The 2024 BAFTA TV Awards very much celebrated the best of British TV tonight as the majority of big-name stars and more recognizable shows fell away to British shows and stars. The likes of “Succession” and “The Last of Us” went home empty-handed at the Royal Festival Hall. “Top Boy,” “The Sixth Commandment,” and “Such Brave Girls” claimed the three big prizes at the ceremony hosted by comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett.
“Top Boy,” Netflix’s hit show about two London drug dealers dealing with gang violence in East London, won Best Drama Series over “The Gold,” “Happy Valley,” and Emmy hopeful “Slow Horses.” Producers Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind came backstage to discuss their victory, which came for the fifth and final season of the fan favorite.

Netflix has confirmed that British gang drama Top Boy is returning for a fourth series – its second on the streamer.
Ashley Walters’ Dushane, Kane Robinson’s Sully, Michael Ward’s Jamie and Little Simz’s Shelley will all return with production starting this spring.
Top Boy, which returned for its third season in September 2019, was originally commissioned by Channel 4 and launched in 2011 before Netflix took on the show for the third season.
The third season picked up as Walters’ Dushane returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the highly lucrative drug market. He teams up with Robinson’s Sully, his spiritual brother, partner and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile – prison – comes to an end. Awaiting them both is Ward’s Jamie, the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully.

Last week we brought you brand new and exclusive images from writer Ronan Bennett’s four part drama Top Boy, and now we have the official trailer.
Watch this UK exclusive here, before it is released anywhere else.
The trailer opens up on a London council estate, darting over the show’s main faces one by one, before moving onto actor Ashley Walters, who tells us he’s looking for a “good life”.
Shots of police sirens and a young man with a knife set the scene; a rundown area riddled with drug dealing and money laundering – a backdrop which Bennett spent months researching in Hackney to incorporate into the show.
Bringing the stories to life are cast members; Walters, Malcolm Kamulete, Sharon Duncan Brewster, Kierston Wareing, Kane Robinson, Geoff Bell and Giacomo Mancini.
Top Boy is directed by Yann Demange, backed by Cowboy Films and Easter Partisan Films production,...

Writer Ronan Bennett’s gritty four part drama, Top Boy is scheduled to air on television in November.
In anticipation of the show’s arrival we have acquired these exclusive images, featuring Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson.
Including fresh new talent and real-life inspired stories, Top Boy is generating a large amount of buzz running up to its TV debut, and rightly so.
Hitting the streets of Hackney as part of his research, writer Bennett went behind the scenes of the drug dealing culture in London.
Director Yann Demange adapts Bennett’s true accounts into a four part television drama about young people living on the edge and, for the most part, living out of sight in the Big Smoke today.
