Japanese director Miike Takashi, who is known for slasher film “Ichi the Killer” and stomach-churning “Audition,” has signed with CAA for representation.
Miike is one of Japan’s most prolific and bold directors, with more than 100 feature film credits, spanning genres, including horror, comedy and action. “Ichi The Killer” and “Audition” enjoy cult followings globally.
The auteur has also received acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival for “Shield of Straw,” “Gozu” and “Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai.”
His film “Crows Zero” is immensely popular in Asia, especially among Gen Z.

Harvey Keitel, Dermot Mulroney, Richard Brake and Jackson Rathbone are set to star in director Phil Blattenberger’s crime thriller Laws of Man, which will be shopped to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival.
Keitel will play a mysterious hippie preacher in the film about two U.S. marshals on a dangerous mission to arrest Benjamin Bonney, an outlaw wanted for murder, only to see a desert ambush thwart their plans. As the marshals navigate assassination attempts and looming catastrophe, they stumble onto a sinister plot that threatens the very foundations of peace and justice.
The film, earlier known as Without Consequence, is from Film Mode Entertainment, which handles worldwide sales, and Lost Galleon Films. The ensemble cast includes Jackson Rathbone, Graham Greene, Keith Carradine, Kelly Lynn Reiter and James Urbaniak.

The past week has seen a crush of awards season events and ceremonies, starting with the Golden Globes a week ago, then the Governors Awards, scads of guild nominations, and tomorrow night marks the telecast of the delayed Emmys. Tonight, January 14, the Critics Choice Awards will take place in Los Angeles, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, starting at 4:00 p.m. Pt/7:00 p.m. Pt. Here’s how to watch the show, which this year is hosted by Chelsea Handler.
The show will air live on the East Coast and in Los Angeles on The CW. Beginning at 2 p.m. Pt, Ktla-5, Los Angeles’ CW affiliate, will host a red carpet show ahead of the three-hour awards show. Exclusive: The Gifford Media Group has acquired film and TV rights to Harvard-trained physician-turned-novelist William Maz’s Cold War thriller The Bucharest Dossier from Oceanview Publishing.
The novel, published last year, follows CIA analyst and Romanian expat Bill Hefflin, who returns to his homeland after the gruesome murder of his former Harvard professor. He soon becomes embroiled in a high-stakes game of espionage with his mysterious Kgb asset.
Oceanview has already ordered a sequel to Maz’s debut novel.
The Gifford Media Group was founded by writer-producer Cody Gifford, son of TV stalwarts Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford — the former the late Hall of Fame NFL player-turned-broadcaster and the latter the Emmy-winning former co-host of Today.

UTA has signed TV host, actress, singer/songwriter, producer, playwright and author Kathie Lee Gifford for representation in all areas.
Gifford is best known for co-hosting NBC’s Today alongside Hoda Kotb. In 2019, she won an Emmy for Best Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host for her work on the program, which she shared with Kotb until stepping down in April.
