Amazon Prime Video France has unveiled a slate of originals, including Cedric Klapisch’s “Greek Salad” — a series sequel to the “L’Auberge Espanole” trilogy — Melanie Laurent’s “Le Bal des Folles,” as well as live sports such as the tennis tournament Roland Garros, and adaptations of popular unscripted formats such as “Lol” and “Celebrity Hunted.” All titles will roll out on the streaming service later this year.
The programs were presented during a virtual press conference on Monday hosted by Georgia Brown, director of European Originals; Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios; Thomas Dubois, head of French Amazon Originals at Amazon Studios, Isabelle Bertrand, head of content for Amazon Prime Video France; and Alex Green, managing director of sport at Amazon Prime Video.

Back in December, we got our first look at Forum Expanded, a program of exhibitions, performances and other works that don't necessarily entail lowering the lights and peering straight ahead at the big white screen. So we already know that we'll be seeing new work by Luke Fowler, Harun Farocki and many others. The first of today's announcements from the Berlinale (February 9 through 19) fills in the details.
The addition, for example, of whiteonwhite:algorithmicnoir (image above) by Eve Sussman/Rufus Corporation, "a film edited live in real time which shows a man under surveillance in a fictional East European city," solidifies the impression that Forum Expanded is a rough equivalent of Toronto's Future Projections program and Sundance's New Frontier since, by the time it rolls into Berlin, it'll already have been presented by both.
Other notable additions since December's announcement: Luc Moullet's "uncompleted project about two thieves (mother and daughter...

French director Djamel Bensalah has a new comedy in store. In fact, his next film Beur sur la ville will come out in theatres in France on October 12.
The film takes place in a poor suburb of Paris. Khalid Belkacem (Booder) failed his Diplôme national du brevet at 15 years old, his driving exam, his Bafa and even his baccalauréat général (Bcg).
In a nutshell, he's a complete failure by French standards. However, by a stroke of luck, he becomes the first French cop hired by "affirmative action".
The film also stars Issa Doumbia, Steve Tran, Sandrine Kiberlain, Josiane Balasko, Gérard Jugnot, Roland Giraud and François-Xavier Demaison.
No Canadian release date has been announced.
