Max is getting a little pricier for audiences.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced a price increase for the ad-free version of streaming platform Max, starting today June 4, for new subscriptions. The monthly cost will rise by $1, from $15.99 to $16.99 per month, with the annual plan increasing by $20 from $149.99 to $169.99.
The ad-free tier similarly rises by $1 per month, going up to $20.99 in monthly payments or $209.99 for the year, marking a $10 per year increase.
For preexisting subscriber accounts, users will be notified 30 days in advance of their plan renewing. The price increases will start from customers’ next billing cycle on or after July 4. Current yearly subscribers will not see an increase until renewal.
For those who endure ads, there’s no news: The Max ad-supported version will not change in price, with customers still paying $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year.

It’s almost “House of the Dragon” season again, which means it’s time for HBO to put everything it has into showing off the megahit series.
The Season 2 world premiere at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom was attended by cast and crew, celebrities, press — and, as Casey Bloys noted in his opening remarks before a screening of Episode 1, members of the executive board of Warner Bros. Discovery, including C.E.O. David Zaslav.
“I’m guessing that they’ve had a couple conversations saying, ‘Where’s all that HBO money go?'” Bloys said. “And my hope is that you see it on screen tonight. The dragons are very cool, they’re very expensive, but I did ask the production team to give me an idea of what it takes to put on a season of ‘House of the Dragon’ or a show of this size.”

It Prequel Welcome To Derry: Everything We Know So Far(Photo Credit –IMDb)
After the It franchise came to an end, Max had planned to bring Pennywise, the Dancing Clow, back to the small screen with the upcoming prequel series Welcome to Derry. The TV show will be based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel, It, entailing the origins of the evil character that terrorizes the town of Derry, Maine, every 27 years. After the success of the film adaptations starring Bill Skarsgård and Tim Curry, King was fully on board with It being used as an inspiration for its prequel series. Now that it’s official, let’s explore everything we know about Welcome to Derry.

Deadline reports that Bill Skarsgård is set to reprise his role of Pennywise the clown for the upcoming It prequel series Welcome to Derry (which may end up only being a working title).
In addition to starring in the It prequel series, Bill Skarsgård will also executive produce. When asked last year, the actor said he wasn’t involved in the series, so I think fans are relieved that he will be lending his bloodthirsty giggle to the proceedings after all. Skarsgård’s take on Pennywise was instantly iconic in my eyes, so it was hard to imagine the series either skipping the character altogether or recasting. I’m excited to see him come back.
Andy Muschietti, who directed the two It movies, developed the series alongside producers Barbara Muschietti, Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin. The story comes from Andy Muschietti,...

Now that the upfronts are over, it’s time to hand out much-deserved accolades to those who made this year’s presentations truly unforgettable.
Just remember, everyone’s a winner here. But these folks made the week extra special in New York.
Most Ominous Overture: Kelly Clarkson kicking off a week of upfronts that used to be the sole proprietorship of broadcast networks with tunes like “Whatever Makes You Stronger” and “Since U Been Gone.”
Best Dressed Code Breakers: Men like Bob Iger, Casey Bloys, Mike Hopkins and Rob Wade for appearing without ties. Nothing says we are hemorrhaging money more than a nude neck.
Earworm Award: Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em and Miley Cyrus’ Flowers that were played on a loop.
Best Joke of the Week: “NBC is launching the new adventure Destination X,” said Seth Meyers at the NBCU upfront. “It was originally titled the Linda Yaccarino story.

The viewers (and reviewers) have spoken, and all agree: they want more Conan
On Wednesday, HBO/Max head honcho Casey Bloys announced that Max has renewed Conan O’Brien’s return to television in Conan O’Brien Must Go for a six-episode second season.
“Conan’s ridiculousness knows no bounds,” Nina Rosenstein, HBO’s EVP of Programming, Late Night & Specials, said in statement. “Our audience told us in no uncertain terms that four episodes of Conan O’Brien Must Go is not nearly enough. To which we say: be careful what you wish for.”
The series, which is an offshoot of the Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan podcast, is a travel series/comedy show mash-up that sees O’Brien travel the world to meet listeners of his podcast in person. Thanks to GameFragger.com, we have the first images of Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie from the upcoming second season of HBO's The Last of Us.
Shared by Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, during the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation, both characters look very much in line with their respective video game counterparts, though there are already more complaints on social media about Ramsey looking too young for the role.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content shared the first trailer for Dune: Prophecy during today's Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation.
Despite being very much in line with what we've seen from Dune in theaters (albeit with perhaps a few more splashes of colour), the pressure is on this series to live up to Denis Villeneuve's critically acclaimed movies. This teaser doesn't reveal much, but so far, so good based on what we're seeing.

The “Dune” universe is expanding to TV, and going way, way back in time to do it.
During Warner Bros.’ Upfront presentation on Wednesday, HBO and Max boss Casey Bloys introduced the first teaser for “Dune: Prophecy,” a prequel series spinoff of the hit sci-fi film franchise. The six-episode season will premiere on Max this fall.
“Dune: Prophecy” is inspired by the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert (son of original “Dune” series author Frank Herbert) and Kevin J. Anderson. Set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides (Timotheé Chalamet), the series tells the story of the founding of the Bene Gesserit, the secretive, all-female (until Paul Atreides) order of superhuman power brokers who advise leaders and influence world events.
It follows sisters Valya (Oscar and Emmy nominee Emily Watson) and Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams) as they fight forces that threaten humanity’s future and create what becomes the Bene Gesserit.

Upfront week’s reliance on films isn’t actually new but it is increasingly bizarre, as evidenced by the top of Wednesday morning’s Warner Bros. Discovery presentation kicking off with sizzle that prioritized features Furiosa, Dune: Part Two and Wonka — when new episodes of the HBO and Max’s flagship Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon, are just weeks away.

Along with Pascal and Ramsey, other returning cast include Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother, Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Tommy’s wife,...

Daniel Radcliffe is speaking out about his career ties to “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling.
Tony-nominated actor Radcliffe has previously assured franchise fans that Rowling’s transphobic remarks are in no way indicative of the “Potter” actors’ own sociopolitical views. Now, Radcliffe is untangling the nuances of Rowling’s legacy.
“It makes me really sad, ultimately, because I do look at the person that I met, the times that we met, and the books that she wrote, and the world that she created, and all of that is to me so deeply empathic,” Radcliffe told the Atlantic, while also confirming he has had no direct contact with Rowling since her tweets in June 2020.
Radcliffe explained that his career “would not have happened without” Rowling, saying, “nothing in my life would have probably happened the way it is without that person.”

Jon Snow won’t be coming back to life (again) anytime soon: Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington says HBO’s planned spinoff centered on Jon Snow is no longer in active development.
“In development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it. And currently, it’s not,” Harington told ScreenRant while doing press for his movie Blood for Dust. “Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being.

During its two-season run on HBO, “Euphoria” has launched its young cast into superstardom and won multiple Emmys, while also being a magnet for controversy — but whatever lies ahead for the Sam Levinson-created show is going to have to wait.
Earlier this week, HBO officially delayed the drama, which was set to begin production later this spring. “HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” an HBO spokesperson told Variety. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
What the network isn’t saying is that no one at HBO is at all sure a third season of “Euphoria” will ever come to fruition given the disparate visions for the show’s next chapter. But “Euphoria” has been invaluable to the network — attracting the often-elusive millennial and Gen Z viewers, as well as massive ratings — and executives from Casey Bloys...

Filming for Euphoria season three has been put on hold.
The Sam Levinson drama was expected to start production soon on its long-awaited new season. But that plan has changed to give Levinson more time to work on the dark teen drama’s scripts.

Nicole Kidman said in a recent interview with Elle magazine that her daughter, Sunday Rose, was partly responsible for getting “Big Little Lies” Season 3 off the ground. She demanded another season after finishing Season 2 and even had some criticisms to share about her mother’s character arc.

I could kind of see the point of view of Mary Louise.’”

Will Samwell Reunite With Jon Snow? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
John Bradley, known for portraying Samwell Tarly in Game of Thrones, suggests the potential for reuniting with Kit Harington in the speculated Jon Snow spinoff series. Despite the widespread acclaim garnered by the HBO fantasy series, which aired from 2011 to 2019, and the success of its prequel House of the Dragon, concrete developments regarding the Jon Snow spinoff have yet to materialize since rumors emerged in 2021.
During an interview with ComicBook.com, Bradley discussed his upcoming Netflix series “3 Body Problem” and, when questioned about the possibility of definitive proof of alien life versus a reunion between Sam and Jon, opted not to commit to either scenario. Nonetheless, he did not dismiss the possibility of appearing in the spinoff, leaving fans with an open-ended opportunity.

A bill that could render TikTok banned from new downloads in the United States quickly advanced to the house on Thursday afternoon after a bipartisan committee voted 50-0 for its approval.
The bill, the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, was introduced earlier this month by representatives Mike Gallagher and Raja Krishnamoorthi. If enacted, the legislation would block apps owned by TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, from being available in Apple or Google app stores in the U.S.
More specifically, the bill would prohibit apps owned by the Beijing-based company to be downloaded in the United States unless ByteDance divested its applications, including TikTok, within 180 days of the legislation’s enactment.
