Several of the women who have accused disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment have shared eerily similar stories of sinister meetings in hotel rooms, where they were greeted at the door by a bathrobe-clad Weinstein. It’s a story that sounds all too familiar to People writer Natasha Stoynoff.
In a new op-ed for USA Today, Stoynoff recalls enduring a similar hotel-room attack as a college student — at the hands of an Oscar-nominated actor and “predator nearly twice her age.”
In her essay, Stoynoff — who last year accused then-candidate Donald Trump of pushing her against a wall and...

An Austin-area woman said Ain’t It Cool News founder Harry Knowles sexually assaulted her at an Alamo Drafthouse event — but the reason she’s speaking out now is she believes change is coming.
“Harry Knowles groped me, opportunistically, on more than one occasion,” said Jasmine Baker. “I cannot just stay silent. I am not interested in remaining silent.”
In 1999-2000, Baker was familiar with Knowles and his website, as they often attended the same Drafthouse events. Baker was at a Drafthouse event when Knowles rubbed up against her buttocks and legs in a way that made her feel uncomfortable. While she was initially willing to consider it an accident, on a later occasion he rubbed up against her again; she confronted him about his behavior, and made it clear that...

When Fantastic Fest kicks off today in Austin, it will open without at least one long-time supporter: the influential fan site Ain’t It Cool News has been dropped as a sponsor, and founder Harry Knowles will not be attending the festival. The move is the latest development in the still-unfurling Alamo Drafthouse controversy surrounding the re-hiring of former Birth.Movies.Death editor-in-chief Devin Faraci after he was accused of sexual assault last year.
Knowles confirmed the decision in a phone call with IndieWire today, adding that it seemed like the right thing to do, adding that Fantastic Fest co-founder Tim League would be sitting out the festival as well.
“I’m minding the store this time,” he said, noting that the site would have writers covering the festival. “I’ll be able to get stories up on time — silver linings, you know?”

Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League posted an apology on his Facebook page Friday evening, his latest statement after days of controversy swirling around the Austin-based theater chain. The response stemmed from a firestorm of anger following the revelation that League had secretly employed Devin Faraci for several months this year. Faraci was fired as editor of Alamo’s Birth.Movies.Death site last October after accusations of sexual assault, but was employed again as recently as February.

I am very sorry.
I’ve let so many of you down.
Over the past few days, I’ve realized that decisions I have made over these past months have been problematic.

Todd Brown tendered his resignation as Fantastic Fest’s international programmer, one week before the festival’s 13th edition, and his reasons are damning. His decision came after he (along with the public and other members of the film community) discovered that, months ago, Alamo founder Tim League secretly rehired Devin Faraci. The former editor in chief of the Drafthouse’s film site, Birth.Movies.Death, Faraci resigned last October following allegations of sexual assault — allegations that Faraci did not deny.
Brown, who spent a decade as a Fantastic Fest programmer, said the decision was “emotionally difficult by the sad fact that it was not difficult at all. It was essential… While I do not believe there was any malice in the decision to bring Faraci back there was, however, a clear, undeniable and arguably even callous disregard for the impact of this decision on anyone not named Devin Faraci.

"I think we’re fine in terms of the amount of women who are behind the camera, in front of the camera," a clearly defensive Les Moonves said this morning about the number of female leads in CBS’ newly announced schedule. “More women watch CBS percentage-wise than any other network, so our shows have a lot of female appeal,” he added, finding cover and strength in viewership. There aren’t a great many artists big enough to help the top grossing nightclub in the world celebrate its seventh anniversary. Hip-hop and bass music icon Diplo fits the bill, though, and he’s uploaded his two-and-a-half-hour set from the March 21st celebration to his SoundCloud account for everyone who wasn’t able to attend.
Before going in, though, it’s worth noting that this was one of Diplo’s more mainstream-friendly performances. That said, Diplo‘s DJ set at Xs Las Vegas’ 7th anniversary celebration certainly still had its gems. He was nice enough to scrawl out a tracklist as well, so if you hear something you like then find it by...

Kevin Spacey is set to join Ansel Elgort and Taron Egerton in James Cox's film adaptation of "Billionaires Boys Club".
The story story deals with how financial genius Joe Hunt (Elgort) and tennis pro Dean Karny (Egerton) ran a Ponzi scheme which allowed them to lead a lavish lifestyle.
The scheme collapsed when the investment of high-roller Ron Levin (Spacey) turned out to be worthless and Hunt was convicted of killing Levin. Judd Nelson, Ron Silver and Brian McNamara took on the roles in a previous 1987 mini-series version.
James Cox ("Wonderland") is directing from a script he co-wrote with Captain Mauzner. Holly Wiersma and Cassian Elwes are producing.

The house don, Duke Dumont, has just blasted the world with Blasé Boys Club Pt. 1, and damn is it good…
He’s bottled up the 80’s evocative synths and emotionally charged vocals to an absolute T, making this a standout Ep for 2015. But what else would you expect from the Duke? Amongst the four song Ep are some insane dance tracks, but the standout is certainly “Robert Talking.”
Doubtless inspired by Daft Punk’s homage to Giorgio Moroder, “Robert Talking” features the soothing words of legendary Chicago house vocalist Robert Owens. It’s a seven minute recount of early Chi-town’s house scene set to some gloriously funky guitar. This format of packaging infectious dance with a bit of history is proving to be more than pleasant, and I won’t be the least bit surprised to see this track penetrating disco sets around the world.

Can UK producer Duke Dumont be stopped? The man has not put out a bad track yet, delivering hit after hit with songs like “Need U 100%,” “I Got U,” “The Giver (Reprise)” and “Won’t Look Back.” Now, he’s struck gold once again with his newest piece of music, titled “Ocean Drive.”
Set to appear on Dumont’s Blasé Boys Club Ep series, the first part of which drops on October 2nd, this new track fits comfortably into his wheelhouse, sporting a chilled, deep house vibe with just enough groove to get you moving. It’s got a very retro feel to it as well, transporting us back to the 80s with its dark synths and glitchy pop notes.
All in all, “Ocean Drive” is another impressive release from Duke Dumont and one that cements him firmly as one of the most exciting producers in Edm at the moment.

Newcastle have a rich history of cultivating local talent through the ranks via the bristling production line that ran from the legendary Wallsend Boys Club to St James’ Park and unearthing potential stars thanks to the sharp judgement of an extensive scouting network.
While the names of Lee Clark, Tim Krul, Chris Waddle, Steven Taylor, Steve Watson and the two lads above, Peter Beardsley and Paul Gascoigne, are just some of our celebrated success stories that have prospered in black and white, inevitably, we’ve experienced the anguish of seeing more than few gifted youngsters slip through the net.
We aren’t alone though as every club has suffered the loss of a unpolished diamond at some point in their history whether it be through sheer ignorance or a colossal scouting blunder. It’s a small crumb of comfort but one that does little alleviate the torment.

Raised in an era of gorgeous magazine illustration, he found inspiration in the works of Charles Dana Gibson, Arthur Petty, Al Dorne, and John Gannon among others. He continued his studies at the School of Industrial Art where he met and befriended Al Plastino.
In 1937, he went to work for an ad agency but two years later joined the Eisner/Iger Studio and drew stories for a variety of publications, notably Quality Comics.

Football is a game of currency: not just in terms of the money that changes hands for players and for TV rights, but also of the effect it has on fans. Excitement, apprehension, that tingly feeling on the back of your neck and of course, the unmistakable feeling that your club’s new foreign number ten is going to make all the difference to your beloved team.
Both types of currency are deeply invested in that final idea most of all – impact of a player is inevitably always compared with their real cost to the club – their emotional impact on fans and the real impact on the pitch judged against the amount of pounds it cost to secure their services. Inevitably, with the global expansion of the game, and the access given to other leagues and their foreign stars, as well as the relative inexpense of buying from abroad, rather than at home,...

It's crazy to read a book like Yael Kohen's We Killed and know that people still make statements like "Women aren't funny." The newly released oral history of women in comedy over the last 50 years is a reminder that not only are women hilarious, but they are smart, persistent and unwilling to back down when faced with the sexism and adversity they've been dealt whether it's been in comedy clubs, writing rooms or late night TV shows.
Comedy is not just entertainment: It has the power to enlighten and educate, no matter how subtle it might be presented. What you'll get from We Killed is a sense of how progressive women have proven to be, from the pioneers like Phyllis Diller and Elaine May to the alternative comics of the '90s like Janeane Garofalo up through today's boundary-smashing Sarah Silverman, for whom no topic is untouchable.

Sioux Falls, S.D. — To all the girls and boys, makin' all that noise: Alice Cooper has found you some new toys.
The heavy metal icon was in South Dakota on Wednesday to help kick-off a 6,000-square-foot rock `n' roll academy for local Boys & Girls Club members. Complete with a recording studio and performance space, the center will offer lessons and have all kinds of loud stuff – including a few high-end drum sets from Warrant guitarist Joey Allen and guitars from members of Kiss.
Cooper opened his long-dreamed Rock Teen Center in Phoenix last week, and he said he wanted to help his friend Chuck Brennan offer a similar opportunity in Brennan's hometown of Sioux Falls. Brennan, who founded Dollar Loan Center, grew up down the street from the academy and was a Boys Club kid.

Prolific actor who built a 60-year career in the Us and Europe
Few screen debuts have equalled the searing malevolence of Ben Gazzara's Iago-inspired Jocko De Paris in The Strange One (1957). The role, which he had created on stage, became forever associated with this intense graduate of New York's method school of acting.
Gazzara, who has died aged 81 of pancreatic cancer, continued his stage career in modern classics including Epitaph for George Dillon and as the humiliated and vengeful George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1976). He also achieved popular acclaim through television series – notably Run for Your Life (1965-68) – and in movies for his friend John Cassavetes and other directors including Otto Preminger, Peter Bogdanovich, David Mamet, Todd Solondz and the Coen brothers.

Ben Gazzara, the character acting stalwart and stage star, has died at the age of 81.He was born in New York in 1930, and caught the acting bug at the age of 11 when he saw a friend perform in a play at the Madison Square Boys Club. He joined up and began working, eventually finding his way to the Dramatic Workshop. He auditioned for Lee Strasberg’s famed Actors Studio, which helped shape his career alongside such notable fellow actors as Marlon Brando and Rod Steiger. His big screen career included a wide variety of movies, including The Big Lebowski, Dogville, Inchon, The Spanish Prisoner and Todd Solondz’ Happiness. His fluent Italian helped him land roles in Italy, and he traded time between working in the Us and overseas. Above all, however, he was best known in cinematic circles for his work with John Cassavetes, for whom he acted in the...

New York — Ben Gazzara, whose powerful dramatic performances brought an intensity to a variety of roles and made him a memorable presence in such iconic productions over the decades as the original "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" on Broadway and the film "The Big Lebowski," has died at age 81.
Longtime family friend Suzanne Mados said Gazzara died Friday in Manhattan. Mados, who owned the Wyndham Hotel, where celebrities such as Peter Falk and Martin Sheen stayed, said he died after being placed in hospice care for cancer. She and her husband helped marry Gazzara and his wife, German-born Elke Krivat, at their hotel.
Gazzara was a proponent of method acting, in which the performer attempts to take on the thoughts and emotions of the character he's playing, and it helped him achieve stardom early in his career with two stirring Broadway performances.
In 1955, he originated the role of Brick Pollitt,...

This week the Screen Producers Association of Australia presented its list of seven projects that it will be putting in the shop window at its conference. But the SPAAmart list omitted the names of the script writers. A member of the Australian Writers Guild offers this alternative version of events.
Trouble is brewing over this year’s Spaa conference, with the scripts selected for the feature film shop window staging a sit-in at Spaa head office.
Wake Up Dead, a particularly fat script, blocked the door of the Spaa lunchroom just before lunch yesterday while other scripts phoned media outlets with a list of demands.
Sci-fi thriller The Room was clearly angry, “I mean, we all wrote ourselves, didn’t we? You saw the Spaa press release last week. We’ve got producers. We’ve got directors. But we don’t get a look in. Look at us; we’re all great ideas.

Rapper Bun B has threatened to sue the designers behind a line of T-shirts bearing his likeness and that of his late Ugk bandmate Pimp C.
The hip-hop star was alerted to the merchandise via a fan on Twitter.com, who sent Bun B a link to the black and white top bearing the images of the Ugk pals next to the words "Trillionaire Boys Club", making use of the slang made famous by the Texas duo.
But Bun B had no idea his face was being used to sell the clothing range and he's vowed to take legal action against the manufacturers.
After viewing the link, he wrote on his Twitter page, "Unless there's a contract with me/estate (of Pimp C), you're looking at a lawsuit." Pimp C died in December 2007.

According to Deadline, Michael Bay and the boys in the “Transformers” Boys Club (sorry, ladies, no girls allowed) have made it official: barring some unforeseen catastrophe, like the end of the world by way of meteorite or, God forbid, alien invasion, British Victoria’s Secret supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will be Megan Fox’s eye candy replacement in “Transformers 3″. Previously, the choices were down to Whiteley and American models Brooklyn Decker and Sarah Wright, with Wright being the only one with any filmography worth bragging about. Word is that Bay is looking to help an unknown face break out, and Whiteley fits that bill. You wouldn’t know who she was unless you spent any amount of time trolling the Internet by typing in “sexy Victoria’s Secret supermodels” into Google, a pastime that I have, on occasion, been known to indulge in. Purely for research purposes, you understand. Whiteley...
