Here’s a different angle in the continuing run of sackings and suspensions over on-air comments made by sports personalities. Former NFL running back Craig James is suing Fox Sports over his firing by the network two years ago, claiming religious discrimination. In a lawsuit filed today in Dallas County, James — who ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in 2012 — claims he was fired days after joining the company because of his opposition to gay marriage. He is seeking a…...

Updated, 2:47 p.m. Monday: Fox Sports has issued a statement saying that its parting of ways with James has “nothing to do” with James’ religious beliefs. Read Fox Sports’ full statement below. “As we have previously stated, Craig James is a polarizing figure in the college sports community and the decision not to use him in our college football coverage was based on the perception that he abused a previous on-air position to further a personal agenda. The decision had nothing to do with Mr. James’ religious beliefs and we did not discriminate against Mr. James in any way.

A Fox Sports Southwest commentator was reportedly fired for making some pretty awful anti-gay comments ... the wrinkle is that he hurled the homophobic remarks long before he was hired.Craig James -- a star at Smu and a former member of the New England Patriots in the '80s -- ran for a senate seat in Texas. During a 2012 debate, he had some choice words: Gay people "would answer to the Lord for their actions,...

Well, Craig James' run for Senate hasn't exactly gone as planned; his main stumbling block turned out to be the fact that nobody knows who the fuck he is. Do obstacles like these deter Craig James from pursuing success? No, of course not. Craig James will do whatever it takes to make it on this crazy journey called life, even if it means running a PR campaign to get a college football coach fired for refusing to give your son playing time. Whatever it takes.
Not winning a Senate seat doesn't phase Craig James, because Washington is corrupt and filled with liberal, tofu-eating, gay-marrying, ObamaCaring, fiscally irresponsible, tattooed, Girls-watching, rock-n-roll-loving, gun-hating dickheads who don't know jack shit about America. But Craig James still needs his voice heard. That's why, as CBSSports reports, he's available for television commentary! Again!
What's more, his versatility makes him invaluable for the boob tube.

Ever since "Friday Night Lights" left the air there has been talk of a movie spin-off and now it seems to be a sure thing as Peter Berg was doing press rounds for his new film Battleship and during an interview with Details magazine from the helmer's office in walked "Friday Night Lights" star Connie Britton where she was asked what she thought about a Friday Night Lights movie. Here's what she had to say: Connie Britton: So, I had a meeting at Jason Katims' [Emmy winning writer of "Friday Night Lights"] office. And we were talking about something else and I said, "Forget about all that. Is this movie going to happen?" I was sitting on his couch, and he's like, "Look behind you." And I look behind me and it's a wall with a big, huge corkboard on it with all these 3x5 cards. That's what these writers do, they do the whole story on 3x5 cards.

Peter Berg's 2004 Texas football film "Friday Night Lights" scored good notices upon its release, but it has been the five season-long TV series incarnation that has really scored both critical acclaim and cult following.
Since it wrapped last year, fans have been keen to see the small screen version's cast get their time on the big screen, especially Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton's husband-and-wife characters. Those involved seem to all be keen to do it, but little progress seems to have been made.
Now, out doing "Battleship" promotion, Peter Berg did an interview for Details Magazine (via Zap2It) during which Britton stopped by and they both talked about a Fnl movie.
Britton says she'd just come from a meeting at the office of the show's former executive producer Jason Katims, and "we were talking about something else and I said, 'Forget about all that. Is this movie going to happen?...

Last summer fans of Texas football, and more specifically, the series "Friday Night Lights," got some hope that there was more to come. Peter Berg revealed that he wanted to get a feature film off the ground centered on Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton picking up where the final episode of the show left off, and that work was happening to start getting it rolling. And then, there was pretty much radio silence on it, but now it seems it's becoming more of a reality.
Details recently chatted with both Berg and Britton, and though they remained cagey at first, the director laid it on the line: "We're doing the movie." And moreover, it seems a script and story is already being laid out as Britton recounts: "So, I had a meeting at [executive producer/writer] Jason Katims' office. And we were talking about something else and I said, 'Forget about all that.
