When “My Dead Friend Zoe” filmmaker Kyle Hausmann-Stokes set out to adapt his own experiences as an Army vet onto the big screen, he made two very big changes: gender-flipping the main characters and two women of color in the roles.
Starring Sonequa Martin-Green and Natalie Morales, “My Dead Friend Zoe” is a dark dramedy that follows Merit (Martin-Green), a U.S. Army Afghanistan veteran who is at odds with her family thanks to the presence of Zoe (Morales), her dead best friend from the Army.
Director Hausmann-Stokes co-wrote the film with Aj Bermudez inspired by Hausmann-Stokes’s time serving five years in the Army as a paratrooper, during which he received the Bronze Star in Iraq, and the death of his good friend and platoon mate. “My Dead Friend Zoe” marks Hausmann-Stokes’s feature film debut after attending USC film school.

The addition of Mitchell to the Chicago Med cast comes after several high-profile exits in season 8, including the departures of Brian Tee, who played Dr. Ethan Choi, and Nick Gehlfuss, who played Dr. Will Halstead. Both had been with the show since its first season.

“Fatal Attraction” production designer Nina Ruscio’s visual challenge was taking on an iconic movie, paying homage to it and finding a way to put her creative stamp on it by taking it into 2023.
In the eight-part Paramount+ series, Joshua Jackson stars as Dan Gallagher with Lizzy Caplan as Alex Forrest, roles originated by Michael Douglas and Glenn Close in the original film. And while it’s not a remake, the creative team stressed, it’s an expanded adaptation that provides more insight into Alex’s behavior after an affair with a married man drives her to obsession. The series covers Alex’s struggles with her mental health, but it’s also an erotic thriller.
To tap into Ruscio’s behavior and show her state of mind, Ruscio paid close attention to Alex’s apartment. In contrast, Dan’s world was rooted in the courtroom.

Jensen Ackles and Katheryn Winnick in ‘Big Sky’ season 3 episode 1 (ABC/Michael Moriatis)
A hiker’s threatened by a creepy stranger and falls to his death in the first few minutes of ABC’s Big Sky season three episode one. Plus, it’s disclosed Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) broke up with Mark, and he and Jerrie are off hunting the cartel. (Cassie says what we all think – Mark and Jerrie are good together.) And Jenny (Katheryn Winnick), Cassie, and Denise (Dedee Pfeiffer) all agree Beau really fills out his jeans – all before the opening credits roll.
We also quickly learn the detective agency’s main case this season will be figuring out what happened to the missing hiker.
Beau (Jensen Ackles) scores major points by complimenting Denise’s veggie lasagna. Cassie notes Denise – who she calls Mrs. Robinson – has never cooked lasagna for her as Jenny and Beau head off to work.

Nathan Dean as Max Evans and Jeanine Mason as Liz Ortecho in ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 4 episode 13
The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico season four episode 13 serves as both the season and series finale. Picking up seconds after the end of episode 12, “How It’s Going to Be“ begins with Clyde easily stopping Isobel and Max’s attack. Rosa (Amber Midthunder) concentrates on tuning in on Clyde’s frequency and manages to free herself from his restraint.
Rosa surprises Clyde by smashing him over the head with a board, which gives Max (Nathan Dean) time to prepare to use the blue flame. Unfortunately, Clyde also uses the flame and knocks everyone over before kidnapping Rosa and escaping in a car.
The #PodSquad discuss their next move and Bonnie suggests they need to destroy the portal before Clyde can use it. Michael (Michael Vlamis) thinks they should hold off on that drastic move and Max agrees.

Robert Redford, an überfan of Tony Hillerman’s iconic crime novels featuring Navajo Tribal police officers Lt. Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, teams with fellow executive producer George R.R. Martin and a predominantly Native American writers’ room and cast for Dark Winds, his most ambitious Hillerman adaptation yet. (Credit: Michael Moriatis/Stalwart Productions/AMC) Based primarily on Listening Woman, the twisty psychological thriller opens in 1971 with two violent crimes: a bank heist in Gallup, New Mexico, and a double murder on the nearby reservation. Investigating both are seasoned Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and instinctual Sgt. Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten), joined by prickly Chee (Kiowa Gordon), a new recruit with a secret agenda. Expect condescension and interference from FBI supervisor Whitover (The Americans’ Noah Emmerich) as the cases inevitably intertwine. Though it appears “the bank robbery is a ‘white crime,’ and the other an ‘Indian crime,’” warns EP and director Chris Eyre,...

Chef, restaurateur and entrepreneur Guy Fieri has a self-titled hit Food Network series (“Guy’s Ranch Kitchen”) in production, but it’s far from the only thing he’s looking forward to this year.
On May 22 the shock-haired celeb chef — only the third in his field behind Wolfgang Puck and Bobby Flay — will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
“I couldn’t have dreamed this big. This is out of the stratosphere of dreaming,” says the Emmy-nominated producer and star of such shows as “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” “Guy’s Grocery Games” and “Guy’s Big Project.”
Fieri has been a Food Network staple since his 2006 win on “Food Network Star.” His series “Guy’s Big Bite” premiered that year, and was followed by “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” — a potent combination of road tripping and eating — in 2007. That regular, blue-collar dude that people immediately wanted to talk to,...

Halt and Catch Fire, AMC’s smart, slick series about the fledgling computer industry of the 1980s, is California dreamin’. Joe, Cameron, Gordon, and Donna have all left Texas’ Silicon Prairie for Silicon Valley. “It gets out of the garage very quickly and we’re in the big leagues now,” series star Lee Pace tells HitFix of Halt’s new season debuting later this month. Halt and Catch Fire (which takes its name from an early computer command) started off with salesman/visionary Joe MacMillan’s race to compete with Ibm’s personal computer. Season 2 shifted its focus to online gaming. Now Halt and Catch Fire is going into its third season, which is longer than either of Pace’s previous television shows lasted. His team-ups with Bryan Fuller, Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls, were canceled before their time, in the former case cutting short Pace’s endearing, Emmy-nominated role as the pie-maker Ned.
