A new episode of the Revisited video series has just arrived online, and in this one we’re looking back at a movie that was just released last year, writer/director Joe Begos‘s holiday horror film Christmas Bloody Christmas – which got an 8/10 review from our own JimmyO that you can read Here and is available to watch on the Shudder streaming service. To find out what we had to say about Christmas Bloody Christmas one year after its release, check out the video embedded above!
Christmas Bloody Christmas has the following synopsis: It’s Christmas Eve and fiery record store owner Tori Tooms just wants to get drunk and party, until the robotic Santa Claus at a nearby toy store goes haywire and makes her night more than a little complicated. Santa Claus begins a rampant killing spree through the neon-drenched snowscape against a backdrop of drugs, sex, metal and violence,...

It’s that time year again—when one might, upon their daily neighborhood perambulation, casually stumble upon a man dressed in a blood-splattered full-body jumpsuit and think to themself, this is perfectly fine and normal. But that’s the Halloween season for you, when the ghosts and goblins and AMC-obsessed Nicole Kidmans are out in full force for their yearly Halloween rituals.
Aside from meticulously inserting razor blades into the apples we all intend to hand out to local children, everyone’s favorite part of the Halloween season is—of course—the excuse to binge-watch our favorite horror movies, from the silly-scary (Hocus Pocus), to the fun-scary (Trick R Treat), to the scary-scary (The Evil Dead) or the really scary-scary (any news channel). In fact, horror movies have long been an integral part of the indie film ecosystem—turning minuscule budgets into huge box office numbers and launching the...

Writer/director Joe Begos‘s holiday horror film Christmas Bloody Christmas – which got an 8/10 review from our own JimmyO that you can read Here – is now playing in theatres, and is also available to watch on the Shudder streaming service. And if the movie does well, Begos is hoping to have the chance to make two sequels back-to-back! The filmmaker revealed his sequel hopes during an interview with Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew podcast.

While Violent Night is lighting the box office on fire, there’s another film featuring a Santa with a bit of bloodlust: Christmas Bloody Christmas. Thankfully this Santa is much less friendly and a lot more homicidal. I was fortunate enough to talk with the writer/director, Joe Begos, and pick his brain on this wonderful little title. He talks about how it started as a Silent Night, Deadly Night remake, only to evolve into a killer robot Santa film. This is probably my favorite conversation yet, so don’t miss it!

Andrew Patterson’s retro sci-fi thriller “The Vast of Night” has the look and feel of a restored 1950s Cadillac. There are certain aspects that appear new, but your first impression of the car is of its original time and era, a place that seems both modern yet quaintly of the past. From the moment the opening shot closes in on an old TV set playing an episode of “Paradox Theater,” a riff on old “Twilight Zone” and “The Outer Limits” shows, we’re placed in the front seat of a story that feels both old and new, familiar yet different.
Once the camera bypasses the old faded black-and-white TV set, it fades in on an evening in the small town of Cayuga, New Mexico. Everett (Jake Horowitz), a smooth-talking radio DJ, arrives at a busy basketball game where most of the locals are gathering. He’s joined by Fay...
