Exclusive: Veteran broadcasting executive Andy King has joined Buchwald to head the agency’s podcast division. In his new role, he will lead the development of client podcast concepts and guide talent through the process of podcast creation, from ideation to distribution. His hiring will also bolster Buchwald Sports, which represents athletes, sports broadcasters and coaches, at the same time strengthening the agency’s sports marketing initiative.
King joins Buchwald from SiriusXM, where he served as Director of Sports Programming, managing numerous brand partner channels. Colin Kaepernick has a new team of supporters. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback attended a game at Castlemont High School in Oakland, California, on Friday night, and the football team joined his protest. Kaepernick, 28, has drawn attention to racial oppression and inequality he began kneeling on one knee during the national anthem at his NFL games. He has continued his protest, and earlier this week told reporters that he has been receiving death threats for his stance. At the football game, Kaepernick was seen kneeling while members of the football team laid on their backs with their hands in the air.

Forget a daily sports talk show, Bleacher Report is getting its own channel on SiriusXM. The two media companies today announced the upcoming launch of “SiriusXM Bleacher Report Radio,” a new satellite radio channel debuting on Sept. 2. Airing on Sirius channel 93, Xm channel 208, and available to subscribers via the SiriusXM Internet Radio App, ”Bleacher Report Radio” will feature a daily lineup of shows hosted by Will Carroll, King Kaufman, Dan Levy and Josh Zerkle, Kirk Morrison and Nicole Zaloumis, among others.
