Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi starred in four Doctor Who Christmas specials each. We revisit Steven Moffat's festive scripts...
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
Steven Moffat’s first Christmas-y contribution to Doctor Who comes near the end of his second episode, The Doctor Dances, when Rose Tyler compares a jolly Doctor to Santa Claus. “Who says I’m not, red bicycle when you were 12?” comes the cheeky reply.
Comparisons between the Doctor and Father Christmas go all the way back to Moffat’s Comic Relief sketch The Curse Of Fatal Death and continue all the way throughout his tenure as head writer and executive producer, particularly in his seasonal specials. Having inherited the tradition, he upheld it very well.
Like Russell T. Davies before him, Moffat didn’t treat the Christmas special as a trifle or a passing fancy, but as a proper episode of Doctor Who.

Kazran Sardick
Portrayed by: Michael Gambon, Danny Horn, Laurence Belcher
Doctor: Eleventh Doctor
Story: “A Christmas Carol” (Dec, 2010)
Background: Kazran Sardick was raised by an abusive father, Elliot, who was absolutely focused on profit. Kazran, like his father before him, controls the airspace of Sardicktown and has grown into a very Ebenezer Scrooge-like character when he first meets the Doctor, who needs his permission so the crashing ship Amy and Rory are on can safely land. The Doctor, presumably inspired by A Christmas Carol (he is a Dickens fanboy, after all), decides to give Kazran the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future treatment, rewriting much of his childhood, to turn him into the kind of man who will allow the ship to land.
Family/Friends: We meet Kazran’s physically and emotionally abusive father, but we don’t find out about any other family members, implying that Kazran grew up incredibly isolated.

Title: Diana Director: Oliver Hirschbiegel Starring: Naomi Watts, Naveen Andrews, Cas Anvar, Laurence Belcher, Harry Holland, Douglas Hodge, Geraldine James, Charles Edwards, Mary Stockley. ‘Diana’ focuses on the last two years of the life of the Princess of Wales, and her love affair with Hasnat Khan, British Pakistani heart and lung surgeon. The screenplay is based on Kate Snell’s 2001 book ‘Diana: Her Last Love,’ and was written by Stephen Jeffreys. Producers Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae opted for a German director to bring this story on the big screen, certain that he would have had a fresh look on the story. It looks like we won't be seeing much of Prince William and Prince Harry in the upcoming Diana. According to the Daily Mail, there is only one "significant scene" of the duo interacting with their mother, Princess Diana, in the biopic. In the scene, Princess Diana reportedly hugs the boys, played by Laurence Belcher (William) and Harry Holland (Harry), leads them to a helicopter bound for Balmoral and tells them she'll see them in five weeks. This ends up being the last time she sees them. Director Oliver Hirschbiegel told the site that additional scenes featuring the princes were cut out because "it never felt right to have them in the film." "Everyone...

Naomi Watts plays Princess Diana in the upcoming biopic, Diana, whose teaser trailer just hit the Internet today. But just who exactly is taking on the iconic roles of her two young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry? Leave the former to 12-year-old Laurence Belcher. The English child actor has some pretty impressive credits to his name despite only being in show biz for five years. Per IMDb, Belcher's previous films include X-Men: First Class, in which he played Professor Charles Xavier at age 12, as well as starring as Young Kazran in the British TV series Dr. Who. How close do you think he resembles the real William? We'll let you be the judge. As for Prince Harry, he's...

Per the synopsis, “The film focuses on the last two years of Princess Diana's life: her campaign against land mines and her relationship with surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan.”...

The 20th Century Fox promotional department has been working overtime on the X-Men prequel X-Men: First Class, releasing — in just the past month — the first TV spot; the English equivalent of a Russian trailer; several international posters, character trailers, and banner ads; and earlier this week three TV spots and the first preview clip from the movie. With so much footage already revealed, we're beginning to wonder if director Matthew Vaughn has anything left to show audiences when First Class opens next month.
That said, there's more new footage found in yet another TV spot and French trailer.

X-men: First Class will be showing us a very different version of Professor Charles Xavier, the mutant telepath memorably portrayed in the previous films by Patrick Stewart.
Matthew Vaughn's prequel, now filming at Pinewood Studios in the UK, will reveal the character's early years, with James McAvoy playing the part.
Not only do we have a different actor but Xavier will also be represented differently, as McAvoy now confirms. What follows could be classed as mild Spoilers so be warned.
Essentially, his version of Xavier will have hair and he won't yet be in a wheelchair, though the film will show how the character lost the ability to walk.
Speaking to MTV at the Toronto Film Festival, McAvoy joked: "I'm basically going to try and bury Patrick's performance."
He elaborated: "I think the fun about these films, when you go back and you either reboot or do a prequel,...

If There were any doubts that X-Men: First Class is set primarily in the 1960s, the first shots of January Jones as Emma Frost should settle the debate once and for all.

In the comics, Emma Frost is a powerful telepath who at one time was a formidable adversary of the X-Men.
She became White Queen of the Hellfire Club, a secret society of affluent men and women led by its Black King, Sebastian Shaw (played in the film by Kevin Bacon). Shaw is also a mutant, with the power to absorb the energy from blasts, blows, blades and bullets and convert it to superhuman physical strength.

The Shadow Within is described as a "dark fairy tale," but the film does not look suitable for anyone under the age of eighteen.
