Roy Barry

Studies in acting, voice and dance gave Roy the needed proficiency to be cast in five original Broadway productions: "Follies", The Yearling", "Hello Dolly", "Maggie Flynn" and "Coco". Roy had featured roles with Katharine Hepburn, Alexis Smith, Yvonne DeCarlo, Jack Cassidy, Bob Hope and being directed by Lloyd Richards, Hal Prince, Morton DeCosta, Michael Bennett and Sidney Lumet. By age 25 he had two years in the Army plus the Reserve during the Vietnam War, and four union affiliations.
Over a ten year period had done over 100 commercials with two of them being nominated for the prestigious "CLIO" award for commercials. This led to hosting a TV quiz show "The Learning Game" on PBS, appearing in an ongoing role on "Another World" and in other films.
Roy has trained with the best teachers in NYC and LA. Worked with Warren Robertson, Peggy Feury, Lee Strasberg, Irene Dailey, Eric Morris and Jack Waltzer. Over the years Roy began his teaching at The Actors and Directors Lab in New York City. He eventually would work along side Warren Robertson and Shelley Winters teaching at Warren's studio in New York. He was the creator and director of the "Actor's Collective Ensemble" on Theatre Row in the early 80's
He is a member of the Playwright and Directors Unit of The Actor's Studio and the Dramatist Guild of America. He has completed four plays; "The Tomb", "No Escort Needed", "The Ward" and "The Legion Post # .50". He is about finished on his fifth "In the Name of Allah!" a play about democratic negligence of military justice in a foreign country. All plays are relative to the times we live in today. Roy is a proficient comedy writer.
