokes about erections, orgasms, menstruation, sex with couch cushions, inappropriate fantasies, and every other indignity of early adolescence. It’s not hard to blame Matthew for worrying. This is the seventh season of Big Mouth, and even though there’s...

You can do whatever you want in the sewers," Animals co-creator Phil Matarese says. "When we're making episodes about rats, you can tell loose, crazy stories. You can tell a really fucked-up story about a rat hiding his boner from a girl, but it's mostly about this kid who just likes a girl a lot."
"The boner is his heart," executive producer Mark Duplass counters matter-of-factly.
"The boner is his heart," Matarese rejoins, laughing. "He's got a heart boner."

Sarah Chalke makes her regular return to TV with "How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life)" this week.
The "Scrubs" alumna completes her TV career 180 with the ABC comedy: Chalke, who played eldest Connor child Becky on "Roseanne," is now playing a TV mom.
"How To Live With Your Parents" follows Chalke's Polly, who's just recently divorced her irresponsible husband Julian (Jon Dore). Due to financial struggles, she and her five-year-old daughter Natalie (Rachel Eggleston) move in with her vulgar mom Elaine (Elizabeth Perkins) and uber-chill stepfather Max (Brad Garrett). But the uptight young mother's parenting ideals clash with Elaine and Max's improvisational and eccentric lifestyle. (As you've probably seen in previews, there is underwear in lunchboxes and coffee at bedtime when Natalie is under Elaine and Max's rule -- or lack thereof.)
Below, Chalke opens up to The Huffington Post about her return to TV,...

Comedian Joe Wengert was a nerdy kid who had little in common with his young, rowdy father except for a shared interest in music. So, when the Spin Doctors came to town — this after their "Two Princes" era, mind you — Wenger Sr. decided that attending the concert together would be the perfect bonding experience. And once the concert got going, he decided they could further connect with a little father-son vandalism. The ending to this installment of Vulture and Ucb's "Pop Culture Memory Lane" series is far more touching than you'd expect from a tale involving the "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" bunch, so make sure to check it out.

South By Southwest (SXSW) has officially announced the lineup for SXSW Comedy, which will take place from March 10 - 17 in Austin, Texas. The festival's comedy programming has grown considerably since last year, with showcases, live podcast tapings and interactive shows stretching continuously throughout SXSW for the first time. The festival has announced 62 comedians scheduled to appear, nearly doubling last year's roster of performers.
Although SXSW is known for its music, film, and more recently, interactive portions of the festival, the comedy programming looks designed to delight both devoted comedy fans as well as casual observers. In fact, five of the comedians who landed on HuffPost Comedy's favorite comedy albums of 2011 list will be performing at the festival.
Part of the fun of SXSW Comedy is not knowing which performers will show up at which shows, although a full list of confirmed comedians has been released (and can be found in...

On September 14, teachers from improv training centers iOWest, The Second City, The Groundlings, and Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles gathered to discuss all things improvisation in a Back Stage at the SAG Foundation panel event. Topics discussed included the different schools of thought on teaching improv, how improv class can help actors, how to find the school for you, and how the web has changed comedy."[The Internet] is such a great platform for comedy," said The Second City's Josh Funk. "It's the future for all of our theatres to find a place online."It was one of the friendliest nights Back Stage at the SAG Foundation has seen. The teachers were really complimentary and supportive of each other. It was obvious there was a mutual admiration among them."I think the improv community in general here in L.A. is pretty welcoming to everybody," said Ucb's Joe Wengert. "If you're here.

Upright Citizens Brigade was already well-established in New York City when the company opened a theater on Franklin Avenue in Los Angeles in 2005. The new location quickly established itself as a great place to see improv and sketch every night of the week at extremely reasonable rates—admission is never more than $8. And before long, the Ucb Training Center also became a popular place for comedy students. The center offers different levels of core classes in improv and in sketch writing, along with specialized classes such as writing a one-person show and writing in the style of "Saturday Night Live." Courses typically consist of eight three-hour classes and run about $350–$375 per level. Says reader Jason Bowers, "Unlike the oversized and sometimes ridiculous characters that the Groundlings encourage, Ucb teaches playing situations for the reality at hand, and the Ucb style of improv is very conducive to writing."Joe Wengert,...
