You may have heard that the latest in Wayforward’s superb Shantae series of platformers is ready for primetime, but what of features that only the New 3Ds (coming to the West in 2015) can provide?
According to series director Matt Bozon, the company is very excited about what the New 3Ds can bring to the table. So much so, in fact, that despite Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse‘s status as a downloadable eShop title, the team working on the game intends to release a patch that will take full advantage of Nintendo’s new hardware. Additionally, Bozon confirmed that it will run at 60fps on all 3Ds systems, even with 3D turned on.
We’re really excited about the New 3Ds! We have an update for Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse already underway, which will add a ‘quick select’ control scheme, as well as other minor improvements to the game.

Through an interview with WayForward’s creative director, Matt Bozon, Nintendo Power has revealed that Mighty Switch Force! will be heading to the Wii U’s download store later this year.
Mighty Switch Force! HD will feature all new visuals similar to the hand-drawn artwork in the studio’s A Boy and His Blob Wiimake, as well as the “bonus incidents” that were recently released as Dlc for the 3Ds version of the game. The added content may not end there though, with Bozon mentioning;
“We’re having a tough time putting our pencils down, so we may end up adding even more features before we’re done. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what’s possible before launch!”
The Wii U’s GamePad will display the game’s map on its screen much like the bottom screen on a 3Ds. However, Mighty Switch Force! HD will...

After first being introduced to Nintendo's dual-screen Wii U console we figured it was only a matter of time before we saw Nintendo 3Ds titles being revived with the HD treatment. A recent interview has revealed that WayForward's Mighty Switch Force! will be the first.
According to the latest issue of Nintendo Power, Mighty Switch Force! HD will be the same game we played on Nintendo 3Ds, but overhauled with high resolution graphics that take advantage of the Wii U's HD output. As one of the first downloadable titles available for Wii U, the new game will also come complete with the bonus levels and quick retry option recently introduced for the original 3Ds version.
“We've really enjoyed developing for Nintendo's download services and really want to be there for the Wii U launch.” WayForward creative director Matt Bozon told Nintendo Power, “While we do have some brand-new games in the planning phase,...
