One of the GOP’s most vulnerable incumbent lawmakers, Don Bacon, is feeling the heat on abortion.
In recent days, the Republican congressman from Nebraska quietly deleted the section on his campaign website touting a promise that he “will always fight to defend the right to life.”
The section that disappeared from the site also enumerated Bacon’s perfect ratings from the anti-abortion organizations like the Susan B. Anthony List, National Right to Life, and the Faith and Freedom Coalition, as well as an endorsement from the Nebraska Family Alliance.

Nine months have gone by since Lionsgate announced that they were moving forward with a Leprechaun “reimagining” that had Felipe Vargas, director of the award-winning short film Milk Teeth, on board to direct. During a new interview with Splattercast, Vargas confirmed that the reimagining is still in development, and that he’s hoping to do something gory, sexy, crazy, and elevated with this property.
Vargas told Splattercast (with thanks to our friends at Bloody Disgusting for the transcription), “I’m so honored to be on that project. It’s such a cool franchise. To me what makes the franchise so special is that it really is limitless. It doesn’t need to be grounded. It can just be gory, sexy, crazy.” He said that they’re still figuring out the tone for this movie and what the balance of horror and comedy will be. “I would love for it to...

Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis and the rest of the Republican field of presidential candidates aren’t the only ones who have something riding on the GOP’s next primary debate.
The event will be telecast Wednesday between 8 and 10 p.m. eastern from the University of Alabama by the upstart cable-news outlet NewsNation, and has the potential to affect more than just votes and donations.
Nexstar Media, the network’s corporate owner, hopes the special broadcast will woo new viewers to its recently assembled collection of media outlets, which also includes the CW. Megyn Kelly, the one-time Fox News firebrand who will be co-moderating the debate with NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas and Eliana Johnson of The Washington Free Beacon , will get a new crack at exposure to mainstream news audiences. And the Republican National Committee, which has placed the bulk of its primary events on outlets owned by Fox Corp., is...

Sorry ABC, CBS and CNN, there’s a new player in the political primary debate fray.
NewsNation, the upstart cable news channel owned by local TV giant Nexstar, will host the fourth Republican primary debate next month.
The debate, which will also air on the Nexstar-owned CW network, will be moderated by NewsNation anchor Elizabeth Vargas, as well as SiriusXM host (and former Fox News primetime star) Megyn Kelly, as well as The Washington Free Beacon’s Eliana Johnson.
The debate will be held Dec. 6 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and will also stream on NewsNation’s website, the conservative video platform Rumble, and on SiriusXM.
The debate is a coup for Nexstar, which has been trying to grow NewsNation as an “unbiased” alternative to the other cable news channels. It’s also a big win for Vargas, the former ABC News anchor who joined NewsNation earlier this year, and for Kelly,...

The following text is an excerpt from the sixth volume of the Viennale's ongoing Textur series, each of which is devoted to the atmospheric craft of a single filmmaker. Textur #6 focuses on the films of Lisandro Alonso; its publication coincides with the Viennale's presentation of his new film Eureka, as well as a festival masterclass. In the excerpt below, the American experimental filmmaker Deborah Stratman explores the sonic palettes and "fugue states of repetition" in Alonso's 2004 film, Los muertos.Los muertos.Besides Queen of Diamonds (1991), Nina Menkes’ sublimely tedious reverie of capital and misogyny, Lisandro Alonso’s 2004 feature Los muertos might be the most transactional film I’ve seen. In each, the largely speechless, impassive protagonists inhabit landscapes from which they, and thereby we, have been dispossessed. The casino tables of Menkes’ blackjack-dealing Firdaus (Tinka Menkes) and the prison yards of Alonso’s inmate Vargas (Argentino Vargas) suspend...

What. An. Hour.
The chips are falling into place now, and we are circling the end of this wild and alluring season. With the deck stacked against Tommy, from enemies he can see and enemies he's not even aware of, you can't even begin to predict how things will end up.
But if that closing frame of Power Book IV: Force Season 2 Episode 8 was any indication, he's never felt more alive.
This was a very messy installment from start to finish.
And there's no easy place to jump in, but it's probably best to start at the top with Vic doing his damndest to cover his tracks.
Vic has been flying by the seat of his pants since he became a snitch, and he stepped in it when he killed Vargas. He may not have had a choice, but it put an even larger target on his back as far as Stacy was concerned.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Lionsgate has given the greenlight to a new film in the Leprechaun franchise – but it doesn’t sound like this one will see Warwick Davis reprising his iconic role, nor will it be a follow-up to Leprechaun Returns, where Linden Porco played the title character. Instead, the project is being described as a “reimagining”, with Felipe Vargas, director of the award-winning short film Milk Teeth, on board to direct.
Mike Van Waes, who wrote the novel Peeves and has worked on the upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, has written the screenplay for the new Leprechaun. Plot details are being kept under wraps.
