Exclusive: UTA has signed of award-winning producer Kenn Viselman for worldwide representation in all areas. Viselman has driven more than $20 billion in commercial success.
UTA will also rep the relaunch of Viselman’s itsy bitsy Entertainment Company banner. That effort will begin with the animated series Moonzy and the animated family series BlackJack, based on Alex Simmons’ acclaimed series of graphic novels.
Viselman has produced, marketed and consulted on more than 50 children’s series. He was a producing partner on the franchises Teletubbies and It’s itsy bitsy Time!. He led marketing for Thomas the Tank Engine, which continues to air in more than 300 countries. He reassembled many of his former Teletubbies production team members, including Graham Halky, Emilia Nuccio and Marcio França Domingues, for the relaunch of itsy bitsy Entertainment. Eyal Podell and Jonathon E. Stewart, who wrote on the upcoming Cars 3, have been tapped to pen A Tale of Momentum and Inertia for Fox Animation.

Exclusive: Fox Animation has acquired the rights to acclaimed children's novel The Girl Who Drank the Moon, an epic coming-of-age fairy tale written by Kelly Barnhill. Marc Haimes, who recently co-wrote the script for Laika and Focus Features' Kubo and the Two Strings, has been set to adapt the script. Less than a week after former Pixar artist Armand Baltazar closed a deal for his debut three-book children’s series Timeless, the movie rights have been picked up by Fox. Carlos Saldanha, the director of the animated Rio and Ice Age movies, is attached to direct what would be a live-action/CG adaptation. Ridley Scott and Michael Schaefer of Scott Free Productions and Steve Tzirlin are producing along with Brooklyn Weaver. Exclusive: Carlos Saldanha, who co-directed Ice Age and then helmed two Ice Age sequels in addition to Robots and Rio, has formed BottleCap Productions. The label is Fox-based, where Saldanha made an exclusive five-year deal with 20th Century Fox and Fox International to develop both live-action and animated projects. Saldanha has hired former Scott Free exec Maresa Pullman as his VP, and promoted Jessica Roberts to Creative Executive. Pullman, who will report directly to Saldanha, most recently worked at Scott Free where she helped develop the Duplass Brothers’ Cyrus, and co-produced Jake Scott’s Welcome To The Rileys. She also worked closely with Ridley Scott on a number of projects, serving as an executive producer on Scott Free’s short animated film featuring the Coca-Cola polar bears.
