Gravitas Ventures have announced the acquisition of director Miles Doleac’s macabre riff on the Cernunnos myth, Demigod, which stars Rachel Nichols. The distributor plans for a late-October, day-and-date streaming and theatrical release.
Directed and co-written by Doleac (alongside Michael Donovan Horn), Demigod was produced by Doleac, James Victor Bulian, Lindsay Anne Williams, and Wesley O’Mary, the same team behind 2020’s The Dinner Party. Demigod’s supporting cast includes Doleac, Williams, Elena Sanchez, and Jeremy London.
Says Doleac:
I’m extremely grateful to Jeff Cooper and to Gravitas for their belief in this film’s potential. From its infancy, I knew this was a film that I wanted seen on the big screen. I’m heartened that audiences will have the opportunity to see it in movie theaters, an increasing rarity, of course, for true indie films.

Stars: Bill Moseley, Lin Shaye, Sofia Mattsson, Ashton Leigh, Mary Alice Risener, Tanyell Waivers, Ashley Hamilton, Yohance Myles, Abbie Gayle, Ciara Rizzo, Ashton DeGroot, Kyler Porche | Written by Chris Kobin | Directed by Ashley Hamilton
Vampires of New Orleans is written by Chris Kobin (2001 Maniacs) and directed by Ashley Hamilton who has appeared as an actor in films like Iron Man 3, but makes his directorial debut here. It tells the tale of four friends who head off to Nola for some “fun times” but wind up in the presence of a peculiar New Orleans family who are plagued by a voodoo curse. Poor bastards.
The cast intrigued me immediately with horror mainstays like Bill Moseley and Lin Shaye (Insidious) on board, and a whole load of other acting talents, many of whom do a good job here. The problem here is, however, the tired cliches it approaches time and again.

Yohance Myles (Shots Fired) will appear in Episode 2 of the Own drama’s second season, TVLine has learned exclusively, playing a successful barbershop owner named D’Andre. It’s been quite some time since I saw Padraig Reynolds’ debut feature Rites of Spring back at Glasgow Frightfest 2012 and since then Reynolds has been pretty silent on the directing front. However, being a huge fan of that film there was no way I was passing up the chance to see yet another slice of Reynolds’ particular style of Southern Gothic.
Much like Rites of Spring mixed genres, taking in crime drama and traditional stalk and slash horror, by way of Southern horror like Jeepers Creepers; Worry Dolls mixes old-school voodoo with the tropes of classic 80s slashers (yes, this is yet Another Frightfest movie to utilise the sterotypes of the slasher genre) in a tale that – like Last Girl Standing...
