Thursday night, The Office says goodbye with a one-hour retrospective (NBC, 8 p.m. Et), followed by the one-hour series finale. For Brian Baumgartner (Kevin), the table read was the most emotional day working on that last episode. “We hadn’t read it. We were all reading the words and what was going to happen in that moment,” he says. “I’d heard a rumor about Kevin, and based on what the rumor was, I wasn’t happy. But then when I read it and saw how things worked, I was very happy.”

An all-star comedy that leans on its stars to conjure laughs out of thin air, "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" is about veteran magicians who find themselves suddenly less relevant when Mr. New and Edgy shows up and upstages them on the Vegas Strip.
An art-imitating-artist moment for Steve Carell and Jim Carrey? Maybe. But when you've got those two, Oscar winner Alan Arkin, Olivia Wilde, Steve Buscemi and James Gandolfini in your cast, the four guys you paid to write this thing should have no trouble finding a laugh a minute.
We meet Anthony and Albert as bullied 10-year olds who find escape, and purpose, in a "Become a Magician" kit -- VHS instruction tape included -- featuring veteran prestidigitator Rance Holloway (Arkin). Thirty years later, Burt Wonderstone (Carell) and partner Anton Marvelton (Buscemi) have their own theater at Bally's, a steady fanbase, gullible groupies (for Burt) and a boss...

In the new sci-fi brain bender "Looper," time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' into the future, as Steve Miller used to sing, except, in this case, the future is Bruce Willis.
His past is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, playing a young, cocky version of the "Die Hard" legend's character who is assigned to kill him when he comes back from the future to wreck havoc with the space-time continuum. Where's Doc Brown when you need him?
Rian Johnson ("Brick") wrote and directed this blazingly brilliant action bonanza, possibly the best time travel movie since Willis' "12 Monkeys."
1. "Diner Hard With a Vengeance."
2. Jeff Daniels fondly reminisces about making Joseph Gordon-Levitt a killer.
3. Gives new meaning to the term "goldbricking."
4. Emily Blunt shows Jgl how they do things down on the farm.

If the recent glut of low quality found footage flicks has been leaving a rather sour taste in your mouth, then get ready for a bit of refreshment as director Carlo Ledesma’s Australian faux-documentary The Tunnel will be putting the frighteners on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on August 6th, courtesy of Arrow Films.
Delve in here for the dark details...
Directed by Carlo Ledesma (The Last One, Food Matters, Locked, The Haircut), and produced by Enzo Tedeschi and Julian Harvey, The Tunnel is part of the 135k Project, a crowd-funding initiative that invites film fans to buy individual digital frames from films in pre-production to fund the costs of production. The aim of 135k Films is to make movies unencumbered by box office constraints.

Witches, apparently, are the most powerful creatures on the entire planet.
Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) doesn't know this when he spurns the love of cleaning lady/witch Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green) in preference for the doe-eyed Josette du Pres (Bella Heathcote). Angelique is a petty and vengeful creature, and so casts a spell that forces Josette to leap off a cliff and that turns Barnabas into a vampire. She then rallies the villagers against her ex-lover and arranges to have him buried for roughly 200 years, until he is awakened in 1972.
Barnabas gets dug up by a group of construction workers and rejoins what remains of his family. He finds they had long ago converted their fishing business into a cannery,...

Chicago – Both rock ‘n roll and the California culture would be completely different without the sound and influence of The Beach Boys. One of the founding members of the legendary band is Al Jardine, who in 1961 was a schoolboy friend of Brian Wilson when he joined the fledgling group. Jardine has released a new solo album called “A Postcard from California” and embarks on a 50th Anniversary Tour with The Beach Boys starting later this month.

Richard Gere has raised more than $900,000 (£562,500) for humanitarian charities after selling off his beloved guitar collection.
Musicians including Steve Miller and Karen Elson were in the crowd at Christie's auction house in New York on Tuesday as Gere sold his 107-strong collection.
The instruments, amassed since the actor was a child, included several top branded pieces such as Gibson and Fender and guitars once owned by blues legend Albert King and Jamaican reggae musician Peter Tosh.
The biggest draw of the sale was Gere's Les Paul electric guitar by Gibson, which went for $98,500 (£61,562) - boosting the total to $936,438 (£585,273), according to Bloomberg News.
In a statement, Gere says, "Without ever thinking I was putting a collection together, there seems to be one. I just bought what I liked, what sounded good - what played well."...

When we were in college we had a friend who made it his mission to use Star Trek as the basis for every paper he wrote. Whether it was for a communications, English or Political Science class, he planned on looping it all back to Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock. Shockingly he pulled it off.
He was also the guy that turned us on to William Shatner singing “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” He would silence a room of crowded college kids, so that everyone would be forced to bask in the glory of that performance. Had the Internet existed back then, he probably would have plugged a computer into a flat screen TV and made the partiers watch Shatner’s “Rocket Man” duet with himself. Sadly that wouldn’t be possible for a few (or more) years.
We lost touch with that...

Captain Kirk is headed back to space.
William Shatner, the Emmy winning TV icon, announced the track listing and details for his new space-inspired cover album, Searching For Major Tom. The album will feature a large number of heavy metal covers, as well as songs by U2, Frank Sinatra, Queen and Pink Floyd.
Shatner has had a storied music career, producing confusing, parodied yet somehow enlightening song covers and original bits over the past 40+ years. His first album, The Transformed Man, raised eyebrows with its bizarre covers, which, in what would become his trademark style, boasted dramatic readings of lyrics over music. HIs best known track was a recording of Sonny & Cher's "Mr. Tambourine Man." Check out Urlesque's ranking of his ten best cover songs here.
Shatner announced the album via Twitter back in February.

William Shatner, 80, is not done rocking out. Later this year -- no specific date has been set, but don't worry, we'll keep you updated -- the actor-singer-spoken word artist plans to release a new album, "Searching for Major Tom." It's a cornucopia of corny covers all orbiting around one central theme: space.
But unlike Shatner's live one-man performance classics, the Shat has enlisted some big time help. Bootsy Collins lends a hand on Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me With Science." Brad Paisley sings along on Steve Miller's "Space Cowboy," Peter Frampton sits in on "Spirit in the Sky," and even Toots of Toots and the Maytals is adding his vocals to The Police's "Walking on the Moon."

Director: Jon Bonnell.

The Abducted is a serial killer thriller, which was completed in 2009. The film then had a long wait for a DVD release (March 9th, 2011), and a video-on-demand release (February, 2011). Brain Damage Films distributed this independent film and they, of course, are know for films like Bikini Party Massacre (2002) and Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned (2008). So right off the bat you know that you are in strange territory. And what makes The Abducted even stranger is the fact that writer Alyssa Alexandria disowned this film by using a common pen name when walking away from a film, Adam Smithee. Other evidence of poor workmanship comes from the dissociative identity of the film, with other titles like Match.Dead and bizarrely Naked Fear 2, gracing this film at different times.

A couple of years ago, I mentioned in a column that Wesley Snipes had been convicted of not paying his taxes and would be going to prison. In response, I actually received emails from readers insisting that I was wrong to say the Internal Revenue Service had the right to collect income taxes. You are certainly entitled to believe whatever you like, but the truth is that after two years of legal filings, Snipes is now behind bars. It's my guess that right about now he regrets not filing his returns.Last month the IRS announced that the number of audited returns had increased by 11 percent over the previous year, with the agency examining more than 1.58 million individual returns during its budget year, which ended in September. The press release further stated that the more income you had, the better your overall chances were of being audited, as wealthy taxpayers...

Fans of rocker Steve Miller have set up a Facebook page dedicated to getting their hero into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - but "The Joker" hitmaker himself has no interest in becoming part of the "corny" music museum.
Miller has been mysteriously snubbed by the powers that be for years, and he insists he's not bothered. He tells Spinner.com, "When people bring it up, it's kind of embarrassing. I think the Hall of Fame deal is all politics anyway. If I wanted to be in the Hall of Fame, I'd be... playing that game. I don't play that game. The Hall of Fame, to me, is so corny."
But he admits he was among the first people considered for the Hall when it was being built in Cleveland, Ohio: "I went to the Hall of Fame and they were talking to me when they were designing it.

Steve Miller is one of the many great blues-rock guitarists, who shot to fame in the 1970s. And as with all blues-rock music, the feeling is to have a good time and make everybody dance. And this is the very intention of Steve Miller and his boys here, so what we get is Steve Miller-ised versions of great blues songs by legends like Chester Burnett (Who’s Been Talkin’), Bb ...

It's old home week as music vets step out of semi-retirement with albums made for touring. Tom Petty and Steve Miller prove that inside every white rock musician is a black bluesman dying to get out. "The Last Song," by Nicholas Sparks is one that will bring joy and sadness to your heart at the same time. While the movie follows the book, for the most part, there are key elements left out of the movie that would have made the movie better, if they were put in.

Running Time: 1 hr 45 mins

Release Date: March 31, 2010
Plot: A rebellious teen (Cyrus) and her little brother (Coleman) spend the summer on the beach with their dad (Kinnear).
Who’S It For? I don’t think adults are really going to crave a Miley Cyrus drama, and the kids who want to see it are going to be disappointed by the tone and pace.
Expectations: They were low. I haven’t seen anything to make me like Cyrus. I will say this though, I didn’t think Dear John was that bad. I’m not saying it was good, but it wasn’t awful.
