The portrayal of female characters in prominent anime series like Naruto and One Piece has always been a subject of discussion among anime fans. The mangas, being a part of the Shonen genre, have always been blamed for either overly sexualizing the female characters in the series or not giving them enough background or storyline to highlight their importance.
Sakura Haruno | Studio Pierrot
Both One Piece and Naruto have faced these allegations, but according to the overall narrative, One Piece might triumph over Naruto in terms of giving their female characters enough screen time that they leave an impact on the fans. This was proved when Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, talked about the portrayal of Sakura in the series.
The manga revealed that because Sakura was a normal girl, she didn’t have any additional storyline to add gravitas to her character, which would have marked her importance...

“One Piece” editor Eric Litman is “so excited to get involved” in the live-action Netflix version of the popular Japanese manga series by Eiichiro Oda, which was also turned into an animated TV show in 1999. Litman had previously collaborated with co-showrunner Matt Owens on Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” so he was happy to continue their working relationship on the new pirate-themed project. “When I finally got the call that they wanted to bring me on, I was just absolutely beyond myself,” the editor tells us. Watch the exclusive video interview above.
Litman calls it a “responsibility” and an “honor” to be a part of such a world-renowned franchise, adding, “You want to make sure you do right by the fans.” As he explains, “Anime hasn’t always translated well in the past. And we wanted to make sure that the fans really responded well to the show, and the...

The "One Piece" live-action adaptation is fantastic, setting a new standard for live-action adaptations of anime and manga. The show takes Eiichiro Oda's beloved and iconic manga and translates it to the screen in a way that is faithful, but also changes things when it makes for a better story — like bringing in Garp earlier and making him an overarching villain for the season. A key element to the adaptation is the cast, which is absolutely perfect and encapsulates why people fell in love with the story in the first place, bringing to life the tale of Monkey D. Luffy and his quest to get a pirate crew that will join him across perilous waters in search of the mythical treasure, One Piece.
Of course, adapting over 90 chapters into a single 8-hour season is bound to leave many things behind, and unfortunately one of those was a beloved character...

What began as the saga of a wannabe pirate king has become a story that anyone can relate with. In an interview to celebrate One Piece‘s 21st anniversary, Eiichiro Oda opens up abut the inclusive prospect in his series.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Survivor Season 46 finale, “Friends Going to War.”] Survivor 46 was a record-setting season in more ways than one, and now it has its winner. While the Nami tribe enjoyed a long winning streak in the first half of the season, none of its players made it into the final three. Two former Sigas and one Yanu got that honor. A Yanu player making it all the way to the end after the tribe’s record-setting bad start is everything you want to see on TV. Here, we break down the eventful Survivor 46 finale, how its winner secured the $1 million prize, and all the records this chaotic (and often confounding) season set. Maria was one immunity challenge away from her fourth individual win in the first part of the three-hour finale. Had she won the challenge, Maria would’ve joined an elite group of just four women who had won individual immunity four times ...

Eiichiro Oda found both a friend and a direct competitor in the form of Masashi Kishimoto. One Piece has often taken inspiration from Naruto and vice versa. Letting go of hostility, a friendly competition was accepted between the two that let their works grow in fame as each chapter came out. Kishimoto’s work is one that has inspired many. Whether it is the heroes or the villains, even the powers; a lot can be found inspiring.

Eiichiro Oda has been crafting One Piece chapters almost every week, giving fans an essence of Luffy’s best and worst for decades now. Each chapter brings a new beginning and continuity at the same time. During the Paris Fan Festival, Taz Skylar, the actor cast to portray Sanji in Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action series, opened up about the initial wave of negative comments he faced on social media following the casting announcement.
During the festival’s Q/A session, Taz recounted his very first exposure to criticism and it was around the time when the One Piece casting news came out. He revealed that his friends informed him that his name was trending on Twitter alongside references to his resemblance to rapper Eminem.
“The best way to get me to do something is tell me I can’t do it,” Skylar stated, revealing that rather than being deterred by the negative feedback, he found motivation in the challenge. “I remember I laughed because I was like, you know what, they have a point. I do kind of look a little bit like Em,” he added.

One Piece’s live-action announcement was certainly surprising. Given the history of live-action movies and series, especially in the anime genre, fans initially had their expectations low, and there was a general belief that the Netflix series would be another disappointment.

Yet, surprisingly and fortunately, the series was an immense success. Not only did the series remain true to the source, but it was the casting and actors who stole the spotlight. House of the Owl is a Japanese political drama that revolves around Ryuutaro Ougami, the nation’s top fixer, and his troubled family, each member grappling with their own set of issues. The series delves into the bureaucratic intricacies of Japanese society and how a small group of individuals strive to maintain their grip on power, a phenomenon prevalent across borders. They say blood is thicker than water, but for Ryuutaro Ougami, his own kin proves to be a source of turmoil for this morally complicated man. As a ‘fixer,’ Ryuutaro wields significant influence behind the scenes, with politicians of all ranks, including the Prime Minister, seeking his counsel to resolve their scandals and controversies. His role is akin to that of a retainer in a modern-day shogunate, a shadowy figure who holds considerable sway over those in power. To the general public, Ryuutaro remains largely an enigma, yet those...

Boa Hancock is one of the most powerful female characters in One Piece. She was introduced in the Amazon Lily arc, and since then, she has been an ally of Luffy and his crew. She helped Luffy reach Impel Down to save his brother Ace, and she even helped him get better after the Paramount War in the Marineford arc.
Boa Hancock – One Piece
Boa Hancock recently made an appearance in the story when Blackbeard decided to go after her Devil Fruit abilities. Many believe that she is one of the worst-written characters in the series because her role is quite short compared to her powers, which does not do justice to her character and her abilities.
However, there is a chance that Eiichiro Oda might be saving her for the final war and will bring her back to help the Straw Hat Pirates fight the World Government during the conclusion.

The live-action adaptation of the extremely popular anime, One Piece, managed to live up to the fans’ expectations, something which is quite rare these days. With just the first season out right now, the series stands at a score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, whereas the audience score for the film is 95%. Needless to say, both fans and critics were more than pleased with the outcome of Matt Owens and Steven Maeda’s hard work.

Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of One Piece, experienced the most significant growth in his strength during the time skip. After losing his brother Ace and almost losing his crew during the Sabaody Archipelago arc, Luffy decided that he and his crewmates needed to grow their strength to face the upcoming opponents.
Strawhat Pirates in One Piece
Time Skip is one of the greatest narrative aspects used by manga creators like Eiichiro Oda and Masashi Kishimoto. Although the major role of a time skip is to fast-forward a narrative, they also tend to improve the strength and abilities of the main characters. The only problem with them is that they also increase the age of the characters.
However, Oda, in one of his interviews, revealed how he tackled this problem. He intentionally introduced the two-year time skip so that Luffy and his crew wouldn’t grow too much in age...

The sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates, Usopp, has been considered the weakest member of the Straw Hats after the Wano arc in One Piece. Almost every character got a power-up during Onigashima except Usopp. Even Nami, who is considered equally as weak as Usopp in terms of strength, got the power of Zeus (Big Mom’s soul fragment).
Usopp – One Piece
Since Egghead started, he has not been able to do something major in the narrative, and one of the main reasons for this is the fact that his power level is too low compared to the future opponents that the crew is going to face. While he might get away with it during Egghead, he seriously needs to grow in terms of strength because the next arc (Elbaf village) will put a special focus on him.

A lot of people are trying to take credit for Soda’s vote-out on Survivor. Venus took credit just minutes after the vote. Tevin planned on taking credit later, presumably if he ever hit those Final 3 Tribal Council seats, and Liz told the camera that voting “Soda” was not only her idea, but she had been planning on voting her out from the early days on Nami. Even the elusive Survivor “monster,” wherever he, she or it may be hiding, probably wants full kudos for poor Soda’s demise.

The One Piece manga began publication in 1997 and is still ongoing, with Eiichiro Oda continuing the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates. The series is part of the “Big Three,” alongside Bleach and Naruto, and is one of the most popular and most important animanga titles in history. But, as you might have assumed, One Piece is not Oda’s first work. In fact, the whole world of One Piece was born from a one-shot manga, Monsters, that came out earlier and which featured prototypes of the current characters we’re following in One Piece!
While not as popular as One Piece, Monsters is regarded by many as a cult classic work and an important work in the development of Oda’s big masterpiece, which is why we frequently report on it. This time, we are celebrating the upcoming special DVD release of the Monsters anime adaptation,...

While there are distinct dips in quality in the studio's series, Somai's contribution may be considered one of the best, touching upon a wide array of topics such as toxic relationships and suicide. Japanese critics also thought highly of the movie as it won five awards at the 7th Yokohama Film Festival and also an in-house award at Nikkatsu for Best Film of the Year.

Bathing with Nami is a rare opportunity for the Straw Hats in One Piece. Sanji would probably sacrifice Zoro, Luffy, and every guy on the ship just to get a glimpse of her. Yet, when the same was offered to Chopper, he did not even hesitate to turn Nami down.

There are thousands of characters in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, but Nami stands out as a fan favorite. As the navigator for Luffy’s crew, she even ranked top 3 among the most popular anime characters.
However, for years, fans have criticized Nami’s outfits as being too revealing, seeing them as nothing more than fanservice. Nami’s choice of clothing is actually a planned part of how she works.

One Piece, written by Eiichiro Oda, is well-known for its amazing world-building, outstanding character design, dynamic movement, and some funny jokes. However, one thing that seems to be absent from the story is any real romantic attraction between the characters.
The fans are quite passionate about the series. They frequently like to wonder about potential romantic connections between the characters.
Luffy in One Piece
The real reason behind this is the genre that One Piece belongs to, as romance is not always a big focus in the shonen manga. This type of story is predominantly written with young boys as an audience in mind, and the focus is usually more on action and adventure.
Why Eiichiro Oda Avoids Romance in One Piece
Romantic elements in shonen manga, such as One Piece, are quite uncommon. Sometimes they hint at it, but they don’t confirm anything until the story is almost done.

Survivor 46, Episode 8 takes the show into its homestretch.
Only 10 people are left competing for the $1 million prize, and things are getting spicey.
Viewers will also see the first Survivor 46 Tribal Council with a jury member.
During the previous episode, two people were eliminated in successive Tribal Councils. The Immunity Challenge split the castaways into two groups of six. Each group then had to vote someone out.
The Tribal Councils were pretty dramatic, beginning with Tim Spicer becoming the last person eliminated before the jury phase.
At the second Tribal Council for the April 10 episode, Soda Thompson got completely blindsided. It was a shocking end to her game – and one that Venus Vafa took credit for as she got up to have her torch snuffed by Jeff.
