On Saturday, in a must-win clash against Delhi Capitals to seal their Playoffs spot, Conway was pristine in his strokeplay during his 52-ball innings of 87, hitting 11 fours and three sixes while sharing a massive 141-run opening partnership to propel Chennai in reaching a gigantic 223/3 and set the base for a 77-run victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Conway is also the third-highest run-scorer of the competition with 585 runs in 14 innings, averaging 53.18.
"He compares highly (as compared to other previous Csk overseas openers). He’s started well and was always in plans to bat through, with Stokes and Moeen in the middle batting and bowling. After fireworks from Conway and Gaikwad, followed by cameos from Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja propelled Chennai to a massive 223/3 on what was called a sluggish pitch, the M.S. Dhoni-led side took three wickets in Power-play and made strikes regularly to restrict Delhi to 146/9, despite David Warner waging a lone battle with a fighting 86.
Gaikwad produced a stunning exhibition of back-foot shots in hitting three fours and seven sixes in his 50-ball knock while Conway was pristine in his strokeplay during his 52-ball innings to hit 11 fours and three sixes as Chennai unleashed carnage on an off-colour Delhi bowling line-up.
On a hot afternoon, Delhi’s pacers and spinners are being taken to the cleaners constantly on going too full or short in their lengths. Such was the effect of the carnage that Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel didn’t complete their full quota of overs, as Chennai...

Chennai, May 6 (Ians) A high-quality bowling performance from Chennai Super Kings (Csk), led by young pacer Matheesha Pathirana’s 3-15, set the base for the four-time champions’ six-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in a one-sided Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023 match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.
Pathirana was on fire in his spell at the back end of the innings, giving away just 15 runs in his four overs, not conceding a single boundary while picking three wickets, denying Mumbai the finishing kick they needed after losing their top three batters in power-play as they ended up at 139/8.
He was also supported by Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande taking two wickets each while Ravindra Jadeja had a scalp to his name. For Mumbai, barring Nehal Wadhera’s 64 off 50 balls and Piyush Chawla’s spell of 2-25, no other player stepped up to the occasion as Chennai chased down 140 with 14 balls to spare.

Ott has helped it in a big way,” said Chandra. He also reiterated the need for Ott to continue with a soft touch approach, as the three tier self- regulatory system has been working well. While there were concerns that light touch regulation has led to less desirable content, he remained of the view that the industry needed to be more self-aware so that the government need not step in. After Chahar suffered a hamstring injury in the first over of the match, Tushar Deshpande (2-21) sent back Rohit Sharma with a peach of a delivery to send Mumbai Indians skipper’s stumps cartwheeling and then spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner shared five wickets between them as Csk restricted Mumbai Indians for 157/8 in 20 overs.
Ravindra Jadeja bagged 3-20 in his four overs and Santner claimed 2-28 as they broke the Mumbai Indians back in the middle overs.

Jadeja was brilliant in the execution of his plans as he bowled a fine length and line to claim the prized scalps of Ishan Kishan (32), Cameron Green (12), and Tilak Varma (22) and Santner bagged the wickets of the struggling Suryakumar Yadav (1) and Arshad Khan (2) and with Mitchell Santner and Tushar Deshpande claiming two wickets apiece, Chennai restricted Mumbai Indians for a below-par 157/8 in 20 overs.
Rahane then came to the party as the 34-year-old, playing his first match for Chennai Super Kings, slammed 61 off 27 deliveries, proving that there was still a lot of bite left in the old dog, even though Csk roped him at his base price of Rs 50 lakh in the mini-auction while players with 1/10th of his experience and skills bagged contracts worth crores.

Mumbai, April 8 (Ians) Mumbai Indians’ batting woes continued at home as they succumbed to some disciplined bowling led by Chennai Super Kings’ spinners Ravindra Jadeja (3-20) and Mitchell Santner (2-28) as they could only manage a modest 157/8 in 20 overs in an Ipl 2023 match at the Wankhede Stadium, here on Saturday.
The fans had turned in huge numbers to watch the home team return to winning ways after suffering an eight-wicket defeat in their opening match to Rcb. But it seems they will have to wait for some more matches to see that the score looks difficult to defend unless Csk make a hash of this easy chase.

ReviewIf life is an unpredictable occurrence, so is death, says the unified chant of the five filmmakers, even as each presents their case in their unique tone and sensibility.Pentagon / ScreengrabAnthology films managed to find a second lease of life following the advent of streaming platforms. In India, the resurgence of the format could be attributed to the star-studded four-part feature Bombay Talkies (2013) which, as a grand attempt to mark the centenary year of Indian cinema, brought together the four noted filmmakers Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Anurag Kashyap. Since then, one has seen several engaging themes and topics being moulded into anthologies and, in turn, helping the short film format thrive in parallel. Lust Stories, Paava Kathaigal, the Modern Love franchise, Navarasa, Anger Tales, and Kannada's own Katha Sangama (both 1975 & 2019) are some of the noteworthy endeavours in this format. In Guru Deshpande's five-film anthology Pentagon, the...

Mysore, Aug 13 (Ians) Pavan Deshpande turned up the style on Saturday evening, scoring a strokeful half-century for the Mysuru Warriors, before Aditya Goyal and Shreyas Gopal helped restrict the high-flying Bengaluru Blasters batting to 165/8.

A 59-run stand between them gave the Warriors some breathing space before Nihal was gone for 23. Deshpande though was firing away on all cylinders, and continued to do so despite the fall of the wicket, bringing up his fifty with a six over midwicket in the 12th over.
