Exclusive: Curate Management founder Britton Rizzio has promoted TV and film literary manager Courtney Conwell to partner, Deadline has learned.
Rizzio formed Curate in November to provide a hands-on and global approach to representation and saw a coveted roster of clients align with the new venture, one of the few female-owned literary management firms in Hollywood.
“I’m thrilled to be able to elevate Courtney and have always seen her as a leader. She’s forward-thinking, doesn’t settle for status quo, and is a fierce protector of her clients’ voices,” Rizzio tells Deadline. “Curate represents innovative and ground-breaking thinkers, my goal is to build a team of managers and producers who reflect those values.”
Conwell’s roster includes visionary storytellers such as writer/director Emily Carmichael (Jurassic World Dominion), Our Lady J (Pose), Sarah Lampert (Ginny and Georgia), Emma Fletcher (Social Justice Warrior), Corina Maritescu (Joe vs. Carole), Emily Kaczmarek...

Screenwest has announced the 27 recipients of the Bright Ideas Crew Capacity Initiative, who will share in more than $126,000 in funding to deliver 25 projects.
Targeted at below-the-line crew members and directors from the Wa Screen industry, the initiative invited applicants to propose a ‘bright idea’ to keep them working, developing and creating long term screen industry outcomes during the Covid-19 social isolation period.
Some of the selected ‘bright ideas’ include an online exhibition to showcase the Wa industry by photographer David Dare Parker; development of an online platform to house resources for production designers by Emma Fletcher; development of a guide to assist productions to go paperless by assistant director Mark Boskell; and a series of recorded conversations with a variety of West Australian freelance crew doyens, musing on past experiences and revealing industry insights by Ad John Fairhead.

Emma Fletcher on ‘The Heights’ set.
Viewers won’t know it when the second season of The Heights premieres on the ABC next year, but the 30-episode drama is being enhanced in both production design and cinematography.
The production is using a third studio in addition to the ABC’s two Perth studios which now houses the set of a pub (previously filmed on location in Northbridge) and a new community centre for the Arcadia Heights High School.
All that has enabled the writers to “grow our story world,” according to Matchbox Pictures’ Warren Clarke, who co-created the show with Que Minh Luu.
“By grouping these sets together we are able to shoot far more efficiently which then allows the show to get a bit bigger,” says Clarke, who produces the serial with For Pete’s Sake Productions’ Peta Astbury-Bulsara.
“We’re still heavily studio-based but splitting our studio time...

Australian children’s TV series rarely venture into the fast-paced action adventure genre. Rarer still is a teenage protagonist who is highly intelligent and passionate about science.
That’s the premise of Itch, the 10-part ABC-tv series now shooting in Albany, Wa, produced by Komixx Entertainment in association with Feisty Dame Productions.
It was an irresistible hook for Renée Webster, who directed the first block before handing over to co-director Nick Verso.
Adapted from former BBC broadcaster Simon Mayo’s novel Itch, the series stars Waapa graduate Samuel Ireland as Itchingham Lofte, a science-obsessed teen who pursues the unusual and sometimes dangerous hobby of collecting all the elements on the periodic table.
“I am attracted to projects whose values resonate with mine: that is really important,” she tells If. “Nick and...
